Echos of Rage

Mission:
Mission 40: Thirty Pieces of Silver
Location: Various Locations - USS Roanoke
Timeline: 2200Hrs - August 7th, 2391
Commander Torilla Yamaguchi seethed with rage, it was a normal state of mind for her now after what happened to her that morning a week and a half earlier in the Captain's ready room. With Zara throwing a knife at her and Fives. "He tried to kill me." Torilla gently touched her fingertips to the left of her left eye, she knew that medical had done an excellent job in putting her face back together as Lasky had grabbed her and he had every intention of snapping her neck, ending her life once and for all.
She had not seen it coming, she had let her guard down as she trusted those who had caused her the greatest harm. Now she was keeping her distance from Zara Tane and she was also keeping her distance from Lasky who she once regarded as a close friend. Now she regarded him as a walking, breathing death threat to herself and everyone around her including her children.
"You okay mom?" There was no mistaking the deep concern in her eldest daughter's voice as she regarded her mother.
"I will live... What are you gonna do... when the baby comes due?"
"I'm not giving it to Lasky, not in his present frame of mind.... I mean how can I trust him not to harm it, considering what he did to you.. and to me.?"
"I wish I knew what advice to give you without making things worse.." Torilla admitted.
"Mom... I'm not going to give Lasky this baby in his present state... I can't trust him."
"Then the time for talk ... Is past.." Torilla gently soothed her daughter's frazzled nerves.
"Kam and I both want off of this ship... We both stuck on for reassignment elsewhere... and I hope Rachael goes off to another carrier when they become available..." Elizabeth explained. "Lasky... scared the living crap out of me mom... and then there is what he did to you... I will never forgive him for his crimes against our family.."
Torilla had always taught her children to respect all things and to have moderation in all things but she couldn't find the strength to argue with her so she said nothing. "I'd best go... I promised Kam I'd meet him for dinner."
"Alright.." and with that Elizabeth departed as Nalla was arriving.
"Hey Nalla... Whats up?" Torilla greeted the Deltan as her rage faded, being replaced by an inconsolable hatred. "You'll find me to be poor company.." the massive woman admitted softly.
"People tell me I am poor company as well so I do not foresee that as a problem," Nalla spoke. She then looked curiously to Torilla. "There have been reports around the ship about you feuding with senior members of staff. I hope you are satisfactory?."
"You hear correct," Torilla answered. "I see some people don't know how to shut up and leave things be." Yamaguchi sighed softly. "Come on in."
"My mother would use this silence to ask if you wanted to talk about it," Nalla prodded.
"I need to get off this ship Nalla... I can't cope with everything that seems to be happening... the system is breaking down and I am hopeless to stop it.."
"You just need to relax and get away from all the stress triggers," Nalla pointed out gently as she joined Torilla on the sofa.
"Sounds good." Torilla responded. "I need a nice long... vacation.." she sighed.
"Preferably one with your offspring involved. You maternal duties relax you more than any other," Nalla noted from observation.
"Tressa and Nix need their mom around.... I miss them." Torilla admitted. "It'll be nice to spend time with them again.. and I miss my cats... Its not the same when I sleep alone... I got used to Siversides or Pufftail or Jorge curling up with me."
"I find your felines delightful as well," Nalla agreed with a small smile. Shy, like she was not entirely used to displaying affection.
"Jake took the kids and the kitties with him.." Torilla explained. "So I'm alone.." she added. "Its... too quiet.."
"Is there anything I can do to help you alleviate your feelings?" Nalla asked her good friend.
Torilla gently coiled her arms around the other womans's shoulders. "Just.... hold me."
"That is acceptable." Nalla took her jacket off and then wrapped her arms around Torilla. "My mother runs a medical fleet. I am sure I can ask her to find a hospital ship for you if you like."
Torilla closed her eyes. "I dunno.." she responded. "I mean I hate this ship... she's falling apart and.. yet I'm stuck here.."
"This is the only posting I am safe in," Nalla pointed out to Torilla. "If my biological mother were to come to Tranquility, if I were their chief of surgery? She and my mom would kill each other. Here? My mother tells me Tane has pledged to kill my biological mother, should she try to harm me."
"Your biological mother... is a waste of space.." Torilla answered softly. "If Tane don't kill her then I would... She does not deserve to live for what she did to you." Torilla answered quietly.
"It is unfortunate with what transpired," Nalla agreed with a small flinch from past memories. "Mom says as tragic as my past was, Matron Furban would likely have killed me in a blind rage... I would not of reached my scholastic potential if not for the events mentioned."
"Like I said already." Torilla responded quietly as she gently held Nalla against her.
"My offer still stands... I could see if my mother has a MASH coming out of spacedock soon," Nalla spoke eagerly.
"Please." Torilla responded softly.
"You are the first XO Tane has met that has not hurt her," Nalla spoke after a long silence. "Many past XOs of hers have been unkind. Most had connections to better people though, so they antagonized her quite often. Two come to mind, actually, that called here to gloat about getting promoted to commodore."
Yamaguchi found she had no energy to refute the statement so she went along with it. "I didn't know.."
