Rachael Yamaguchi was sitting on a bench in the large playground as she was busy doing homework as she sighed. "Military History again. This stuff gets real old after awhile."
Sian Anderson smiled as she regarded her friend. "Rachael... let me see what you got for your two month class assignment.... "
Rachael handed the smaller girl her PADD without comment as she received Sian's PADD in silence. "You got the Seven years war... yours will be a joke.." the larger girl sighed.
Sian nodded her head, her ponytail moving with her head. "Yeah... you got the third world war... they seem to want you badly."
"Yeah... because it'll take me longer and I got lots to do elsewhere as well." as she noticed a lone girl who was taller and larger then most heading over towards her as she wondered who this was. She'd seen her around but she knew the other woman was new to the school, also she had seen others chasing her for attention the way people tended to do to Rachael herself and it was only when she got closer that she did indeed recognize Major Jill 'Phoenix' Sullivan's features in the woman before her. "Hey!" Rachael hopped off of the bench as she stood up.
"Hello," Aryssa spoke quietly as she cleared her throat. Not yet sixteen and taking remedial reading classes was not fun for her. She looked like a skateboarder in her baggy jeans and dark hoodie.
"Sian, where are you're manners girl?"
Aryssa was pretty much shy. She had major issues fitting in as it was. Since her reading classes were on middle school level, and the rest high school.
"Manners, who knew I had any...." Sian Anderson smiled as she introduced herself. "Welcome to our little corner of hell." she commented with a grin.
"Don't mind her Aryssa. You look like you have something on your mind.... whats up?" she inquired with a smile. "I ran into Lieutenant Dvald before I came into school today, she said you were looking for me..." she looked up at the larger woman. "We seem to have our fair share of admires.." she added.
Aryssa nodded to the latter comment, then asked, "My mom is making my sister spend her off-days with me an' Jill asked me if you might come with to watch a holomovie on Saturday."
Rachael nodded. "Sounds good. let me know where and when...." she responded with a cheerful smile. "Also... what movie.. isn't not going to be a romance flick right?"
"No," Aryssa confirmed. "It'll be at The Holoplex. Nineteen hundred hours. It's the second Dragon Rider movie."
"Alright." the smaller woman smiled. "Sounds great. I heard that movie was supposed to be rather good..." she paused. "My brother loves that stuff... my sister hates it and I'm in the middle."
Sian sighed. "Rachael. quit your complaining. I saw it already... its good and no... i will not spoil it for you." she smiled.
"Icebreath was always my favorite dragon in the series, because he was really the only one that did not seem hell-bent on killing the people of Falendor, an' also stood up to the Red Dragon of Krax five times." Aryssa became more animated as she began to discuss something she liked. "I really hope he chooses to let the Elyna ride him... And that's at least three more movies away sadly."
Aryssa frowned at that before she added, "I aint eat yet. You guys wanna bite?"
Sian answered instead. "No. Rachael hasn't eaten yet and I was about to try and get her to eat a decent meal... maybe you'd have better luck."
"My sister is something of a parkour master. She eats a lot after trainin' so I suppose I should too, since that is the PE course I've chosen," Aryssa shrugged. "I usually eat alone, but if you guys don' mind, I'll join ya."
Rachael nodded. "Sure... lets go eat..." as she rose to her feet, within moments the three of them made their way to the school cafeteria which Rachael had nicknamed "the messhall" well over a year ago but the name had stuck.
"Hey baby." some nameless guy greeted Rachael as they passed.
Sian raised an eyebrow. "I'm just as good looking and I get a quarter of the attention."
"My sister enrolled me into the Junior Flight Cadet Corps. Your mom gonna do the same?" Aryssa asked out of curiosity. It was a big buzz in the massive school population and Aryssa had already noticed the class roster was filling up on the sign-up display LCARS screens across the campus part of the station.
Rachael nodded. "My mom is presently off the station at the moment, chances of me getting in because of that are slim at best." she sighed. "I've always wanted to fly... I guess it'll have to be as a shuttle pilot... which is just so boringly dull..."
