The Phoenix Arises

Mission: Mission 43: Acts of Contrition
Location: Various Locations - USS Tranquility
Timeline: 1600Hrs - October 3rd 2391

Lt Commander Siaxx Dvald walked into the sickbay recovery area where Phoenix was resting, having spent the last two months in rehab with her burned lungs. "How is she?" she inquired of Aryssa who was seated nearby.

"She's absolutely bored and lookin' ta fly the coop," Aryssa snickered.

"Well.. We're not heading anywhere for another few days... my first command ..." the small Bolian commented. "apparently I'm being assigned to look after a Marine Operation... and this ship and I are to look after their wounded or so I hear."

"You all right?" Aryssa asked with concern. "Looks like you gained some weight."

Siaxx raised an eyebrow. "I'm not eating anything extra." she smiled as most would find the question of her gaining weight to be offensive but Siaxx knew that Aryssa meant well. "I'll look into it later.. Maybe there is a medical explanation for me getting fat."

"Well one of the nurses gave Phoenix a coloring book to play with, but I don' think 'at'll keep her attention for long," Aryssa smirked. "She's breathing pretty good though."

Siaxx smiled as she regarded Aryssa. "That's wonderful news." she responded as she plucked her tricorder, before taking a moment to fiddle with it before handing it to Aryssa. "Go ahead... scan me. Its already set for a standard physical.." the small Bolian explained.

"Umm..." Aryssa pulled her collar for she felt very uncomfortable. "You're pregnant. And you're married to Phoenix."

Siaxx smiled. "Ahh... so my plan has been accomplished, excellent." she responded. "Don't worry about Phoenix.... She knows I wanted children for a long time now..."

"Knowin' and doin' is a lot different," Aryssa told Siaxx. "You can' tell me Jill knew you were bangin' people for this outcome?"

"Actually, she did... she knew I wanted kids for quite awhile now." Siaxx responded. "and you are to stay out of it... I will tell her myself... she should hear it from me..."

"Oh no. I'm tellin' my sister because I don' think she wanted ya to bang dudes just yet," Aryssa spoke offensively and made to enter Phoenix's room.

Siaxx sighed as she gently grabbed Aryssa's arm. "Aryssa. Let her hear it from me... she has the right." before she moved into Phoenix's room. "So... I hear you're climbing the walls looking for the keys to this guilded cage.." she said to Phoenix. "This one has news for you.. but I figured I would tell you first." as she gave Aryssa a rather evil glare. "See... it goes like this." she got out as she looked down at her abdomen. "I'm new with child."

Phoenix was more amused with the hidden conversation going on with her family. The evil eyes with one another.

"You don' like that Siaxx did so without my knowin'."

"I don't," Aryssa agreed as she shot Siaxx a dirty stare. "It's disrespectful.

"It is," Phoenix agreed with a civil nod, then quickly corrected, "At least, it is to humans. Bolians are a polygamous people, Aryssa. That means that while she is my wife, she is free to seek pleasure when I cannot fulfill those."

"Your people are a confusing race," Aryssa countered irritably and left the room in a huff.

"Don' blame her, Siaxx... Most humans aren' used to our lifestyle. But I am a little annoyed you didn' wait until things settled, ta get knocked up." Phoenix pat the bed so as to let Siaxx sit with her.

Siaxx sighed before she sat down on the bed. "I wasn't expecting it to happen... quite so suddenly.." she admitted. "I was going to wait longer..."

"So does this mean you want to carry to term and we raise one now? Or are you looking at termination? Or are you undecided?" Phoenix asked with concern.

"No... this was unplanned but... I'll carry this one to term.." Siaxx admitted. "Since I am small... I will have issues with it."

"Then we'll need to see a good OB/GYN," Phoenix spoke confidently. "We'll make sure you and our baby are healthy."

Siaxx smiled as she gently gave Phoenix a hug. "You have no idea how happy I am to see you awake." she admitted. "Roanoke has some new medical personnel... so.. I'm sure I can find someone to help me deal with this.."

"I would not suggest Furban... She's not the cheeriest. Plus she's more of a surgeon than a GP," Phoenix suggested. "Though... do you not want anyone here?"

"I'll look into the matter." Siaxx smiled at Phoenix. "Your awake, which is the main thing..." she turned her head. "Nurse?"