"I only know because she was severely intoxicated after those conversations and hugged me when she came to me for medical relief," Nalla noted in an unamused deadpan. "I am fairly certain she does not remember making indecent overtures to taking me in her bed."
Torilla regarded Nalla as a soft chortle escaped her lips. "Picturing that is amusing... Sorry."
Nalla thought about that declaration a moment before she made a goofy grin. "At the time, no. I was in constant concern about her touching my skin and becoming too numbed to move... But in retrospect, it is funny."
Torilla smiled. "Picturing the events... is somewhat funny.." she responded.
"I numb my pain with meditation..." Nalla paused as she thought about the events with concern. "When people are mean to me, I retreat to my lab so I can deal with that pain without further outside complication. But I do not think Captain Tane believes in meditation or hiding. So she uses unstable chemicals and liquids to remove the pain."
"Drugs and Booze." Torilla responded. "Sometimes she gives up on people too easily .... and other times she tries too hard..."
"She at least tries... which is more than what I am able to do most of the time," Nalla spoke with envy in her eyes.
"You worry too much." Torilla responded. "The kids liked you and so did the cats... I know Elizabeth thinks highly of you.... and she doesn't think highly of anyone except family."
"I suppose you are right," Nalla frowned. For there was not evidence to support Nalla's claims. "All the same, I am here for you in at least a tactile capacity."
Torilla smiled. "Elizabeth does speak well of you.." she responded as a sigh escaped her lips as she gently held Nalla against her. "Sometimes I feel like a babysitter and not the Exec."
"You are at least needed," Nalla spoke with envy. "I am rarely called out of my lab because many do not feel my expertise is warranted."
"That's because most people are imbeciles." Torilla responded quietly as she gently ran her fingertips over Nalla's bald head.
Her touch cause Nalla to instantly relax. Even so far as to close her eyes.
"You are a very kind woman," Nalla spoke after a long moment to indulge in Torilla's touching. "I shall miss you, when you leave."
"I'll miss you as well Nalla." Torilla responded. "I hope you find a man who is worthy of you." she added.
"I would have to talk with my mother about finding a prospective mate," Nalla added hopefully. "Doctor Olmos has better judgement than I do, in finding suitable mates."
"Would a Deltan work?" she inquired. "I know there are a few serving in the fleet.." Torilla responded.
"As a casual coital partner, Deltans are adequate. But not as bonded mates, in front of the First House. As I am the first daughter of my house, I must find a pure Betazoid male willing to join with me in union, so that we would begin to bring the family line back to a more pure line."
"Pure..." Torilla stopped. "Nalla.. really? Is this what you were raised with.... you have been badly treated and poorly neglected."
"It never occurred to me I was neglected in this manner," Nalla said, and took a moment to think about that.
"I never took royal obligations too seriously." Torilla sighed softly.
"Oh..." Nalla was not sure how to feel about that. "For Betazoids, it just means we govern aid those that live in our assigned area to upkeep."
Torilla regarded the smaller woman. "What of those who aren't involved or... don't want it?"
"Betazed is a massive planet. No one house can govern the entire planet alone. That is why the major and lesser houses help. A lot of times, that means having charity balls to pay for expenditures and everyday maintenance on the lands. Or for expanding housing and law enforcement." Nalla frowned as she thought about some of the other house matrons she had met. "It is not a bad charge, unless, of course, you live on land of a house that does not have as many funds or does not care as much - but that is a rare thing to come across. Creating charitable events is one of the key things a First Daughter learns from her matron."
Torilla regarded the small woman in her arms. "Do you ever see you getting what rightfully is your inheritance?"
"My sister is acting in my stead while I pursue my medical career," Nalla informed Torilla as the Deltan gently began to caress Torilla's bare shoulder. "I intend for her to keep that position, at least, so far as the required public appearances go."
Torilla gently drew Nalla against her. "I'm sorry you have to.... deal with that."
"I am not," Nalla answered honestly while she began to undress her lover. "It is a life I am inept to handle on a social and behavioral level, given my sensual overload episodes and inability to read behaviors crucial to high society events."
Torilla raised an eyebrow as she appreciated that Nalla was no longer being the submissive one. "You make a fair point." she admitted as she gently began stripping Nalla's clothing.
Nalla was so used to Torilla's touch at this point, that she did not flinch. She trusted her lover fully. And she very nervously attempted to articulate that with a kiss. It was not very passionate, simply because Nalla was still trying to learn how to master it.
"I do not wish to end our bond, should you leave this ship," Nalla confessed when she came up for air. "...I am not sure I can open myself up to another as I have with you."
"It just takes time Nalla." Torilla responded with a smile. "Time, faith in yourself and trust in your own judgments, everything else flows from there." she slowly smiled. "I will still be around... I don't think Zara will let me go too far... she could request me to command one of the ships in the battlegroup."
"Do you want to still be part of her colony project?" Nalla asked with curiosity.
"I do actually.." Torilla admitted as she shrugged off her shirt and bra, revealing her ample womanly assets. "Considering all the drama that's happened recently."
"We shall continue as often as you are willing then," Nalla spoke with a small, shy smile before she began to relax her lover with her Deltan ways.
Torilla smiled as she settled in, for she knew what was coming.
