Mission: Mission 108: Grains of Sand
Location: Various Locations - USS Infinity
Timeline: 1100Hrs - October 21st, 2393

Commander Tressa Brislan regarded the two children before her. Kaylee and Xavier were heading on towards eighteen now and Xavier was more massive then Tressa herself was, he was bigger she was as he regarded the woman he called mom. "You okay mom?" he asked in a gentle tone of voice. To Tressa's eyes, he looked more and more like her brother with each passing day. Sean and Tressa were very close and his death had left a void in her life, this void was made worse with the passing of both of her parents which left Tressa as the last Brislan.

"Yeah, I'm okay," Tressa answered as she gently placed a hand over her belly which was still flat but she knew it would not be for long, she had stuck in for reassignment as she wished for more stability to raise her children, both born and unborn. Her request had been granted as she was informed that Chief of Clinic was available on the USS Valhalla, along with the promotion to Captain. Tressa had accepted instantly as she knew she would need the extra space, protection and time to carry the twins to term and then give birth to them. She had never expected that she would ever end up with children of her own but she was not overly concerned about the details either as she smiled.

"You're doing it again mom," Xavier commented. He was the brash one as Tressa regarded him with her eyes. "What if I am... I miss him, you know." as she shifted her attention to Kaylee who hefted the pack she had been carrying onto her back, then she reached down and picked up her second bag. "I think we're ready now mom," she commented with a gentle smile on her lips.

"Alright," Brislan answered as she turned back to the Operations Officer. He had been waiting for the older woman before him. Brislan smiled as she handed the PADD in her hands over to the Operations officer who would be taking her quarters over from her. "We tried our best to clean up in here but maybe w3e missed something.?" she commented.

"I wouldn't worry about it ma'am." the officer answered diplomatically. "My guys will appreciate your efforts on our behalf," he added with a nod. "Do you need a moment?"

"No," Brislan answered with a gentle smile on her lips. "We're ready to go," she added as she turned to the two teenagers. "Come on kids, its time," Brislan commented with a gentle smile. She turned and departed her home of almost twenty-one months as she went around the corner and moved down the hallway towards the turbolift, the twins followed in silence.

The three of them entered the turbolift. "Transporter room four," Brislan commented, it was the only transporter room operational at this moment in time, as all of the others were down for repairs and upgrades. "So, has anyone had a chance to read up on the Valhalla?" Brislan asked of the twins, as a measure of passing the time.

Xavier shook his head in silence as Kaylee nodded her head. "I did, she's supposed to be huge," she commented with a smile. "She's bigger than some of the smaller and older Starbase designs but she's still only one percent the size of an Ournal II class starbase." the teenager commented with a nod of her head.

"So, Xavier... What about you?" Brislan regarded the large teenager before her.

"Well. I was going to get around to it... but-" he then sighed softly. "Time got away from me." he regarded the woman he had come to call his mother.

"I am sure," Brislan answered with a smile, suddenly the doors opened, which effectively halted the conversation. Brislan emerged from the turbolift with the twins behind her as the moved down the hall and into the transporter room. "Three to beam to the Starbase please Maggie."

"Yes sir." the young woman answered, as Brislan stepped onto the transporter pad with the twins behind her, the door opened and in came the small framed Vulcan woman who was also the ships Captain. "Tressa. I'm glad Lieutenant Furlong contacted me about your impending departure," she commented, explaining her presence in the transporter room at this moment in time.

"I didn't wish to disturb you, sir," Brislan answered it sounded lame, even in her ears.

"That's understandable," T'Shaaamet answered with a nod of her head. "I was not busy and you never really did fit in....did you?"

"No." Brislan didn't bother to deny the fact at hand either. "I came to prefer ground-based or Starbase assignments. Maybe someday, that'll change but I doubt it." the small human admitted.

"That's perfectly reasonable, still, you were an excellent counselor Tressa, know that you'll be missed all the same... You might have felt that you did not fit in with our little group but you were one of us... and you'll carry that legacy wherever you go." the small Vulcan raised her hand as she offered Brislan the Vulcan salute, she saw no need to drag this out any longer then she needed to. "Peace and long life Commander."

Brislan raised her hand in the same salute. "Live long and proper Commodore. Permission to disembark?"

"Permission granted," T'Shaamet answered as she moved over to the transporter station. The Ensign moved aside as T'Shaamet checked the system quickly.

Brislan regarded the other woman. "Energize." T'Shaamet tapped the display, performing that request in silence as Brislan and her children were beamed to the station before she nodded to the Ensign, then she turned and departed the transporter room, still in silence.
