Mission:
Mission 15: Old Ghosts
Location: Various Locations - USS Roanoke
Timeline: 1800Hrs, December 7th, 2390
Lt Commander Tom 'Fives' Lasky was sitting at a table in the corner, by himself as he had four PADD's with him, a meal of irish stew and and a glass of ice cold cola.
He heard a female voice as he regarded Tressa who approached. "Tressa." he slowly smiled.
"Tom," she said smoothly. "Torilla told me you were here... how have you been?"
Fives indicated the chair across from him. "Have a seat... and I'll explain.." he tapped the PADD before him as a display of a Russian Blue cat appeared. "Tressa... meet Shadow.." he commented, a smile appearing on his face. "She's my new roommate, moved in this afternoon..." he sighed. "Second Wings birds brought with the some wildlife.... idiot techs didn't check them so their idiocy is our gain... I even got some pigeons out of the deal... I'm already planning on turning one of the rooms at my quarters into a birdcage."
"She's beautiful," the woman said as looked at the photo. She turned her gaze back to him. "I've missed you."
"Yes..." Fives regarded her. "You and I both knew that something was going to happen.... when Phoenix came over here, she requested that I go with her... " he paused. "Considering our argument... I didn't expect you to ever want to talk to me again..."
"My passion can get the better of me sometimes," she said softly. "Besides I've had much worse arguments than that," she added with a warm smile.
"I know... I wasn't expecting that argument to get so far out of hand." Fives commented with a smile. "so... what brings you to the ship of the damned." he inquired. "We have had something of a wildlife outbreak up in the Pod... we're finding all sorts of things.. like cats and birds... I got all the birds.."
"The Birdman of the Roanoke, never figured you for that," Tressa said with a laugh.
"Well it could always be worse..." he responded. "Wait until you meet Wolverine.." he explained. "Five Pigeons, a Robin and a Sparrowhawk." he explained. "I'm going to teach the Sparrowhawk how to help me... as a scout.."
"So this is more of a zoo than a ship?" she asked with a wink. "I'm the new counselor, taking a break from medicine. I've been told to expect business to be brisk."
"Oh you were misinformed, my dear." Fives gave her a look before he beckoned her over to him, as she sat down.. he slipped his arms around her and pulled her onto his lap. "Much better..." he commented and since he was sitting in the corner booth, the shadows helped mask who was here. "Business will be busy... you will be in high demand... and people are going to want you."
"I had no idea a counselor was so needed here," Tressa said breathily. She had not felt Five's arms around her in a while and they had lost none of their strength.
"Oh yes.." Fives responded as he smiled at her. "Same with good pilots... thats why I'm serving here these days..."
"Pilot and Birdman," she said with a teasing smile.
Fives chuckled softly as he gently held Tressa in his embrace. "Its better then some of the other nicknames I've had over the years..." he commented. "Hows Xavier and Kaylee doing these days?" he inquired before adding. "Do they like cats?... Commander Teval is looking after a pregnant Maine Coon house cat... with four kittens due in a week..." he smiled. "You could stick your name in for one or two..." he then smiled. "We've found quite the haul of tamable animals among the haul from Second Wings Birds.." he smiled.
"I have my hands full with the twins!" she answered, laughing. "I used to have them full with you, too."
Fives smiled. "Tressa, our relationship was never that badly damaged, I decided to leave off contacting you for awhile because I was busy and I wanted to give you time to cool off and sort things out."
"It would seem that this galaxy isn't so big after all," she said, looking into his eyes.
"Well... I did tell the maintenance techs that I would assist them with Second Wings Birds.... technically I don't have to but I do need to earn the respect of these guys... and I wasn't expecting you to be here... to be honest.," he explained as he picked up his bowl of stew before he started to demolish it. "The guys make the food from the kitchen."
"An actual kitchen?"
"Oh yes, we do have a real kitchen too... plus real booze and real food aboard." he commented. "here, you pay with Federation Credits or Latinum."
"Good to know, are there shops here as well?"
"No... just this bar." he commented. with a smile. "Its an intrestng place.. but here you pay for it... if you want the usual replicated food then there is a replimat, located on Deck eleven towards the interior of the ship."
"I'll have to bring the kids here for some real food," the counselor said, looking over the menu.
"Well my techs have a nightmare of work ahead of them and... I do need to plan several tactical scenarios.. considering that Phoenix is down due to recent events." he sighed. "So... what are your plans for later this evening?"
"We're still settling in, the kids meet their teaching group this afternoon. Sometimes there is a gathering for the parents as well," Tressa said.
He nodded as he finished his bowl of soup. "MMmm... the food here really is good though..."
Tressa slid back down next to him. "I'm glad you've kept busy, I haven't even looked at my schedule yet."
"I suspect that yours is going to be as full as mine... if not more so..." Fives commented. "With Phoenix relieved of duty because of the incident in the pod, I'm looking after the entire Wing." he sighed. "It's going to be a full-time job just to get these pilots into gear..."
"Sounds like you have a lot on your plate."
"Well... I'll manage... I always do..." he paused. "How are the kids doing, these days?, I'll bet they are happy to see Rachael again."
Tressa grinned. "Xav and Kaylee adore her, I thought it would be difficult for them to move away but they are very excited to be here. Go figure!"
"You guys wanna have dinner tomorrow, my place?." he inquired. "I'll introduce you guys to Shadow... see if the kids get along with her.."
"That would be lovely, they will love her, I'm sure," the counselor said brightly. "Can I bring anything?"
"You can bring whatever you like... I've been feeding her meat." he smiled at her. "Also... I've yet to name the Pigeons..." he added with a smile. "Do you want that privilege?"
"I'm sure the children would love to!"
"Alright... I'll hold off on naming the birds then. I'll leave that for you, Kaylee and Xavier..."
Tressa chuckled again as she stood up. "Nineteen hundred hours good for you?"
Fives nodded. "Yeah, that sounds good."
"Great," she said with a wink, "See you then!"