"Don't have them bug me. Unless that's to release me," Phoenix begged. "I'm fine. Really."

A comely Bolian female came over as she regarded Siaxx. "Yessir?"

"Can I spring her?" she indicated Phoenix.

"Doctor Cullen approved it, so long as there are no more scarring," the nurse told Siaxx.

"Am I scarred, Siaxx?" Phoenix asked Siaxx with a grin.

Siaxx raised an eyebrow. "You look fine to me... I will need to examine you in more detail... later." she responded. "Lets get you some clothing... unless you feel like walking the ship in naught but your skin."

"I think Furban would go crazy if she found out I was naked," Phoenix giggled. "Unless we're staying on this ship."

"We are.." Siaxx responded. "You've missed a few things.." as Siaxx was speaking, a nurse came in with a small bag. "The Commander left these for you."

"Excellent. I left a bag of clothing for you. I figured it would be easier this way rather then the medical staff fitting you for clothing you'd wear once." the small Bolian explained. "Want me to give you a moment to change?"

"You've seen me naked more times than I can count," Phoenix laughed in kind as she began to change clothes. "Stay. Please... I missed ya."

Siaxx regarded Phoenix as she was comfortable on the bed. "I'm hoping this baby will be a boy." she admitted. "I hope it won't be twins... now that would be bad.."

"Even worse than when I had Aryssa," Phoenix flinched. "Let's hope it's only one, and we'll find a good doc that's able to handle your needs."

Siaxx regarded her wife. "I'll let the medical staff here assign me someone rather then myself arbitrarily picking one."

"Well I am more than happy," Phoenix admitted with a toothy grin, then put a new t-shirt on over her head. "You deserve to be happy for once."

Siaxx raised an eyebrow. "It'll be a challenge for me... considering my size limitations and my light weight... but I can do this.. I've handled worse."

"We'll go through it together," Phoenix promised.

"Sounds good.." Siaxx smiled.

"Can we go home now?" Phoenix begged her wife as she finished putting her shoes on.

Siaxx pulled the PADD from the foot of Phoenix's bed as she glanced over Doctor Cullen's notes. "As long as you take it easy... no stressful activity of any kind... your system is still adjusting to the shock of what happened... you were in a coma for about two weeks.." Siaxx explained as she regarded Phoenix. "But yes... you can come home... Just remember to be nice to the cats.... They will just be meeting you."

"Huh?" Phoenix blinked.

"You've not heard... Well we now have three cats... Shonax is happy, he gets playmates to hang around with. Their names are Theris and Sohnaxx, for my sister and mother in that order... they are Margay cats." Siaxx explained. "Aryssa has been a great help with them. Shonax wants to mate with them... he can't because he's been fixed... I swear he does it just to vex me..."

"Or he does it so they know he's alpha," Phoenix snickered at that. "He's a male, after all."

"Lovely." Siaxx sighed. "but you do make a point.." she hopped off the bed. "You ready to go yet?" she inquired.

"Oh yeah," Phoenix nodded eagerly.

"Alright." Responded the small Bolian as she regarded Phoenix. "You'll love the two tiger cats I got... they've been making themselves right at home.." Siaxx explained before she turned and led the way out the door and out of the large sickbay.

"I've no doubt," Phoenix sighed happily. Glad to have Siaxx in her life.

The two women arrived a short time later at the Executive Officers quarters. "We're here.." Siaxx explained. "Your new home away from... well the festering stinking midden pile we laughingly call a Carrier..." she sighed. "I see why Rachael likes it here.." as she regarded Phoenix before she tapped the door release.

The doors slid apart as Siaxx entered, moments later a small cat landed on her shoulder and it wasn't Shonax who was lying on the sofa, a second cat was curled up beside him, which was about half his size.

The Margay looked at Phoenix as she seemed to take in the sight of this stranger. Shonax turned his head as he regarded Phoenix before he got up and came over to the edge of the sofa before meowing loudly at her.

"Thats Theris and this is Sohnaxx." Siaxx indicated the two cats. "Margays tends to be rather.... territorial and while they look like house cats.. these girls tend to prefer the trees... Which is why I have so many shelves, these guys take after Shonax in a lot of ways..." Siaxx was explaining. "Aryssa.... you around?" she called a moment later.

