Captain Bolvar Fordragon smiled as he went into the expansive sickbay facility which was located on deck five, the doors opened at his approach, he looked around as he entered in silence.
Doctor Vilotanzia Bounlutay who wore the military rank of Commander, stood before the wall monitor outside of her office, she stood in at 5'0 in height and a hundred pounds soaking wet, she wore her hair long, with dark pink curls abut what really made her stand out was her dark red eyes which indicated she was not from Earth but rather she was part human and part alien.
"Highlord, what can I do for you?" the smaller woman inquired, a smile on her exotic looking face.
"I'm here for an update on your puzzles... Paul and Selene was turning up big goose eggs and I'm hoping you have something better for me?"
"Nope." 'Violet' as this small woman was nicknamed, simply shook her head as she sighed. "I'm going to disappoint you. If you're asking me that pour guys were used, abused and tortured then the answer is yes, if you're asking about the Romulan's and Reman's, being murdered and their bodies were dumped then yes but what gets me is that I can't tell by who.... they covered their tracks far too well." Bounlutay sighed quietly. "The lab is still processing tests, however... maybe they will surprise me. I am not getting my hopes up, however."
The Highlord watched the smaller woman in silence as he waited, rather then push his people, he gave them a task and let them come to him. "So... you got nothing?"
"I didn't say that." Violet responded. "I can tell that our brain-drained guy, Haskins is his name...Lest I forget, there is something about him that I can't quite put my finger on. Something about his DNA that looks too neat and clean..."
"How do you mean?" The Highlord inquired.
Bounlutay indicated the wall display. "I figured that if I blew it up here, that the answers would unspool themselves for me... It's not working." the small woman admitted.
The door opened and in walked Nathan Bounlutay, he held a PADD in hand as he approached his mother and the skipper. "Hey guys... Sorry for interrupting but here is my homework... the science teacher wanted me to explain my logic better."
Bounlutay knew that this was a very bad time for this but she also knew that the Highlord was not the average skipper, he had also indicated that should funny things happen, that people were to deal with matters in their department rather then placate him he could always wait awhile for the answers, plus it allowed him the chance to know his crew, how they handled the unusual and the weird without fawning over the skipper as some ship crews did.
Bounlutay was about to answer. "Mom... the eleven chromosome doesn't look quite right... neither does the fifteenth..." he paused. "I should go."
"No.." Bounlutay chuckled what he said and she noticed that he was right. "Chromosome Eleven is one of the more disease rich Chromosomes in the human body..." she paused.
"Maybe there is something there..." she paused before she highlighted it, and sure enough she could see it, it was subtle but it was there.
"Mmmm... Let me look at the fifteenth." Bounlutay quickly pulled it up and again, there it was while Nathan retreated into his mothers office. He was exp[ecting to get yelled at for his affront.
"Lovely... do you know what this means?"
The Highlord regarded the small woman before him. "That your son is a genius?"
"No..." Bounlutay paused a moment before adding. "Well, that too.... but it means that I need to go through this guys entire genetic code, line by line..."
"That could take forever." the Highlord responded.
"Yep." Bounlutay responded, a sigh escaping her lips. "My husband is going to be most displeased with me..."
"I'm sure you'll make it up to the Master Chief?" Fordragon inquired, a gentle smile on his lips.
"Oh he'd like that." Bounlutay regarded the Highlord. "The kind of enjoyment that leaves him happy and me, walking funny." she sighed. "Maybe he'll impregnate me and that will assist me with this... by keeping me in one place for an extended period of time."
"I'll leave that for you and the Master Chief to resolve between you two." the Highlord responded. "If you do become pregnant, will that cause issues for you?"
"Yes. It will." Bounlutay responded bluntly. "Which I will attend to at the proper time."
"Fair enough... Well, I had best get out of your hair... and leave you to it... Keep me informed."
"Of course... I'm going to assist Nathan with his work so I can put him to work for me." Bounlutay explained. "Don't worry, he knows how I operate and he can be trusted..."
"I never doubted that Doctor... and I don't think I will need to either, I'll leave how you run your department in your hands and not micromanage you."
"Right." Bounlutay caught her snafu only after she had finished her sentence, her assumption was that the Highlord was a micromanager but clearly he was not.
The Highlord turned and departed Sickbay, leaving Bounlutay to tend to her work.
