Mission: Mission 15: Old Ghosts
Location: Various Locations - USS Roanoke
Timeline: 1700Hrs, December 8th, 2390

Lt Commander Siaxx Dvald smiled as she regarded the smaller Human woman who was brand new aboard. "Welcome to the Roanoke Saki, mind if I call you Saki?"

The Asian woman from Okinawa, Earth smiled. "Not at all, Doctor. I assume you prefer a first-named basis with all your people?"

"I do yes, It helps me keep the stress levels down, it also helps people to feel wanted and respected. Maybe not by the rest of the crew but you'll be respected by me. It might not be a lot but..."

Saki smiled. "No that sounds great Doctor, having to work for respect when it should automatically be given is a serious pain... now what is the nature of my assignment, you requested someone with skills in pregnancies, newly born children and young children, Starfleet Medical had six names on their list and I was the only one who answered yes."

"Yeah, Admiral Crusher explained that to me earlier today when she called," Siaxx responded. "I wasn't sure of what to do before she told me you were coming."

"So what's your emergency?" Wakabayashi inquired.

"Not an emergency as such... more like a lingering issue that's getting worse..."

"Does this issue have a name?" Wakabayashi raised an eyebrow as a warm smile appeared on her lips.

"Torilla and Rachael Yamaguchi. Here are their files." Dvald handed the shorter woman a PADD with the relevant information on it.

Saki accepted the PADD as she gave it the once over. "Mmm.." Wakabayashi blinked, this was a surprise as it was rare for a mother and a daughter to be pregnant at the same time, much less be living together. "I assume the daughter's pregnancy was an accident.?"

"Something like that, yes."

"Okay." the nurse responded. "Then I'll assume she'll be a high risk case and proceed from there... What about her mother..?"

"Commander Torilla Yamaguchi. Here's her file." Siaxx handed the short woman a PADD, Saki accepted it and began reading. "Mmmm... I now understand why you asked specifically for someone of my skill set."

"Yes.. You see the issue I have?"

"I do, yes... Not to worry... I'll take these two cases off of your hands... I'd like to meet with Rachael first... her file says she's ... thirteen.." Saki blinked. "She's very young to be having children..." she paused. "But the sooner I meet her, the better."

"I'll call her down right away."

Wakabayashi had meant the next morning but she wasn't going to protest. "I'll meet the Commander during her next checkup, when exactly is that?"

"Two days from now." Siaxx answered with a smile as she tapped her combadge "Dvald to Yamaguchi, Rachael you awake?"

The response was quick. "Yeah Siaxx... whats up?"

"When you have a few minutes to yourself, I was wondering if you could swing by, I have your obstetrician as well as your paperwork, y'know... for your reading pleasure..."

"I'll be down shortly.. Thanks Siaxx."

"We'll be waiting for you, Dvald out." as she tapped her combadge a second time.

A few minutes later the door opened and in came Rachael Yamaguchi, she came over to the CMO's office as she knocked on the door. Siaxx's voice came through the closed door. "Its Open!"

Rachael tapped the door release, the door opened before her as she entered as Siaxx was sitting at her desk, as expected but there was someone else in here which Rachael herself didn't know. "You requested my presence?"

"Yes.." Siaxx commented. "Please come in... This is Saki Wakabayashi, she'll be helping you cope with your pregnancy." she turned to the Asian woman. "Saki, this is Rachael." Siaxx handled the introductions. "Right... I have to go, I'm needed in the main sickbay."
and with that Siaxx turned and walked out the door, leaving Rachael and Saki alone to chat.

"A pleasure to meet you Saki." and with that, Rachael shook hands with the other woman. "Please come in, have a seat... I realize that I might sound like I'm in a rush but... Rachael... you know how unusual your case is right?"

"No Doctor, I actually don't.." Rachael responded.

Saki smiled. "Ahh.. first off, I'm not big on titles and for a young lady such as yourself, being pregnant at your age can produce some frightening side effects, I am here to help deal with them when they arise and help you cope with them as well."

"Side effects...?" Rachael's eyes widened.

"Yes... Now take a deep breathe, Rachael, calm yourself... You are an unusual case because of your mixed ancestry, your mother is full Halanan while your father is full Human... this will present some unusual side effects... your child will probably inherit your various abilities." she then smiled. "Now do not worry about a thing... we will get you through this, myself, your mother and your counselor." she gently placed her hand on Rachael's shoulder. "Everything will be alright... I've helped over forty other ladies and girls such as yourself so this is not my first dance..."

Rachael nodded. "Okay... so you've done this before...?"

"Oh yes, Ms Yamaguchi, you are hardly unique in this regard... now, have you decided what you wanted to do about the infant, did you consider..?" the leading nature of the question was obvious, she was discussing an abortion. Rachael shook her head. "No. I'm not going to do that... It goes against my principles."

"Alright... so you want to look after this child.... very well." Saki commented. "Then I'll be the one looking after your various medical needs but I know you have one last appointment with Doctor Dvald, scheduled for two days right?"

"Yeah..." Rachael answered. "Are you going to sideline me?"

"Not at present, I'm going to look you over with Doctor Dvald and the two of us will discuss it with you at that time.... but a word to the wise, if I may?"

"Sure Doc..."

"Saki.." Saki smiled as she sighed. "Rachael, I'm not going to bite if you call me by name... I won't be offended in the least.." she explained.

"Okay... Saki... Alright, whats your word of advice?"

"Don't worry about things you can't control and I recommend starting to slow down, you'll need your strength for later, you'll also need a lot more energy then what you have, I've read your medical file and it reads like a novel, you must slow down or this baby will suck the life right out of you."

Rachael nodded. "Alright... I'll work on that..." she paused. "I'm so used to running around.."

"Well.. don't." Saki smiled. "Let someone else do some work for a change.... I'll be having this conversation with your mother as well when she and I meet in two days time..." the Asian woman smiled. "Don't be worrying about anything at all Rachael, we will get you through this, okay?"

"Okay.." Rachael nodded her head, still processing what she was being told.

Saki gently placed her hands on Rachael's shoulders before taking the teenagers hands in her own. "I mean it sweetie, you're mom, your Doctor, your counselor and I, we will all be here for you whenever you need us, twenty four hours a day, three hundred and sixty five days a year.... we're here for you."

Now Rachael really did smile. "Alright.... thanks for caring Saki.... its...different that I was expecting."

"You were expecting an old guy who would be overly eager to poke and prod rather sensitive parts of you... right?" Saki grinned at the younger woman.

"Ummm Yeah.." Rachael turned a shade of deep brown.

Saki chuckled softly as she grinned at the teenager. "Well... I don't want to poke and prod you but I will be there right beside you as you face this unknown. We will face it together."

"I'm ready..." Rachael whispered.
