Stardust - Part Two

Mission: Mission 98: Building Our New Home
Location: Various Locations - Starbase Vanguard
Timeline: 1700Hrs - September 10th, 2393

Captain Rachael Yamaguchi sighed softly as she felt the hot water rush across her body as she ran both her hands through her thick mane of black hair, as she felt the water wash away her day's issues along with the sludge, grime, and sweat that usually accumulated on her body. Yamaguchi was like all of her children, many of her grandchildren and most of her great-grandchildren in that she always took a shower when finishing a long day. Yamaguchi knew how the new systems worked as she always found this to be one of the highlights of her afternoon and evening.

Yamaguchi gently turned off the water while she ran her hands over her skin, removing some of the excess water that had clung to her frame, a moment later she stepped out of the shower, grasping a towel from the nearby rack, she slipped it over her shoulders before moving into the master bedroom, where she began to dry herself off.

Rachael slipped on her clothing, she knew that Olmos would soon be visiting, as the two women had a matter to resolve between them, moments later Yamaguchi was fully clothed as she moved from the bedroom over to the desk she maintained in the den, behind the main living area. She slid her lithe form into the chair. "Computer, pull up all information on the protocol of the Betazed houses and the children of the same, specifically, the head or the heir to the house."

"Working." the computer responded in a flat tone of voice.

"Display on the monitor," Yamaguchi answered evenly. She settled in to read the information at hand as she waited for her guest to come and visit her. Suddenly there was a door beep and Yamaguchi rose to her feet to answer the door. She tapped the door release and there before she stood Lil'yanna Olmos. "Come in," she commented before turning away to permit her old friend access to her home, she didn't miss the small child in her arms. "I was doing some reading and I think I have figured out where the issue is..." Yamaguchi commented. "Between you and Jake regarding Bethany here..."

"You did?" Olmos perked up instantly, she was half expecting another argument and she had been unsure if she should have brought Bethany with her. Bethany regarded the woman before her as Olmos regarded Yamaguchi. "Do you want to hold her?"

Yamaguchi smiled, the biggest place in life where she had succeeded was with her children as she gently accepted the infant into her arms. "Hello sweetie," she commented to the small child who regarded her in silence.

Rachael gently moved the child in her arms so she was more comfortable before she turned her attention back to Olmos. "I also had time to read up on the matter today and I also decided to dig into the matter that caused all this drama in the first place," she explained. "Was Nalla wrong in saying what she said to Jake?." Yamaguchi paused a moment. "No." she added a moment later. "He was in no shape to do anything with Nalla, for any reason on any level whatsoever," she explained. "Jake had been almost completely mind-fried by Nalla..."

"It wasn't her fault..." Olmos protested quietly. "There were others involved."

"I know that Lil'yanna." Yamaguchi answered quietly. "It was an Orion woman touching Nalla which triggered the event in question. I also talked to Paul Emerson on the event in question... According to him, she has an all Vulcan crew because of who she is... How she's even in Starfleet at this point. I do not know... But I know a lot of people were angered greatly with the second pineapple event on Starbase Twelve. My daughter's husband almost left her over the event in question... They were trying for another child and she was impregnated by someone else... Franklin was very seriously angered with the event." she paused. "Then there was Talon... Had Bolian's had the ability to impregnate humans, she would have come out that event with someone's child... Four Bolian men had her, she was walking funny for weeks... Then there was Jake... and his paring with Nalla... His mind almost got turned into hamburger meat." she explained. "He went from cool, calm and collected to mister special needs in one go." she sighed. "Then there was Elizabeth and her husband, its also how Rachael, my granddaughter met her husband and how her twins came along... In addition to almost six hundred unwanted relationships, several hundred surprise pregnancies, some kept them and others did not... some people chased new relationships while several hundred others were destroyed, crippled or severely damaged... Needless to say, all of this was because of Nalla's abilities, or rather the lack of ability to control them." Yamaguchi commented. "Needless to say, it was a massive public relations disaster," she explained. "How Nalla was not nailed to the wall with that one, I will honestly never know..."

"Well I can't say much about the event in question, I was also affected, as was the Tranquility..." Olmos answered. "I did assist with the cleanup, however," she added a moment later.

"Yes. I read many of the reports submitted." Yamaguchi commented. "Including a lot of Jake's medical files, many of those were sealed... But I do have the ability to unseal many things..." as she turned her attention back to the infant in her arms. "Now we need to sort out how we're going to handle you, little one... Named for my mother." Yamaguchi paused. "I have no idea how she will take all of this when I tell her."

"How is your mother doing?"

"She is presently living on Vega Nine... She is doing as well as someone normally can at her age... She had spent many years coming to terms with the passing of her daughter... and nearly losing her eldest granddaughter." Yamaguchi explained. "I've spoken to her a few times, having me back in her life was a major surprise... the shock of it nearly killed her so they replaced her heart with a biosynthetic implant."

Olmos paused. "I'm sorry, I didn't know."

"My mother is a tough old boot." Yamaguchi gently shifted the child over to her other hip, Bethany for her part seemed quite content to simply be held by this strange woman.

"You never really talked much of your mother..." Olmos answered as she gently accepted the child back from Yamaguchi, Bethany seemed to be wanting to fall asleep. "I have two empty rooms, pick one," she added. "I decided to make some accommodations for her, just in case."

"You leave nothing to chance... You've not changed..."

"Nope..." she paused. "Though I sometimes wonder if I missed too much..." Yamaguchi added with a soft sigh.
