Mission: Mission 33: Losing the Peace
Location: Various Locations - USS Roanoke
Timeline: 0800Hrs - June 5th, 2391

Lt Commander Tom 'Fives' Lasky walked down the hallway as he stopped by the ships main school, he watched as the parents who came here were dropping off their kids, one of them had fallen over as the girls father gently reached down and picked her up, soothing her and reassuring her its alright.

Fives watched in silence.

When the last parent turned and departed after waving goodbye, did he feel it was time to move on, his realization coming to him as he spotted Zara Tane walking down the hallway. "Mornin, skipper."

"Something the matter?" Zara asked with concern. "You seem a bit... away at the moment."

"I want a family of my own... I'm the last Lasky. It's time I changed that and did something about it..." a sigh escaped his lips.

"Ummm...." Zara pulled the zipper down on her collar as it got a bit warm for her. "I'm touched, but I don't know if I'm the one you want to have a kid with."

"Actually I just need to go and see the lady in question.... and yes, she is known to you in various ways..."

"Ohh..." It had just dawned on her with Tom said. "She's quite the lady. But you are also an extraordinary man. I've no doubt you'll be able to have that family."

Fives regarded Zara. "Do you know who I'm talking about?" he inquired as he walked beside her.

"I do," Zara confirmed sadly. "She's my one and only friend on this ship. So her happiness means a lot to me."

"I'm worried about her.... I need to talk to her before she decides to abort.." he said quietly as he sighed.

"I'd pick a moment when she's not wound tight," Zara suggested. "She's having to co-parent her twins with a woman she never planned to have to share her babies with... It's a stress on her I can't being to understand, but it's one that has taken a toll on her."

"I know... Elizabeth and Kameron has told me as much." Fives responded.

"Just be honest with her and things should fall into place," Zara advised.

"I've known Torilla for almost five years now Zara.." he regarded her as they approached a turbolift. "I've watched her kids grow from teenagers into adults and Jake from a Captain to a Rear Admiral.... there is no lying to that woman... not even if I wanted to..."

"So what's got you so far away from her?" Zara asked as she continued to walk with him.

"I needed some time to think about whether or not raising an infant is actually what I wanted.." he admitted. "I should go talk to her."

"A lot of times, what we don't want is because of something we fear. And it isn't until you're right up against that fear that you realize you're no longer afraid," Zara smiled at him. "It's the purpose of a life cycle. You're ready for a new chapter."

Fives slowly smiled as he nodded. "I want this.... to become a father, yes it was an accident but... still." he paused. "I still want it."

"If you need help, come find me," Zara offered. "Granted, it might be easier to wait until she's done for the day... Tired people are easier to talk to."

Fives paused before he nodded. "Might be a wise plan Zara." he responded. "Torilla has had to deal with a lot in recent times.."

"I wish you luck in that discussion," Zara noted wholeheartedly.

"Thanks... I'll talk to her when she goes off duty at the end of today's shift." he added

"Sounds good," Zara encouraged. "Let me know if you need anything, Fives."

"I will... Thank you Zara." and with that he turned right down a hallway and disappeared into a turbolift.
