Meeting the Venator

Mission: Mission 4: Flashover
Location: Various Locations - Starbase 400
Timeline: 1200Hrs - August 18th, 2388

Lt Commander Torilla Yamaguchi thought her day was proceeding as normal, she had been on duty in Operations as she was handling the normal day to day mundane work that often popped up in Ops when the Admiral asked her to step into his office and then he had turned her entire world upside down, by giving her command of one of the base Starships and now she wanted to go and visit her newest baby.

Now she understood why her husband got misty-eyed and sentimental over his first command, the USS Courageous and why he loved serving on her so much. It was a special bond, all its own.

She tapped the Turbolift controls and a moment later the door slid open with a soft hissing sound, she entered as she said. "USS Venator, airlock."

The door slid closed and the lift sped off to its destination, unthinking and unfeeling in its orders as it carried her to the destination requested.

A few minutes later she arrived at airlock seven where the USS Venator was presently docked to the Starbase, she looked asleep as Torilla smiled. 'Soon, my dear... you'll awaken and I'll see to it you honor your legacy and your name..' she thought to herself as the guard at the airlock turned his attention to her. "Good Afternoon Commander... can I assist you?"

"Lt Commander Torilla Yamaguchi, I'd like to go aboard... The Admiral wants me to assume command." and with that, she handed him the PADD confirming what she had told him, he accepted it gently as he looked the information over. "Of course sir.. but you'll need to deal with the security computer."

She nodded as he handed her the PADD back, she then pressed her hand against the computer terminal. "Commander Torilla Yamaguchi. Chief Strategic Operations Officer."

"Identity confirmed." the computer intoned.

Yamaguchi nodded and with that, she went aboard, she went to a turbolift and said: "Main Bridge" and this lift took a moment before the lift sped off to its destination.

The doors opened and she found herself on the main bridge of the USS Venator, the bridge design was well spaced and open, much like the design of the Sovereign except smaller, she had never liked the original design of the Prometheus as it had no provisions for an Exec as well as a half dozen other posts she wanted to be filled and she was thankful someone had thought ahead and put in a different bridge module as she realized she was looking at something from the Luna class.

She turned her attention to the ships Master Systems Display at the back of the bridge, the first thing she noticed entire sections were closed down for upgrades, at least half the entire ship was inaccessible due to the upgrades.

The turbolift doors opened and two officers spilled out, one was a human male and wore the rank of Lieutenant, one grade less then her and the other was an Andorian Zhen, not a Shen as they had differences between the two genders, plus Torilla could sense and feel the difference in the aura are the two genders usually emitted. "I'm sorry we're late sir... but we weren't told you were coming." the human was out of breathing.

Yamaguchi smiled, she thought the human male was cute but a little young for her, she was married but she could still look and admire. "Its fine Lieutenant, I wanted a moment with my new baby anyway... What can I do for you?" she inquired

"Its what we can do for you, sir... I understand you're the new Commanding Officer for the Venator?". He asked, still somewhat breathless as the Andorian Zhen smiled at her. "We've been handling her improvements and upgrades, I'm Lieutenant Sasha Zh'Theentanis. You may call me Tanis if you so desire." the Zhen explained the naming conventions which for Andorian's were unusual.

Yamaguchi nodded as the human-introduced himself as Lieutenant Walker Emick, eldest child of the more famous Admiral Walter Emick. "Very well Lieutenant, I hereby assume command of this ship, please note the date and time in the ship's log."

"Yessir," he responded with a smile. "Alright.." Yamaguchi continued.
"Lieutenant Emick, I'm going to have you serve as my Exec until the Admiral decides otherwise."

"Of course sir." the man responded with a cheerful smile

"Alright... so... Update me on recent events please... how are the crew doing?" she inquired. "are they in good spirits?" she added

The two officers shared a look this was not a question they had expected and it showed. "The crew is busy and a few of them are tired but they are determined."

"Ahh... they are being pushed..." Yamaguchi commented softly. "Determination
is good but by itself its not good enough, I'm going to take a wander around, select sections of the ship at random and chat with the crew. Don't let them know I'm around... I want to see the natives in their natural habitat so to speak." she explained evenly.

Emick nodded. "It'll be done, sir. Do you wish to have a senior staff briefing at some point?"

"No... no need to distract people from their work," she responded. "Computer, This is Lt Commander Torilla Yamaguchi, I hereby assume command of USS Venator, as of Stardate 65629.66... Authorization Yamaguchi Six Five Beta Delta."

"USS Venator is now under the command of Lt Commander Torilla Yamaguchi."

Yamaguchi turned to Emick. "I relieve you sir!" she almost grinned at him as she said her statement

"I stand relieved." Emick gave the proper response.

"Alright. I'm going to wander the ship and you two head back to whatever it was you were doing... and don't let them know anything has changed... I'll let them know myself."

"Yessir." and with that Torilla went into the turbolift. "Sickbay," she said evenly and the lift sped away.
