Echos of Family - Part Two

Mission: Mission 42: A House Divided
Location: Various Locations - Starbase 12
Timeline: 1400Hrs September 20th 2391

Orthos regarded Daisy as the two were seated at lunch while Orthos was waiting for the rest of his family to show up.

A Vulcan woman came over. "Stephen?" she inquired.

Orthos regarded his mother as he rose to his feet before giving her a hug. "Hey mom."

"Its good to see you son." T'Sara responded as she hugged him back despite him being bigger then she herself was.

Orthos did the introductions. "Daisy, this is Fleet Admiral T'Sara McKnight. Commanding Officer, Starbase Fifty Four." then he turned to the Vulcan woman who looked like she was in the prime of her life. "Mom, meet, Major Daisy Rohr-McKnight, My mate and mother to Edward."

Fleet Admiral T'Sara McKnight responded as she turned her attention to Daisy. "I greet you." as she lifted her hand, before greeting Daisy in the traditional sense. "Peace and long life to you Daisy McKnight." before she smiled. "I am a Vulcan without logic... I find it... too confining."

Daisy wasn't too sure on how to respond to T'Sara's remarks. She remained polite. "Lovely to meet you too Fleet Admiral McKnight," Daisy said in a cheerful tone. Daisy knew, if anything, this would be an interesting experience.

"Most are unsure of how to deal with me," T'Sara explained. "I accept this as a fact of life." she then shrugged. "If I were a normal Vulcan, I would not show my emotions..." she explained. "Did you bring my grandson?" the Vulcan inquired with a smile.

"Edward wouldn't stand missing a chance to meet his family," Daisy replied. She then picked up Edward. "Captain McKnight meet Edward McKnight, future leader of the Alpha Quadrant." Daisy lifted one of Edward's hands and put it in a fist. Then, in a child's voice Daisy pretended to talk for Edward. "Conquer! Conquer!"

Orthos chuckled softly as T'Sara regarded her grandson, a gentle smile appearing on her face before she did a curtsy before him. "Hello My future liege-lord Edward. I'm T'Sara... your grandmother and future subject... I hope you will rule us well?" she inquired.

"Would you like to hold him?" Daisy asked T'Sara.

"Of course." the older Vulcan woman smiled. "I'd love to."

Orthos watched the entire event with a smile. "When is everyone else showing up?"

"They've been getting here all morning." T'Sara gently received her grandson from his mother as she gently cooed at him. "Hey Edward."

Edward blinked at the woman he didn't know before he seemed to settle with her.

"He likes you." Daisy told T'Sara. "He will be most merciful in his enlightened rule."

"I hope so." T'Sara responded as two more people came over, one of them was built like a NFL lineman or a wrestler but one only needed to look into his eyes to see who he was related to. "Hey guys... We interrupting?" He wore command red and had three pips.

The second person was more restrained but she wore the rank of Master Warrant officer and was in her early thirties, also she wore the grey uniform of Starfleet Special Forces. "Hello. I'm Mary McKnight and this jackass is Iason McKnight. We're two of Dad's kids" she indicated Orthos who was busy greeting his eldest son.

"Yes. you're interrupting your grandmother meeting her newest grandson." Orthos responded.

Daisy looked at the newcomers and waved. "Hello."

Mary McKnight smiled as she regarded Daisy. "Hello. Good to meet you at last." she greeted the younger woman.

Orthos smiled as Edward yawned while his grandmother gently held him in her arms. "Its gonna be a long day for you my liege-lord." T'Sara smiled. "I won't mind if you slept."

"Edward, say hello to your family." Daisy told Edward, who was still in T'Sara's arms. "It is nice to meet you all."

A couple of others came over. "Stephen. Introduce your wife to your kids.." as T'Sara gently slipped her lithe form into the booth across from Daisy.

Orthos indicated his children. "Daisy... this is Iason." as the massive man who was a similar size to his father smiled at Daisy. "Hello Ms. McKnight. Its good to meet the legend at last."

Daisy laughed "I'm hardly a legend!" Daisy looked Iason up and down. "How did you grow so big?"

"Carrots and Spinach." Iason responded with a smile. "Dad speaks highly of you... so well that at times we wondered if this lady was real."

"Speak for yourself son." Iason McKnight grinned. "What junior means is that he got big eating his veggies while I got big on comfort food, pizza's and the like." before Iason turned to Orthos. "You chose well brother."

Orthos smiled. "Daisy chose me."

Julia McKnight smiled as she peered at the infant in her grandmother's arms. "Aww... He's so adorable." she turned to Daisy. "So.. you're Daisy hmmm?" she inquired. "It's great to finally meet you."

Daisy looked at the rank pips on Orthos' children. "Um, not to pry but how old are you Julia?"

"I am thirty four." Julia grinned at the younger woman. "Many of us have families of our own," she added. "My kids are in daycare and my husband is on duty." as her grin widened.

Daisy almost blushed. "Oh, you look much younger." Daisy then pursed her lips. "How do you feel about your father being involved with a person my age?"

"Well that Daisy.." Julia gently sat down next to the younger woman. "Is between you and dad... We knew that Dad would move on after losing mom... and he's got a life to live..."

The younger Iason regarded her as he added. "Dad going for someone of your looks tells me that he's good taste in women."

The older Iason chuckled. "Yeah. Nice move Junior." he responded. "Besides... Stephen doesn't intend to be a widower for the rest of his days.."

Julia smiled. "Dad doesn't keep secrets from us... We've all known of you for a long time now."

Commander Daniel McKnight came over. "Hey guys.." he smiled as he gave his twin brother a hug. "Ahh Steve. Its good to see you."

"You too Dan.." Orthos responded. "You met Daisy?"

"No.. Not yet." Karass responded.

Daisy looked at Karass than back at Orthos. "Um, okay. I think I'm more confused now."

"He's the handsome one. I'm the respectable one." Orthos responded with a smile.

"Don't mind your husband, Clearly he can't think straight." Karass smiled. "I'm glad to meet you at last." as he gently shook her hand. "Its nice to have the family around..." he admitted.

"Thank you." Daisy replied. She had heard about Karass but so far he was not living up to his reputation. "You are very nice person Karass."

Karass chuckled softly. "You heard the horror stories about me I see." he responded. "and you are too kind." he added. "So... what have you heard about me?"

"Oh boy." T'Sara sighed. "Karass, must you?"

"I must." Karass smiled innocently.

Julia regarded this with deep amusement. "Uncle Daniel tends to let people see what they wish to see... but he's around family and he knows we won't stand for his nonsense."

"How dare you speak about me like that young one." Karass tried not to laugh as he clutched at his chest in a dramatic fashion. "Oh be still, thy beating heart."

Daisy laughed. "This family is more fun than watching a Ferengi put live Gagh down his pants."

T'Sara raised an eyebrow while she regarded Daisy. "You were expecting this family to behave poorly?" she inquired as she gently held her sleeping grandson in her arms. "He seems happy." she said softly.

"I was expecting more reserved." Daisy explained. She looked at Edward. "He is shrewd enough to know when to behave."

Julia chuckled softly. "Ahh..." she smiled at the younger woman. "Well Dad simply has good taste in women... and he met someone I like..."

The younger Iason chuckled. "I guess that settles that.."

It was still a little odd for Daisy that Orthos to have children older her.

Orthos gently sat down next to his wife. "I can almost hear you thinking... everyone is older then you.."

"But your still a McKnight..." T'Sara smiled. "One of us, your age is just a number... Stephen chose well."
