Mission: Mission 19: Taking out the Garbage
Location: Various Locations - USS Roanoke
Timeline: 1200Hrs - December 25th, 2390

Siaxx Dvald was sitting at her desk as she found herself regarding Jacen Saint who clearly wanted something as she raised an eyebrow. "Can I assist you?"

"Just thought I would stop by, see how things are going in Sickbay," he said while standing in the doorway and leaning against the doorframe. "Stopped by to pick up the incident reports for the bar fights, just so I have them on record."

"Working on Torilla's case and decided to take a break."

"Indeed sir?" Siaxx had her own opinion regarding Jacen Saint. "If she goes to the slammer because of you..... You and I are going to have a very serous problem to deal with sailor?" she inquired as she pointed her pen at him as if it were a phaser. "You didn't read the report did you..?"

"Why does everyone think that I am aiming for Commander Yamiguichi to be tossed in a cell in New Zealand?" he asked while coming into the room and walking over to the replicator. "Mind if I get something to drink? and would you want something?"

Siaxx indicated the replicator. "Please. help yourself.... I'll have a glass of Orange punch with a squeeze of lemon and pineapple please?" as a smile graced her delicate face. "The answer to your first question was that Torilla was protecting her young from a fat, useless waste of space..."

Jacen first ordered Siaxx's drink and then a cup of coffee with cream and sugar before he presented the blue doctor with her drink. He took a seat in front of the doctor's desk and match her gaze as he gave a shrug "Look, personally I applaud the Commander's actions, I cannot fault her for something that I would have done myself...she followed a course of natural justice, but unfortunately I can't ignore or brush this under the carpet like everyone seems to be wanting me to do. While it sounds crazy, a trial is her best option, especially given the fact that she was a telepath and she was experience psionic feed back from her injured child...and keep in mind I just do the investigation, the prosecution is whole other department and I can only make a recommendation as to whether to pursue it or not."

Siaxx accepted her drink as she took a sip. "A trial will also scuttle her career..." she responded. "and I don't feel like delivering her twins with her in a jail cell.. Her husband would never forgive that... neither would anyone else for that matter.."

"It would scuttle her career if it was more than manslaughter and she is convicted," he said while taking a drink from his mug. "Yes even if she is acquitted, there will still be a mark on her record as having done this and it will take her out of command candidacy for six months, but it is better for her in the long run and she won't be looking over her shoulder for the rest of her life if she hid it."

Siaxx raised an eyebrow "Did you read what this guy did to Wukari?" she inquired.

"I did in fact, this is not my first go round as the lead investigator in a case like this...a golf club is the way to go if you want to deal a whole lot of hurt to someone." he said matter-of-factly to the Bolian woman as he gave a sigh.

"That is all going into consideration with everything else...unless you want to take my job too?" he asked her.

"She's facing the end of her flying career because she can't use her hands... and you want to hang Torilla for this.." Siaxx responded. "Personally... I'd dismiss the entire case and not waste my time on it.." the Bolian simply shrugged. "But... thats just me and I'm not you..." she finished her drink. "Oh I think I have enough troubles of my own without adding your work onto my already considerable workload."

"Everyone is under this strange impression that I have the power to pick and choose what cases I investigate." Jacen said as he set the cup of coffee down on the Bolian's desk and sat forward, running a hand through his hair.

"I sympathize with the situation of the victims of that fat fuck's assault, everyone of them...but I swore an oath to uphold the laws of the Federation and the Uniform Code of Starfleet Justice, until I get the red light from JAG that this case is a no go or there is overwhelming evidence that it was simply an accident, like the incident with Toshnarr."

Siaxx sipped her drink, she allowed the cold liquid to sooth her troubled spirit. "Lets be honest..." the small Bolian commented. "Torilla felt what Rachael went through... and now she's facing the prospect of going to jail..."

"Which lands her in the territory of diminished capacity in the eyes of the law and brings what she did down to manslaughter because she still pulled the trigger and killed the man. Scum bag he may have been."

"Her career is still toast and you know it." Siaxx said quietly. "But considering your background... why do you care about the law?" she commented. "considering what happened to you"

Jacen thought about just getting up and walking out then and there as he looked at the woman sitting across from him. What right did she have to question him about his past, especially that?

He sighed and finished off his drink as he sat back and tried to figure out something witty to say. Everything he thought of though just came back dripping with acid so instead he sat his cup down as he stood up. "You know what doc, I am going to be nice...you don't get a fuck you or the impolite cold shoulder."

He looked at her from the other side of the desk and gave a mirthless smirk. "Though you best remember sometimes it is better to just let sleeping dogs lie."

With that he left Siaxx's office and knew just were he was going after this.

Siaxx watched in silence as he walked out the door. 'Are you threatening me Saint'. The small Bolian thought to herself. 'I hope not...'
