Fallout

Posted on Sun Mar 15th, 2020 @ 8:52am by Major Ellen "Viking" Mitchel & Vice Admiral Valerie Dessaix & Colonel Jack "Dirty Jack" Hassel

Mission: Mission 98: Building Our New Home
Location: Star Base 47, Second Officer's Office
Timeline: 0800Hrs - April 25th, 2393

Mitchel stood before the desk of Dessaix. Flanking Dessaix was Hassel.

"I wish the circumstances of this meeting were more pleasant Commander Mitchel." Dessaix told her. "Before you speak up it is your right to know what you are being accused of and what corrective actions Captain Hassel and I will be enacting. If you would like to defend your actions I will give you that opportunity at the end of this hearing."

Dessiax then picked up a PADD. "Your here because of what happened in the mess hall. You deliberately attacked Lieutenant Blackmoor with a knife. There were several witnesses including Captain Hassel and myself. So as to the charges of assault let me explain what has happened. Lieutenant Blackmoor does not wish to press charges. I found this unusual so I personally went to talk to him about this. In his word...", Dessaix picked up the PADD and read it verbatim, "'A chick couldn't possibly assault a guy. No way.' where his exact words." Dessaix let out a soft sigh and shook her head. "Given that Blackmoor's words that night were somewhat provocative and that he refuses to follow any actions against you there will be no assault charges."

"You dodged a bullet." Hassel told her. "You would have gone to a prison colony before getting kicked out of Star Fleet."

"Indeed, Captain." Dessaix agreed. "That would have truly been a career end. That said, we simply cannot have officers going around slashing each other with knives. Especially in front of junior officers and the enlisted. You will be formally charged with 'Behavior Unbecoming of an Officer'. What that means is for one year you will be barred from earning any promotions or awards. Do you understand the charge against you?"

Viking nodded. "I do. yes." she answered in a flat tone of voice. She was only sorry that she didn't outright kill him, he richly deserved it.

"Very well, do you have anything to say in your defense before we officially write up charges and submit them to the JAG office?" Dessaix asked.

Viking considered what she wished to say, mostly that she thought Sluggo needed therapy and also needed to learn how to deal with others. "No sir," she answered. "I have nothing to say at this time." this whole affair was a waste of time and she wanted it over as soon as possible.

"Very well," Valerie replied. "This recommendation will be passed up to the JAG corp. You should get a response in thirty days. Do you have any questions?"

"No," Viking answered, in the same tone she had in this entire meeting. "I have nothing to say about Sluggo, other than the fact that he will not learn from this experience," she added, in the only departure from her desire to get this over with as soon as humanly possible.

"Yes, Lieutenant Blackmoor's behavior left a lot to be desired. Leave the corrective behavior to leadership. There will be discussions about that point." Valerie gave Jack a very stern look before returning her attention to Viking. "You look like you may have a promising career. Please don't throw it away over something stupid."

Viking nodded her head. "Yessir," she answered, she did not attempt to defend herself or her actions, there was simply no need to do so at this point. "Will I be grounded?"

"No, you will be expected to perform all duties as usual," Valerie told her.

"Yeah, especially as you put another squadron leader in the hospital. You're going to pick up his slack until he returns to duty." Jack informed Viking.

Viking regarded Jack, a rather evil glare in her eyes. "I see." she paused. "Someone, please sort out his attitude, the next person will not be so forgiving," she responded. "Considering in his words 'a chick cannot assault a guy. No way.' Unquote." Viking explained as she quickly considered how she was going to approach this problem before a rather evil smile appeared on Viking's face.

Jack had a concerned look on his face. "So we just told you that your career is going to be in limbo for a year and that your work load is doubled for the foreseeable future and your smiling? And not smiling in a good way."

Viking regarded him, her evil grin did not fade. "Yep. Because I can do his job better then he can." she answered in the same tone that she had used across this entire meeting. "However. Leadership failed here."

"Maybe you can but that is not the purpose of this meeting," Valerie told Ellen. "Now, do you have anything to add before I dismiss you?"

"No. Admiral. I have nothing to add." Viking answered, she opened her mouth to say something but she decided not to. There was no need to further dig a hole for herself. She hated Sluggo and she was going to make it clear to his people why this was the case.

"If you have any more questions or concerns please contact Captain Hassel. As of now your dismissed Commander."
