Teval and Hakaya both where in the recovery room, Teval laying on the bed and Hakaya in the chair next to him. He had his tail curled around him, and she was gently rubbing his ears.

"How long did they say you had to stay," Hakaya asked.

Teval was still quite weak from surgery, but he managed to say weakly, "Two days, but i will be on very light duty for the next three weeks at least."

Hakaya nodded," Well, at least your OK.

Teval was still woozy from the drugs, managing," I don't really feel O.K."

Hakaya didn't really say anything further, just looking at her brother. He really looked quite pathetic. Teval hadn't eaten in well over a week and as a result was dangerously malnourished. Hakaya could actually make out his ribs. His fur was matted in several area's and generally just really unhealthy looking. His whiskers had a major droop in them. Neither of them really said anything, when a few minutes later.

Siaxx came over. "Hey Teval... how ya feeling?" she inquired with a wide smile before she gently ran a few fingers through the fur on his head. "Can I get you anything?"

Teval shook his head slightly," No not really, thanks though," as he curled his tail closer to him.

"Fair enough... " Siaxx sat down at his bedside. "I heard you had quite the issue.."

Teval replied quietly, "well, my own nano-probes where eating my insides out, that was not a fun experience.

"Oh... so one of your implants was causing issues.." Siaxx responded. "That explains a lot.." she paused. "Well... I know you'll be hungry soon so.. a word to the wise... don't gorge on your food..."

Teval's ear twitched," Yeah I cant even think about food right now."

"No worries.." Siaxx smiled as the gently petted him. "You're sitting in bed which for now is the main thing... just relax and pester the nurses for anything you need or want okay?"

Teval purred lightly but didn't say anything. Hakaya then got up on the bed, sitting crossed legged style, and Teval moved to lay his head across her lap, and cuddling with her tail, which Hakaya didn't mind.

Siaxx smiled as she rose to her feet. "I'll be in my office... if you need anything alright." and with that she turned and departed.

Hakaya nodded and just simply cuddled with her brother, whom was quietly purring. She didn't even catch herself dozing off.

"One might argue she's had it rougher than you," Tane pointed out quietly as she entered the some moments later.

Hakaya and teval woke up rather suddenly. Taking a couple of moments to realize what was going on, Teval asked groggily, "What, what do you mean by that."

"She worried a lot about you. Nearly came apart, I think," Tane answered as she sat a bottle of Andorian ale on Teval's table. "You should feel very blessed to have someone that cares about you that much."

Teval looked at Hakaya saying, "Well, for 60 years all we really had was each other. Especially during our time as field operatives, all we did was keep each other safe." Teval lifted his arm up and rubbed Hakaya's cheek, causing her to purr in response. " We both have had close calls like this before, though I think this one was probably the worse one yet. If it wasn't for Nalla, I probably wouldn't be here now."

Hakaya didn't even want to think about that possibility, and she wasn't really sure how to make it up to Nalla either, but she wanted to find a way.

"I'm not sure if the kid can actually understand what she did for your family," Zara spoke a bit skeptically. "But she spends most her time in the lab, if you want to thank her when you're better."

Hakaya nodded, "I think we both will."

"So you guys need anything?" Tane asked a bit nervously. She was not at bad at social situations like Nalla was, but her luck with people on this ship, especially the medical folks, were very poor.

Teval and Hakaya shook their heads, with Teval saying, "Not really."

"We still don't know what caused the implant to fail. Furban took it to her lab, though. But that in of itself is ominous, considering she's insistent that her pet project isn't finished yet," Zara shrugged in frustration. "We also don't know who created the virus, but Furban's also insistent that it was bioengineered."

Hakaya shrugged, "I'm not sure if we can find out what caused the thing to fail, though Aerin suspects that possible defects plus damage from the polaron weapon may have caused it, but there is no way to be sure without consulting an Akurian whom is more familiar with them."

"Did Aerin say what effect being without the implant will have on your system?" Tane asked with concern.

Teval gave a small shrug, "Mainly just reduced resistance to high end bioweapons. But there are still three remaining functional implants in me, so its not a significant issue. The implants are only designed to stop bugs that my normal immune system cannot handle. They can also resist hostile nanoprobes, normally."

"Wow..." Zara whistled. Truly impressed. "Not much is known about your race, but this sort of shit is an engineer's wet dream."

Teval looked back up at the ceiling," Well I don't remember anything about them personally, but from what Aerin tells me, the akurian confederation is probably thousands of years ahead of the federation technologically. Though at the same time he does say that the federation does have a few technologies that the Akurians never developed."

"Well if we get ten more Furbans in the fleet, we could probably knock it down to a few hundred years behind," Tane smiled brightly. "...But I would demand hazard pay to command that many Furbans."

Hakaya muttered, "I don't think I would want to know what would happen if one of them touched another."

"So you two got any plans for shore leave?" Zara asked.

Teval shook his head," No, I'm saving my leave days for when the kittens are born. I'll be taking my leave then, at the same time as Karryn's maternity leave."

Hakaya added, "So will I."

"You can still horse around on the station," Zara suggested. "Until we get a new mission, doesn't really matter what folks do."

Teval replied quietly, "Yeah, I don't think I'll be doing much of anything for the next little while."

"Well you let me know if you need anything. I'll see what I can borrow, if we don't have it," Zara promised.

Teval and Hakaya shook their heads, with Hakaya saying "No, I think we are good."

"You two rest up then," Zara spoke in parting before she left the room.

Hakaya laid down next to her brother and began to cuddle with him. Both kurokuri where asleep within minutes.
