Mission: Mission 28: Those who Remain
Location: Various Locations - USS Roanoke
Timeline: 1300Hrs - February 24th, 2391

Eight Ball sat drinking her coffee and looking out through the view window. Lynx came up behind her. "What are you thinking about?" Lynx asked her.

"I miss Taffy." Eight Ball brooded. "She kept my spirits up and was a good training partner."

"Yeah, I miss her too." Lynx acknowledged.

Then, A tall and middle aged man walked into the briefing room. Lynx moaned "Oh, not you." she said aloud.

"Hello Lynx." the man acknowledged Lynx. "I guess I'm hard to forget."

"Yes you are." Lynx replied. "And I really did put some effort into trying to forget you."

"Um, Lynx, who is he?" Eight Ball asked.

"This is Chief Malakai Kendal, the biggest ass ever to fly for Star Fleet." Lynx answered.

"Oh, you say that now but after a while you come to accept the fact that I'll carry the flight." Malakai told them.

"Why do you think that?" Eight Ball asked. Lynx rolled her eyes as she knew what was coming.

"It's obvious, your skirts." Malakai told her flatly.

Eight Ball had a stunned look on her face. "Are you implying that because we are females we are inferior pilots?" Eight Ball asked.

"I'm not implying anything. It's a known fact." Malakai told her without emotion.

Eight Ball's face grimaced. Lynx turned to Eight Ball "Just let it go. He's only going to get worse." Lynx told her.

"No, no. This isn't right." Eight Ball shot back at Lynx. Eight Ball then looked again at Malakai. "Females are just at good at flying as males."

"Don't make me laugh." Malakai told Eight Ball.

Eight Ball's face flushed red with anger. Her anger turned into a malicious grin. "So," Eight Ball began "Do you think Phoenix is a better pilot than you?"

"Of course she is." Malakai coolly answered.

"Ha!" Eight Ball yelled. "So there is a female who is superior to male pilots!"

"No. Phoenix doesn't count." Malakai told Eight Ball.

"What!" Eight Ball shouted. "Why?"

"Because Phoenix is a freak of nature." Malakai responded. "If you take Phoenix and split her into three people she would still be a fighter ace. The problem is that she has the discipline problems of seven fighter pilots."

"Eight Ball, just let it go already." Lynx told the woman. "He just does that to annoy people."

"Wait until Typhoon meets this guy." Eight Ball told Lynx.

"You mean Lieutenant T'kalla?" Malakai asked. "Yeah I need to talk to that guy about splitting the two of you females among us males. You know, to split the weakness up. Typhoon can take Lynx and I'll take on the burden of Eight Ball."

"Typhoon is a female you buffoon!" Eight Ball shot back.

"Three females in one flight? No wonder the poor guy before me left. Did he have a nervous breakdown?" Malakai asked.

"The 'guy' who's place your taking was a female and a really good pilot." Eight Ball told Malakai.

"A flight made up of females! No wonder the CAG grounded you." Malakai stated.

"No, Taffy has her wings. They just transferred her that's all." Eight Ball told him.

"I'm thinking the CAG got tired of having one flight nonoperational and moved your girl so he could break up the old flight and get it operational again." Malakai conjectured.

"No! That's not true at all!" Eight Ball told Malakai.

"Yeah, anyways, I need some fresh coffee." Malakai told the two as he was leaving.

"Could you get me some fresh coffee?" Lynx asked.

"That would be extra work for me." Malakai told her as he left.

Eight Ball was red with anger. "I want to feed him to Toshnarr." she told Lynx.

"No you don't." Lynx replied to Eight Ball. "He would give poor Toshnarr some serious digestive problems."

Boomer came around the corner. "Yes.. he would... and Toshnarr wouldn't eat him... even if you cooked that piece of shit to a crisp...."
he commented. "Typhoon is the leader of your flight... not him... clear?"

"Yes, Sir." Eight Ball acknowledged.

"We're not going to be the problem Sir." Lynx told him. "His head is so big he can hardly fir it into a helmet."

"Well.. you guys have come a long way since the big wing oversize." he responded. "If Mr. Ego gets out of hand... I'll deal with him."
