After the Fire and the Flames

Mission: Mission 39: By Fire be Purged
Location: Various Locations - USS Roanoke
Timeline: 1400Hrs - August 1st, 2391

ARear Admiral Jake Yamaguchi had borrowed Captain Zara Tane's ready room as he was sorting things out with the Captains of the incoming Federation ships. The USS Song of the East had already arrived and T'Shaamet was jumping up and down to assist.

Jake knew how T'Shaamet thought and he would not deny her. He gently tapped the wall monitor before him as he had asked John Sheridan earlier to put him through to the Dreamcrusher.

Moments later he found himself looking at the face of Captain Zuko. "Well Zuko. You guys ready to tow Roanoke off the line yet?" he inquired.

"We have been ready," Zuko replied," I don't like being this close to the Romulan border with our flagship crippled, so we do need to get moving as soon as possible."

"Agreed... Proceed at your discretion Captain." Jake responded. "Once the three relief ships finish with us, they will look after the boarder area."

Zuko nodded and closed the transmission, then maneuvered Dreamcrusher in position to tow Roanoke. Once she had Roanoke in tow, Dreamcrusher pulled Roanoke into warp, heading for best speed to Starbase 12.

Jake watched the star map as the other ships followed the Dreamcrusher and Roanoke into warp, like a flock of birds.

"Sir," Zara spoke as she stood at attention. Her eyes were red but she was focused in keeping herself together. "Anything else I can get for you?"

Jake blinked as it dawned oh him that Zara was addressing him. "No thank you Zara... you and your guys did amazing work today... despite everything that's happened." he sighed softly. "I intend to see to it that everyone on this crew and those affected get extended shoreleave... " he paused. "If you want... I can take over here while you see to your people?" Jake inquired.

"I should probably see the damage for myself," Zara agreed, though at this point, she was in autopilot.

"Alright... send me your repair list, equipment requisitions and the like.... you know command will keep you waiting for years where as for me, it'll be weeks and this ship while she is your command, she is also my flagship."

"I'll have the list to you in a few hours, Sir." Zara cleared her throat and fought hard against the urge to drink as she nodded and walked heavily out of the room.

Jake nodded. "Alright... Zara... one thing though.. Don't go have a drink... it'll only delay your issues."

"I wasn't planning on it," Zara assured him.

"Alright." Jake went over to the command chair as he gently took a seat. "Zara... don't worry about things up here.. I got this."

"Sir," Zara nodded dutifully, and left her office to go explore the damage and wounded.

Yamaguchi watched her leave, as he resisted the impulse to face-palm. He had asked her repeatedly not to call him sir.
