Tip of the Spear

Posted on Sun Feb 23rd, 2020 @ 7:46pm by Captain T'Nae "Wolfheart" Duval & Company Sergeant Major Jeffery "The Mountain" Duval

Mission: Mission 3: Quantum of Solace
Location: Various Locations - USS Shield of Vega
Timeline: 0900Hrs - July 18th, 2388

Master Sergeant Jeffery Duval smiled as he regarded his wife who
was taking some of her exceedingly high leave time she had saved
to travel with him to his next posting. His two duffels were packed
by the door and he was wearing off duty clothing because he wanted
to share time with his wife, time he did not often get these days.

Commander T'Nae was rather unusual for a Vulcan and any who dealt
with her could quickly see and understand why she enjoyed emotions
rather than repress them as most Vulcans did, she had found a measure
of balance that worked for her in her own life and everything she
did.

Duvall looked to the sleeping form on his wife as she slept in the
bed, a gentle smile on her lips as she slept, seemingly unaware of
her surroundings but she had a much better sense of hearing than
he did and it often took very little to wake her.

Their three children were half Vulcan and half-human, they were raised
with the best aspects of both as Duvall smiled as he thought of them,
T'Lee and T'Kera who were 22 years old, they were also twins so telling
them apart was next to impossible, then there was Suvak was 20 years
old, all three were at the academy.

Duvall growled as he heard the alarm go off as the com system came alive.
"General Quarters, General Quarters. All hands man your Battlestations,
all hands man your battle stations."

T'Nae's eyes shot open as she shot out of the bed where she had been
sleeping before as she reached over and snagged a fistful of her uniform
where she had placed their earlier as she began dressing quickly as she
moved over to the replicator as she ordered a coffee and a Boston creme
doughnut, once she pulled on her uniform tunic which did more to reveal
her lovely curves then if she wore nothing but her skin.

She turned her considerable attention as she lifted the hot coffee which
was steaming as she drained the large container of coffee in one hefty
swig.

"Isn't that supposed to be hot?"

"Indeed... it's scalding... I find it invigorating." T'Nae responded with
a smile which Duvall found thrilling as well as disturbing as he tugged on his boots, he had slipped on his jacket as he shook his head. "You
are insane, wife of mine." he regarded the Vulcan woman with a smile.

"Would you have me any other way?" she inquired evenly before eating half
the doughnut in one bite.

"Nope... lets go.." and with that, he dashed out the door, following his
wife's lovely form as they joined the fifteen or so other personel in
the hallway.

They entered the turbolift as he by good or bad fortune was the first to
get off two decks up, one deck six, most of which was Marine County and as
he came around the corner, the Colonel was standing there with a stop-clock
in his hand, the sort one saw several hundred years earlier. "Master Seargent.
You're getting faster... either you were awake or you were... busy." was the
words the Bolian female settled on.

"I was awake... Couldn't sleep." he responded honestly.

The Bolian smiled. "I don't blame you... we're going to miss you, Jeff."

Several hours later after the USS Dawn Under Heaven had arrived at Starbase
400 to deliver supplies as well as some ordinance, also to rotate some of
their crew for shore leave and routine transfers. Captain Daniel McKnight
smiled as he looked at the Master Seargent as he walked towards the airlock
as he snapped to attention, his shoulder bag was in one hand, his pack on
his back.

"Stand easy Jeff. I wanted to come say goodbye..." as the two men
shook hands as Duvall sighed. "You'll miss my rousing speeches.."

"And how you used to kick everyone's asses at poker... maybe now I'll win
a few hands."

Duvall shook his head. "Nope... my wife can read you too easily..." he sighed
"I'm going to miss not having T'Nae around."

"I can tell... But she will be alright... and so will you...."

"Yeah.." Duvall sighed. "Aww well..."

The two men shook hands and then they saluted as Jeff picked up his bag and
off he went through the airlock as he looked down at the female security
guard whom he guessed to be half his age and she looked up at him with a
grace that bespoke martial arts experience. "Master Seargent, Jeffery Duvall,
request permission to come aboard?" he inquired.

She smiled. "Of course Master Seargent, we've been expecting you," she spoke
as she blinked her dark eyes up at him. "The Quartermaster has your billet assigned and this is an overview of the base," she explained as she handed
him a PADD with infomation all about Starbase 400. "Welcome aboard Seargent."

"Thank you Ensign" and with that, he walked off, bag in hand and pack on his
back as he went to check-in and then go report in, let his new boss know he
was alive and well.