Sian smiled. "Medical for me.... I wanna be fully licensed to cut you open and play with your insides."
"That's just creepy." Rachael responded.
"I'm pretty sure Jill bein' the CAG, would let you in no matter how many slots fill up before your mom gets back," Aryssa shrugged aside. "I been lookin' at the course book and it'll cover the various careers of Starfighter Command. Everythin' from fighter pilot, to plane engineer, to famous dogfight strategies, and flight deck operations."
"Maybe.... but I don't want to be treated any differently because of who my mom is.." she smiled at the other woman. "Nice... I've yet to grab a copy but I' not sure of who to see or where they are." she paused as she sighed. "first things first... lets go eat before all the time for lunch is gone..."
"Ya need to talk to Jill then," Aryssa added as she followed Rachael. "On your own. Without your mom talking for ya then, if ya want it that badly. An' anyway. It's just a sign-up list ta see who's interested."
Rachael nodded. "Sounds good... getting to her might be an issue though." she paused. "I'll figure something out." she commented as the three of them walked into the messhall and Rachael crashed into a much larger guy who wasn't looking where he was going and he knocked her clean off her feet.
Sian glared at the massive guy. "What the fuck, dude!?"
"Yeah.. watch where you're going little one..." the behemoth responded.
Rachael slowly shook herself off as she climbed back to her feet. "Cute move buddy..."
"Yeah. Now outa my way.."
Rachael stepped to one side as she clearly didn't look like she wanted to fight as the large lard ass laughed at them as he plodded onwards before Rachael smiled, before tripping him up, he went down with a woof.
"I'd a kicked 'em in the balls," Aryssa shrugged. "Good job, nonetheless."
Rachael smiled as she watched the massive being pick himself up. "Watch it girly or I'll-"
"Move it along Blob-man" came another voice as Dean Saunders came around the corner. "or I'll break every bone in your body.... though that might be hard with all that padding you got..."
The fat kid turned and departed as quickly as he could as Saunders sighed. "Sorry ladies." and with that he walked past Rachael and her two companions. "Well. shows over and... I'm hungry." Rachael commented. "how people survive high school is beyond me."
"Holosuites for me," Aryssa answered quickly as she picked up a food tray. "But I'm a junior taking middle school reading classes. So I'm probably not the best example there."
Rachael raised an eyebrow. "Reading classes?" she inquired as the three of them got in the lineup for their food, a short time later they all had full trays and then were looking for a place to sit.
"I don' read good," Aryssa admitted with much difficulty.
"No worries... anyone gives you a hard time... just smack them which is what they deserve." Rachael commented. "Besides... you'll fit in here... along with these other miscreants."
Sian chuckled softly as she began eating her food. "You might have a few guys wanting you by the end of the week... Rachael here ended up with a good catch."
Rachael sighed. "Sian... seriously... must you?"
"Yes.. I must."
"I dunno if I have time to date, with my class load, and then the cadet corps," Aryssa explained.
Rachael smiled. "I don't think the guys want to date you, more they would just want your body." she commented evenly. "hell I've had a few guys want me.... I've had to tell a few boys 'sorry, not intrested.'
"Jill an' Mom both told me if I screwed up with school, I'd need to find somewhere else to stay. So boys are off-limits until I appease them," Aryssa spoke rather irritatedly about the subject.
Rachael nodded. "Makes sense... one thing at a time.." Rachael for her part was around 5'4 in height which made her tall for her age but she'd only just started filling out, which caused her to attract attention in ways she didn't want. "My mom said something similar to me... " she smiled
Sian sighed. "Mom and Dad were both blatant on that subject... no issues or else."
"So you always beat the asses up an' not get in trouble for it?" Aryssa laughed lightly.
"Oh god no." Rachael commented. "I have to be rather careful with using my abilities... I can reach out and drop a table on someone from across the room, the second funny stuff starts happening, everyone looks at me... regardless of where I am at the time.... unless I'm off base of course...." she sighed. "I have to be careful at all times.. this includes people I interact with... one of them could pick a fight with me for any reason... and even if I win. I'd still lose.."
