Location: Various Locations - Starbase Vanguard
Timeline: 1630Hrs - December 24th, 2393

Fleet Admiral Heather Duval slowly smiled as she gave herself the once over in the mirror. She was wearing a dress of all things which was a small detail that she found utterly amazing, she never wore dresses for anything whatsoever. "Enrique. I hope this is worth it." her eyes sought out those of her husband who was standing behind her while she addressed her husband.

Enrique Duval grinned as he regarded his spouse. "Heather, my dear. You look fucking sexy in this dress," he whispered into her ear. Before he gently opened a small box and produced a rather impressive pearl necklace which he then gently strung around her neck, after brushing her mane of hair out of the way, so he could string the necklace together. "There you go." and with that, he gently kissed his spouse on the side of her neck. She moaned softly at him as he knew exactly how to excite her, how to tease her and how to please her.

Heather arched an eyebrow. "Now, now. Let's not start something we don't get the time to finish." as she slowly smiled at him. In truth, however, Heather did like the dress she was in, a simple light grey dinner dress which came to just above her knees. It wasn't overly dramatic and it also was something that Heather could wear to any event.

Enrique smiled. He was wearing a simple pair of slacks and a light grey shirt, matching his spouse in colours. "The hall is rented dear, the orchestra is engaged. It's time to see if anyone shows up." he gently hugged his spouse from behind. "Tonight, however. You are mine." he then grinned at her.

"Promises, promises," Heather answered her husband. She turned has heard as she watched him head out into the main living area. The Christmas party was not being held here as there were simply too many people coming to it. Along with over a dozen children present, so, Heather had made sure to book one of the Starbase conference halls for this get-together, rather than her own quarters. It wasn't the largest venue available but Heather didn't want anything big or flashy, she wanted space for fifty people to be able to enjoy a meal together. Heather had stuck in her request like anyone else. Heather also made it a point to set an example for all others to follow.

All venues were on a first-come and first-served basis. Even Heather Duval was subject to the rules. She made sure to behave herself and she thus encouraged others to do likewise. "Some days, it's good to be the queen." as she gave her husband a rather impish smile.

"Y'know. Heather. I was always wondering... Why do you follow the rules so carefully... We both know of Admirals who do whatever they want and get away with it." Enrique asked of his wife. What he wanted to know was why she followed the rules and others did not.

Heather paused as she considered it. "A true monster is clever enough not to be scary, it hides in plain sight. Praying on our ignorance. It doesn't roar before it devours us. It rather waits for us to openly invite it into our lives." she commented. "Most Starfleet Admirals have a reputation for being assholes. I prefer to set an example for others. It's bad enough that we have a serious shortage of Admirals. What's worse is that nobody wants to be an Admiral. They want the Captain's rank and their own command." Heather explained with a gentle smile. "I found that I preferred administration rather than command. Jake has two sisters who are like that too." as she grinned at her husband. "Both are assigned to me and I want to make Heather and Coral useful to me."

Enrique regarded his spouse. He smiled across the room at her. "Well, thats why I got out... I hated the attitude that the average Admiral had... I still do." he then shrugged his shoulders. "I make exceptions, of course." as he regarded his spouse.

Heather knew all of this already. "Thats why I must set an example." Heather regarded her husband. "Starfleet is full of tales of moronic Admirals being idiots," she explained as she let out a sigh. "So, since I am the person in charge of Starfleet out here. I set an example and I make sure my guys follow it too," she explained. "Valerie shows up and does her job but Jake... Well, I see him being an excellent successor for me when the time comes." as she regarded her husband.

"Nice," Enrique answered with a gentle smile. Heather took a moment to slip on her shoes before she went out into the main area. Heather smiled before she went over to the replicator and she ordered a glass of water for herself. She ordered a glass of water which appeared after a moment.

Heather lifted it, she then drank the entire glass in one smooth motion. "I hate being dehydrated." she clarified for her husband, she noticed the look on his face as she answered his unspoken question.
