Assignment Brief

Posted on Thu Feb 27th, 2020 @ 3:30pm by Director Tienn Gyce & Grand Admiral April Yamaguchi

Mission: Mission 22: Quarantine
Location: Various Locations - Starbase 40012
Timeline: 0800Hrs - January 5th, 2391

Gyce had arrived on Starbase 12 fairly quickly. And as soon as she had stepped into the station, a yeoman to the station's flag officer had directed the Bajoran to Yamaguchi.

"You asked to see me, Admiral?" Gyce spoke as she stood at attention, upon entering April's office.

"Come in and relax.." April commented as she was not sitting behind her desk but rather she was standing over by the window. "I was lost in thought.." the taller then average woman admitted. "I have an assignment for you... one requiring your rather specific talents.." April commented. "I'm hearing rumors of misconduct aboard that ship... and I'd like to separate fact from fiction..."

April came back over to the desk as she sat on her desk rather then sit in her chair, indicating that she was not the average Admiral. "Help yourself to the replicator if you're wanting anything."

Gyce limped with her cane, over to the replicator. She pulled out hasparat and a glass of water before she had a seat on one of the chairs.

"Well my sister-in-law is aboard that ship along with most of her family... so I want someone who is objective and can handle.... ugly things."

"It is the Roanoke, Ma'am. Even her captain is written up by admiralty on a bi-monthly basis, just about. Mostly for stupid, small things," Gyce spoke with a small smile. "I can be objective, Ma'am. But her reputation speaks for itself."

"Yes I often hear my other ship Captain cursing the name Roanoke or the name of her Captain." April commented with a smile. "In any case... I heard a rumor that someone on that ship committed a major offense... I wanted the best person available to handle it, that brought you to me." April indicated the Nebula class starship which was presently ensconced inside a dry-dock pod some distance away. "In any case, she's in quarantine because of a virus that somehow... got loose aboard her."

"Is the ship safe to board yet?" Gyce asked with concern.

"No.. not yet... so you'll be staying here aboard the starbase for the next twelve days until she's safe and all that wonderfulness." she turned her attention from the window back to the Bajoran woman standing before her. "Her crew are all in isolation, pending medical testing... so I'm going to get you to meet with them, so they get to know you... Your boss aboard the ship will be Lt Commander Jacen Saint."

"I was not aware of being transferred to the crew. I was given the impression that I was simply an outsider, looking into some of the claims," Gyce pointed out respectfully.

April nodded. "You are... you'll deal with Jacen Saint as he's the Security Chief and Second Officer." she explained. "you won't be a part of the crew but don't let them shove you around or bully you for it." She paused. "Torilla Yamaguchi is the Executive Officer.. some of the rumors I hear swirls around her... and Captain Zara Tane needs no introductions as I'm sure you've heard all sorts of interesting details about her."

"She's got four complaints about possessing Klingon narcotics. And she's suspected of swiping Rear Admiral Bin'Tok's flagship's port-side power coupling. Two years ago, I think," Gyce smirked at that. "A thief and a rogue, many believe her to be."

"My sister thinks the world of her apparently," Yamaguchi explained. "Maybe you will be able to remind her that she has to follow the regs... same as everyone else.."

"If Captain Tane doesn't listen to Admiral Brooks, I doubt she'll listen to me, Ma'am. But I'll try," Gyce noted with a half-smile. "In light of my last assignment, I do feel obligated to thank you. At least in trusting me on this case."

"You did the right thing Lieutenant. Never question that..." April responded. "If anyone ever tells you otherwise. Make them bleed for their error in judgement."

"Inflicting violence isn't something I try to do often," Gyce corrected with a half-frown.

"Fair enough..." April commented as a smile. "I was speaking figuratively. Not literally."

"Why does HQ suddenly care about Roanoke's roguish antics, Admiral?" Gyce asked mostly out of curiosity.

"Apparently there was an incident aboard the Roanoke... someone got killed or something like that," April explained. "Its all rather murky... So. They asked for the best to go in and sort it out. This brings you... to me."

"I'll not let you down then," Gyce promised with a smile.

"Alright.... then I'll let you go about your investigation, keep me informed please and thanks.."

"Yes Ma'am," Gyce noted with a dutiful nod.