"I am," Aryssa called from her bedroom, and came out a few minutes later. "Just working on a book report for class."

Phoenix turned to Siaxx, confused. "When did she eagerly start doing her homework?"

"Like I said..." Siaxx said with deep amusement. "You missed a few things.." Siaxx responded. "Aryssa has been taking very good care of me... In return, I help her when she asks me for help. We have a good arrangement."

"How come you don't want my help?" Phoenix asked Aryssa.

"Because you confuse me. You mean well, Jill, but you're not a good teacher," Aryssa explained apologetically. "Anyway... What would you guys want for dinner? Zara said as long as I kept my grades up, she'd send over her quality supplies of food from the flag's pantry."

Siaxx smiled. "Surprise me." she responded. "Just... no coconut or anything heavy on the spices." she added. "Are the cats behaving?" she inquired as she gently plucked Sohnaxx from off of her shoulder, the Margay protested this treatment with a loud growling sound.

"Jill... meet Sohnaxx." Siaxx explained. "Isn't she adorable?" before she set the cat down on the sofa where she instantly sat down as she regarded Phoenix with her large brown eyes before she growled at the larger woman.

"Margay's don't meow in the traditional sense... Their growl is their way of saying hello.... but you think that's interesting... just wait until Shonax decides he wants to play..."

"We might be in trouble if our kids are allergic to our pets," Jill teased. "...Can we handle all these pets and an infant at once?"

"We'll be fine." Siaxx responded. "Somehow." she added with a smile before she gently ran her fingers over Sohnaxx's soft fur as the Margay softly trilled at her. "Well Jill... pet the cat.."

Phoenix gently put her real hand on the cat and began to gently caress the kitty. "...I'm glad. Settled. For the first time in my life, I feel truly blessed."

Siaxx smiled as she watched the Margay began to claw at Phoenix's metal hand. "Is that a good thing?" as the Margay trilled ever so softly as she clearly was using it as a scratchpost. "Sohnaxx... What are you doing girl?" Siaxx inquired

Theris lifted her head from where she was lying down as Shonax got up and came over. "Meow?" he peered up as he regarded Phoenix as he began purring at her. Theris came over moments later.

It was easy to tell the two Margay's apart as one had brighter fur then the other.

"It is, I think... I don't think I could be a combat pilot full-time and have all this," Phoenix spoke graciously. "All because you believed in me, Siaxx."

"You had faith in yourself... I just reminded you of the details.." Siaxx smiled up at the taller woman. "Now. I moved your stuff into the master bedroom and I tried to set things up as best as I could... so I'm going to let you go on in and claim your space.. But these quarters are much bigger then what I used to have and Aryssa takes very good care of me.." she grinned at Phoenix. "Shonax loves his new digs... But Sohnaxx and Theris need special attention because they are used to living in a jungle... they can hang upside down while looking at the ground and I do not wish to deprive them of their home.."

"So do we live here now?" Aryssa asked mostly to Jill.

"Oh I highly suspect they will want you to have your own set of quarters as you are the Task Force CAG now. For Roanoke and the Courageous.."

"A new carrier in the group?" Phoenix blinked. "Do we know the CO?"

"Yes." Siaxx chuckled softly. "Her skipper is known to you." as she gave Phoenix a coy smile.

"Siaxx..." Phoenix sighed with a humored grin. "Who is the CO?"

"She is known to me.." Siaxx grinned at the other woman. "Though she is better known to you.. then she is to me." the smaller Bolian responded with a rather evil grin. "Why don't you go track her down and offer to bed her... see what she says to you." her grin threatened to split her face in two.

"I only bed you, My Dear," Phoenix retorted with a wholehearted grin.

"Oh well." Siaxx responded. "I think Captain Yamaguchi would be disappointed however." as Siaxx's grin never left her face. "Like I said... she is known to you. Besides.. Roanoke has an all new command staff... Lasky is Exec.. and Kameron Yamaguchi went with his wife over to the Dreamcrusher. Elizabeth is settling down already.."

"We can too, Dear," Phoenix promised eagerly. "You'll make a great mom."

Siaxx smiled. "I'm looking forward to it." as the two Margays followed her. Shonax following moments later before he complained to Phoenix.
