2nd Lieutenant Berg Houges sat at the workstation with his feet up on the table. He was looking over a PADD at the professional sports news feed. Ensign Kam Raaboba entered the area and casually made his way to Berg.

"What are you up to?" Kam asked.

"Checking out the sports scores. Seeing which teams are winning." Berg replied.

"Professional sports. How plebeian." Kam responded.

"I'm checking the scores over because my family owns a few teams. Sports do have their uses. It keeps the low brow workers content." Berg stated.

"No, you wouldn't want them to do something like read or work longer hours." Kam sarcastically stated. "People just don't work as hard anymore."

"Are you off duty?" Berg asked.

"No, this is what I do all day. Waiting to make contact. Of course, given that the aliens will see our captain first I'll just be wasting our time. One look at her they'll wonder how we even built a star ship." Kam told Berg.

"Yeah, I saw her. Makes me lose faith in the Federation that a women like her ever made captain. She belongs on some forgotten colony with a habitat full of cats." Berg added.

"I didn't ever think I would see such a pathetic excuse for a joined Trill. I think they dropped her symbiotic on the floor and kicked it around a bit." Kam told Berg. "How is the leadership in Flight?" Kam asked.

"It's like some sort of third rate comedy." Berg replied. "Sullivan, or 'Phoenix'," Berg changed the pitch of his voice to mock the name "is a complete basket case. I think they found her in an asylum and pinned wings on her chest." Berg told Kam. "I'm going to have a chat with my father about having her removed from Star Fleet."

"I think I saw her at that little drink hole they have here. By the looks of her I don't think she has spent one moment on this rusted bucket sober." Kam speculated. "Who would replace her?"

"Our wing commander is a guy named 'Fives' Lasky. Another real loser. The guy is way too old for his rank. I think the guy is just cannon fodder that got lucky and survived." Berg told Kam.

"Maybe they call him 'Fives' because that's how many years of education the guy has." Kam added.

"I don't think you people should be talking about our leaders this way." Ryi interrupted from behind.

Both the men turned around and saw the Andorian.

"I'm sorry, I'm not a 'people'. I'm a real officer, not a glorified enlisted puke like you." Berg sniped at Ryi. "Why aren't you at the position of attention when addressing an officer?" Berg asked with his voice raised.

"I'm sorry, I didn't know you where officers." Ryi apologized meekly while standing up straight and stiff.

"You didn't know because you were out of line." Kam brow beat Ryi. "You need to know your place 'Puke' and trust me, it's not very high."

"Do you like being on flight status you little puke?" Berg asked Ryi. "Because you know I can get you pulled off flight status."

"How?" Ryi asked, a little concerned.

"First off, you'll address me as 'Sir'. Unlike you, I went to the Officers' Academy." Berg tongue lashed Ryi. "I have connections in Star Fleet. Trust me, you don't want to be on my bad side."

Ryi started pursed her lips.

"Why don't you make yourself useful?" Kam asked. "Go fetch us some coffee. And make it snappy."

Ryi went off, humiliated. Kam turned to Berg. "You have tonight's main event?" he asked Berg.

"Betazoid Dream Dust." Berg answered.

Kam raised his eyebrows. "You only get the best."

A smirk formed on Berg's face. "I need it to tolerate the buffoons that I have to answer to."
