Woerner regarded Ral as he departed in silence, she turned her attention back to Duval while she proceeded to sit back down in the chair she had been sitting in originally. "What can I do for you, Admiral?" the small-framed Frenchwoman inquired of the larger female before her.
"Once Starfleet hears about what happened, they will want to take the Daedalus apart to find out what happened between you and the Borg, I suspect that I won't be able to let you leave the dock for any reason and this will probably be for the next few months. I apologize Captain." Duval sounded truly regretful. "I know you'd rather be out there rather than stuck here, considering Daedalus is your newest child and she does need some tender loving care."
"Its fine sir. My Engineers can use the time to work out her issues, kinks and the bugs... Which we still have yet to do." Woerner commented evenly.
"Knowing Captain Fordring, as I do. I suspect that even now, he is wanting to assist your engineers with his own." Duval commented with a smile. "One idea was to reassign you and your entire crew to another ship while I keep yours but Starfleet will want to interview all the members of your crew to find out what happened and how things went down."
"There is still a lot of bad feelings about the Borg and how things went down with them." Woerner agreed with a gentle nod of her head, her blonde tresses moving as she did so.
"Indeed Captain, so I'll leave you and your crew aboard the Daedalus and as such. it'll be easier for Starfleet to deal with this mess with you all in one space, think of it as a soft vacation but I'd prefer to keep you all close... I expect Starfleet to collectively shit themselves when my report makes it to the senior admiralty, which it should be doing any time now."
Woerner paused, she had expected that Starfleet already knew and was sending a response team to Vanguard to come and deal with this mess already but she didn't know the details behind it.
Duval regarded the younger woman. "I'll send you a new Chief of the Boat when someone becomes available, but I'm going to let you handle the matter of your new Exc by yourself, feel free to select whomsoever can assist you with your command then let me know what you need when you are finished with the matter at hand before you. Questions?" the older female inquired.
"Any ideas on how long my ship will be stuck here?"
"I assume three months but that could be longer... I don't know Captain." Duval sighed. "Even I can't overrule this one."
Woerner nodded. "Its fine, Admiral." she slowly smiled.
Duval regarded the younger woman before her, she knew that what she was about to say could be considered in a variety of ways. "I shouldn't have to mention this but I want to make sure it said." Duval paused a moment. "Do cooperate with the Engineers and other personnel that Starfleet will be sending, I have a feeling that someone will scream blue bloody murder regarding your actions with the Borg," Duval answered. "I expect to get a fair amount of flak myself."
"May I ask why Admiral, you did nothing wrong and these Borg came from an alternate reality. They are not the Borg from our universe." Woerner answered.
"We still do not know of the fate of the Borg in this reality, Starfleet is looking into sending a ship to investigate the matter at hand," Duval explained. "I have no idea who will get that assignment however, you might but I doubt it." Duval paused. "Look on the bright side, you've managed to remind Starfleet in rather dramatic terms to not forget about the Borg and I doubt they will, anytime soon... You should be commended but I suspect Starfleet will disagree." Duval paused. "What about your ship and your crew, any concerns to report?" Duval inquired a moment later.
"That's understandable, the Federation has always had long issues with the collective," Woerner commented. "Other then our battle damage and the losses to my crew, the ship, and my crew performed well." Woerner smiled. "They performed magnificently and I am proud to serve as their Captain," she explained with a gentle grin on her lips.
"Well, it seems that they really impressed you," Duval answered with a nod. "So for now, you'll be stuck, tied up to a drydock frame for the next while because of the Borg but I'm sure it won't be a major issue. I will ask Admiral MacDougan to not split up your people among other postings."
"Thank you, Admiral, I really appreciate that," Woerner answered.
Duval nodded her head. "Alright, well I'd best get started on lighting fires and pissing people off. You'd best go and see to your crew."
Woerner rose to her feet before she took her leave when Duval permitted her to do so. Duval sighed as she tapped the display before her. "Let's get started," she said to herself.
