Mission 121: The Mobius Loop
Location: Various Locations - Starbase Six-Eighteen
Timeline: 0940Hrs - February 4th, 2394
Lieutenant Rachael Yamaguchi smiled as she regarded her daughter who was now older than she was. "Because I told you... Didn't I?" she then slowly set down her donut on the plate before her.
Saki nodded her head. "Indeed, you did." she grinned at the other woman before her. "I'm thirty-one years old." The small-framed woman sipped her drink. "I'm from the year twenty-four thirteen," she explained with a shrug of her shoulders. "I'm Chief of Operations on the USS Waterloo." her smile widened as she knew her mother would know the name.
Rachael smiled. "It's good to hear that the old girl is still around in your time."
Saki paused as she gently shook her head. "No," she answered softly. "The Waterloo was an Archon-class starship," she explained. "Starfleet decommissioned the old girl about fifteen years ago." she then chuckled in amusement. "I shouldn't tell you too much about you, or what happened to the Waterloo. But I know better than to cite chapter and verse, " Saki paused. "Nobody should know too much about their own destiny," she added. "But. All of that said, I will tell you this. If you had actually resolved things with Mister Harrison, then you and the man I call Dad would not remain together. You told me that too." Saki explained. "So I'm just going to say this instead. Leave Mister Harrison in your past, Mom." Saki added. "Let him go. I know Dad and you have an arrangement where either of you is free to seek the attention of others but... Between you and me, he doesn't like it. He prefers to remain faithful to you."
Rachael's thought process was shattered by this revelation. She lifted her donut to her lips before she demolished it in a few bites, while she took a moment to process what she had just been told, by a woman who claimed to be her daughter no less. Rachael raised an eyebrow. "Why do you say this to me?"
Saki looked unsure of what she wanted to say. Rachael noticed. "Go on, say it." she encouraged the other woman before her.
"I..." Saki paused a moment. "Okay, I'll tell you." she paused a second time. "Because you once told me when I was a little girl that the man I call dad and you didn't remain together because you became pregnant with Paul Harrison's second child. But it was a false pregnancy." she paused a moment. "But by the time that came out, it was already too late... Dad left you. He decided he would take the kids and go out into the field on a Valhalla class starship. He was part of the Enif mission which... If I got the dates right, is still about eight months away." she explained herself.
Rachael paused, all of this was a major revelation for her, But then she recalled what she had once been told about moments of transition leading to moments of revelation. "Okay, Saki. Let me see if I got all of this right." she paused. "While here on Starbase Six Eighteen. I'm supposed to end up in bed with Paul Harrison and become pregnant with his baby, except it won't actually be a real pregnancy. Ennis will take it poorly and leave, taking all of you guys in the process?." Rachael inquired, she sounded like she didn't believe it.
"Yes," Saki answered bluntly. "I might have just erased myself from history by telling you all of this. But if I can save my family from the catastrophe to come. It will have been worth it to me... and to you." she regarded the woman who was her mother.
"Why Saki?" Rachael whispered. "Why take the chance and remove yourself from history?" she all but demanded of the woman before her.
"Because I still exist, as her." Saki's answer was as simple as it was telling. "She needs you, a lot more than she's letting on." the older woman sat back in her chair. "Saki is a good kid, Mom. But she needs guidance. The guidance that only you can give her... So, With all of that said... You still have a chance, Mom." Saki paused. "To prevent this disaster from destroying our family," she commented. "Take heed of what I've said, Mom," Saki added.
Rachael gently touched the other woman on her shoulder. "I will. Thank you, Saki. If we do not meet again... Then know that you have indeed saved our family." she commented. She then rose to her feet. "I need to head back to the Grey Wolf. My business here is concluded," she commented.
Saki rose to her feet as well. The two women then shared a hug. "Take care of your children Mom. They all need you... But watch over Dad when you next see him. Take him to bed and fuck him senseless."
"Saki. Consider it arranged." With that, the two women parted company. One went one way and the other went the opposite way. Neither looked back at the other either. While their minds touched one last time.
