Rachael Yamaguchi regarded her daughter as she dropped her off at Roanoke's school. "Go on sweetie. I'll be back later to pick you up."
Saki gently gave her mother a hug. "Okay..." and with that the eight year old turned and walked into the school area.
Lakai and Rykar had to take some time to get their own two kids into school. It took a fair bit of paperwork that they needed to get sorted, but today was the first day that Kualla and Olnavi would be attending Roanoke's school. Given the state of the ships crew, Rykar was a bit surprised that there were this many children on board, she didn't expect there to be so many.
Rykar then approached the teacher with her two kids, both of them whom where staying very close to their mother.
The teacher watched the children separate from their parents as they all entered the school area when she noticed an officer who she didn't recognize. "Yes Commander. What can I do for you.?" the fortyish looking human woman inquired as a smile appeared on her face."
Rykar looked down at Kualla, whom was hugging her tail rather tightly,
"Yes I am just bringing Kualla and Olnavi in for their first day. I take it you are not that familiar with Arakor children are you."
"No. I have never heard of the species.... Do you require anything special for them?" the human woman inquired, it was a fair question.
"School hours are from eight fifteen in the morning to three thirty in the afternoon. The children have three breaks... the first is at ten and is fifteen minutes, the second is lunch and is thirty minutes and the last break is at one forty five and is also fifteen minutes."
Rykar raised an eyebrow in irritation, then replied flatly, "I am aware of the schedule, I'm not a moron." Rykar considered warning the teacher about the shenanigans that Kualla would occasionally pull, but some sixth sense told her not to do it. So Rykar just continued with, "No. What I am going to mention is that our culture is quite different than what you may be used to. My species places high value in honesty, so when dealing with my two, try not to be upset should they me truthful about something. I know you humans don't place a lot of value in honesty, so all I ask, is that you, unlike the last teacher, act like a mature adult should my children say something honest."
The human scowled. "I do not appreciate your tone in here Commander." she responded a trifle hotly.
Saki meanwhile sighed. "I hate this place.." she said quietly.
Rykar gave the teacher a look, replying, "Yeah, and I don't like yours either. But I'll forgive you for once, act mature and we wont have a problem."
Teval then walked in, with his slew of kids, Today was also the first day for his own kids and Hakaya's two as well. Looking at the teacher and Rykar, he asked," Is there a problem here."
"Yes... I was saying that I don't appreciate this being's tone..." the human teacher responded with a haughty tone. "And who might you be?"
Teval crossed his arms, saying in a relatively diplomatic tone, "I'm commander Teval Vakar, ships airboss and second officer. And yes, Lt. Commander Rykar here, she is a very honest, if somewhat blunt person, that is how her species operates. But really, if you are going to have a problem with that, then I suggest that you spend some time hanging out with some klingons, I'm sure that after their company, you would appreciate that Rykar doesn't act on that level."
"Lovely.." the older woman sighed softly. "In any case...lets move on..."
"Ah! More new kids for you to play with," Ennis Cullen spoke as he escorted Sarah into the classroom.
"Yeah..." Sarah was less than excited. Not because she did not want to meet new kids, but because she did not like to deal with the bullies. She did not have enough chocolate because her dad changed his access code.
"Hey..." Ennis hugged his daughter. "Schools are better than sitting in front of a computer all day."
"I know," Sarah agreed and hugged Ennis back. "I'll hang with Saki, in case you're busy again."
"All right... But if something is bothering you, you'll tell me. Right?" He suspected something was going on with Sarah but the girl was being stubborn.
"I will. But I'm fine," Sarah insisted and departed from him to go sit with Saki and the kittens.
Rykar had to coax both Kualla and Olnavi into their seats, as neither of them seemed to want to stay in the classroom. Kualla continued to Eye the teacher with suspicion while Teval succeeded in rounding up all the Kurokuri children and getting them to sit down. Naturally they all sat next to each other.
Saki meanwhile was sitting down, she clearly hated the place as she smiled at Sarah. "Hey... hows it going?"
"Hi Saki," Sarah remarked dully as she watched her dad leave. "Me da changed his passcodes last night... I don't have enough to pay them."
Saki nodded. "Aunt Elizabeth did the same thing as did a couple of my other relatives..."a sigh escaped her lips.
"Maybe I can offer to do their homework," Sarah spoke skeptically as she adjusted her glasses.
"You tried that yesterday... It didn't work.." Saki responded. "We need another idea.."
"I dunno what else to do," Sarah spoke as she shook her head. "Maybe say I don't feel well..."
