The Fallen Will Rise Again

Location: Various Locations - USS Roanoke
Timeline: 0800Hrs - March 21st, 2391

The doors to turbolift one opened and out walked the only Draenei female assigned to the USS Roanoke. "Commander. I have a plan.." she went quickly to Commander Yamaguchi's side as she produced a large PADD. "I can make some modifications to a prototype Artificial Intelligence program I've been working on."

"Go on.." Torilla stood up from the Captain's chair as she looked at the Draenei. "Here sir... I can add this to the runabouts.."

Torilla listened to what the other woman said as she accepted the PADD from her. "Alright... If we do this.... do you need a pilot.?"

"I do.... yes.." Wintersnow responded.

"Alright... go get started... I'll clear this with the skipper." and with that she went over to the ready room door as she tapped the chime.

"It's open," Zara called out to the door.

The door opened and Torilla Yamaguchi walked through the door, PADD in hand. "Captain..." she addressed Tane who was seated behind her desk. "Our science Chief has a plan to rescue our people..." and with that Torilla handed Tane the PADD in question. "She wants to use an Advanced AI system that she's been working on to monitor various systems so we can run with reduced crews...to operate the Runabout's computer... I told her to proceed... but... I want to go as her pilot.."

"Uh huh..." Zara nodded skeptically.

Yamaguchi slowly sat down in the chair. "I want to bring them home Zara... for thirty one days... I've done nothing but sit at your right side, worrying and fretting, watching as we're losing our pilots... and... members of my family... All I have left... is Elizabeth.. " she paused as she fought to control her emotions. "Let me do something... Instead of sitting around, doing nothing.."

"Walk me through this idea again, if you wouldn't mind?" Zara insisted.

"What we have is the equivalent of an operator headspace and timing error... so the gun is jamming.." Yamaguchi explained softly, it was clear she was under a great deal of stress and strain. "The computers on the fighters and the runabouts can't process the signal load from the timing differences inside and outside the anomaly.." she paused. "I need a moment.."

"Take as long as you need," Zara allowed with sympathy.

Torilla rose to her feet as she went over to the replicator. "My babies... all of them are in harms way and all I have left of my kin is Elizabeth, she feels the same way I do except she's buried herself in work.... she asked Nalla to double her workload..."

"Yeah... She's gone fucking insane if she's gone to Furban for help," Zara whistled in amazement.

Yamaguchi leaned up against the wall so she was facing Zara. "I've already missed so much... my granddaughter and the twins..." she sucked in a lungful of air as she fought to keep her self control but one didn't need to know her to know that she was failing. "I feel so... helpless..." Yamaguchi got out before raising a hand to cover her eyes as her control finally crumbled.

"You can lead the rescue effort. Take the new Intel Chief with you," Zara suggested lightly.

Yamaguchi made her way over to the sofa as she sat down, her legs went out from under her but she landed on the sofa. "I'm... just gonna sit here... a moment.." she paused. "Mind if I help myself?" she indicated the bottle that Zara had in the corner.

"Have as much as you like," Zara nodded as she looked to her friend with much sympathy.

Yamaguchi lifted the bottle as she selected a glass, then she poured herself a glass, before she put the bottle away and then she lifted the glass before taking a sip. "I will bring them home..."

"Make sure you're sober before you leave the ship," Zara pressed gently.

Yamaguchi regarded Zara with her dark brown eyes, a smile playing at her lips. "Do you know what alcohol does to me?" as she slowly smiled at Tane.

"I do... So we'll celebrate later when you're well and truly plastered," Zara promised with a huge grin.

"I look forward to it. " Yamaguchi responded with a smile. "I know Elizabeth is planning her wedding reception and she's also planning my twins baby shower."

"Even more reason to get plastered," Zara winked at her friend.

"Good..." Yamaguchi poured her drink back.
