Mission: Mission 13: The Space Between
Location: Various Locations - USS Shadow
Timeline: 1130Hrs - February 19th, 2390

"Oh yeah Master Chief, I think I can take ya on.." someone yelled as McKnight
turned to the offender. "Private Jenkins.... kindly get out of my dammed face."
the older man responded as he turned back to the holodeck control interface
as he ignored the second response. "Private... stop pestering me... or I am going
to inform the Major that I am unable to complete her request as assigned..."
he looked over his shoulder.

"Sure old man..."

"Old..." the Chief responded. "you think you can push me around because you
think me old.?" he rolled his eyes. "Get lost Private... now....right now."

"Whatever you say old man." replied a younger male voice.

McKnight raised an eyebrow, was it just him or did the kids these days have no
respect for anyone so he turned his attention to his work, with one hand he yanked off
the cover for the holodeck control system as he muttered something in a foreign
language. "Ez egy kibaszott vicc ugye?" which the translator turned into English which
when translated came out as. "This is a @#!*% joke right?"

"Hello, is there a problem with the holodeck?" Daisy asked.

He looked at the innards as he heard a female voice this time. "Story of my life...well
I got good news and bad news..." he commented. "Good news.. I can fix it, bad news.
its taking a while..."

Daisy started to loose her patience. "What else is new. We can't have a demolitions
course or rifle range. We have to use a holodeck for safety. Then the stupid technology
never works." Daisy growled. "I just want to hit something." she added.

"Well now... all your people are pushy today, Private Jenkins is just obnoxious and rude
and you want me to do the impossible with sleight of hand. Major.. I'm good but I need
time to fix this you know." he regarded her, she was not unattractive but they were both
on the clock.

"What about Jenkins?" she asked completely disregarding his other comments.

"Rude, insulting and generally disrespectful" McKnight commented evenly. "I honestly would
prefer to hit him with something large and heavy but... he's not my man to deal with." he
commented. "and why can't we have a range?" McKnight sighed angrily. "Don't tell me..
its over safety?"

"I don't know why, something about shooting weapons on a star base. I'm not good at
science." Daisy Answered as she walked away.

A few moments later Daisy returned pulling Jenkins by his collar. The private timidly went
with the cross officer. As they approached McKnight Daisy released Jenkins. She then
pointed at McKnight "Apologize" she ordered Jenkins.

"I'm...err sorry sir."

McKnight raised an eyebrow. "Do not ever call me sir Private.. Do you see Officers pips on
my collar?"

"Ummm No Master Chief."

"Very good son.... I accept your apology... this time...." he nodded to the Major as he found
he liked her directness but he also knew that a forced apology was worth nothing. "Private,
let me tell you this one time only... don't ever do to anyone else what you did to me...
otherwise you might end up eating a plasma round... you read me boy?" McKnight growled.

"Aye Master Chief, it won't happen again."

"I expect not." McKnight replied. "Thank you Major."

"Your welcome Chief." Daisy responded.

"If there is nothing further, I need to go back to work sir." McKnight responded. "I need to get
this holodeck working again."

"Yes, please continue." Daisy curtly responded. "Off with you." Daisy said as she gave the private a violent push.

The Private felt himself being pushed down the hallway, he did however manage to keep his balance as he fled
from the Majors wrath.

Orthos raised an eyebrow. "Major are you finished being a little...well big terror?" he inquired as he regarded her
"Seriously, leave the macho chest at the airlock where it belongs." he looked at her, clearly unimpressed and
unamused.

Daisy bristled. "Chief, with all due respect please mind matters in engineering and I'll mind matters in the marine
detachment." She stated. By the tone of her voice she was clearly annoyed.

McKnight found himself giving this Human/Klingon woman the once over, she looked about the age of his eldest
child, suddenly the memory of his dead wife came to mind, she had fallen while defending Deneva from the Borg,
while the planet was saved, he knew the losses had been high. "Indeed sir. Will that be all?" he inquired, clearly
getting aggravated.

"Yes, Chief." Daisy stated as she walked off.

McKnight raised an eyebrow, he had expected her to haul off and smack him or yell at him, instead he did neither.
Maybe there was something more then just the usual Marine bravado after all.
