Mission: Mission 108: Grains of Sand
Location: Various Locations - USS Heart of the Tiger / Starbase Vanguard
Timeline: 1430Hrs - December 3rd, 2393

Lt Commander Solin arrived to report to the captain at his ready room. The medical officer looked to be in a young middle age for a Vulcan, uniform pressed cleanly and free of wrinkles, priding himself in his spotless appearance. He rang the chime at the door to wait for the captain, a flat expression on his face and showing no signs of nerves nor excitement.

"Enter," Hunt said. It hadn't been the best of days but he'd reached a state of relative calm. He had requested a two-hour block of holodeck time for this evening and the promise of the release that would give him had helped immeasurably. He took a sip of coffee and watched as someone new entered his Ready Room.

The Vulcan science officer stepped inside, straight and at attention, almost too stiffly as he stood before the captain at his chair. He, by contrast, wasn't thinking about anything but a duty. He scanned the room quickly to get a sense of the room, the captain's furniture and personal effects before letting his dark eyes settle on the man. "Greetings, Captain. I am Lieutenant Commander Solin, the new chief medical officer, here to introduce myself to you before our voyage."

Hunt noted the way the man took in the room before meeting his eyes and found it interesting how many different ways there were to formally report in. "Have a seat, Doctor," Hunt said quietly. "I was told to expect you."

Solin very primly helped himself to the seat across from Hunt, sitting with an ever straight perfect posture. His movements were almost mechanical, just a little too perfect. "How might I best be of service to you and this vessel, sir?"

Solin watched him as he sat down in the chair. It was the briefing that he had received on the Doctor that was foremost in his mind. When he had selected Solin as his new chief of medicine. Starfleet security had been contacted regarding the matters of what had taken place on the Solemn Pennance and the mutiny that had been dealt with.

Hunt had received a full briefing on the matter and the implications were matters he was still struggling to come to terms with. "I know a bit about your background Doctor. I could argue that I know the full details of what happened after the Solemn Pennance. He had all but insisted upon it.

Just exactly when the details would be released to the public was still a matter of contention and debate in the halls of Starfleet Command. But as far as Hunt was concerned. The very mention of the word 'mutiny' was cause for concern. Just the faintest rumblings of the term almost always sent shivers up and down his spine. "I am aware of what happened on that ship and needless to say. It raises questions." Hunt commented. "What was your role in the entire affair.?"

"Indeed,. it does. sir." Solin answered with a nod of his head. "I was being rotated off of the ship to take a training course. My absence allowed the mutiny to take hold. Brought by my temporary replacement who was able to ensure that the crew were divided and pitted against each other." the Vulcan explained. "What did not help was two other items. Half the crew were reservists and we were out in the field for over three months, where we should have been out for just under a month."

"That's a tad extreme," Hunt commented. "But you were never involved at all?"

"I was not even present aboard the ship at the time the matter had taken place, sir," Solin answered. "Yet the taint has followed me ever since."

"Ahh," Hunt answered. He then sighed softly. "That explains that. Starfleet security said that the crew of the Solemn Pennance needed to be watched. I disagreed but I was overruled. It was because of what happened during the Mutiny. People being murdered and the like." Hunt explained with a soft sigh.

Solin nodded his head. "Indeed," he commented. "Many crimes were committed during those times," he commented evenly. "However, my service record is still impeccable. My skillset is still on record as being almost peerless," he added.

"I read your qualifications. You are twice as skilled as my previous medical officer." Hunt commented. "Doctor Cullen was reassigned because he had children and he refused to be parted from his spouse."
Hunt then shrugged his shoulders. "For now. You will be serving as my ship's chief medical officer. So you'll be free to work your own hours as you see fit." he explained.

Solin nodded his head. "I understand." he nodded his head. "I will see to it that medical operates as expected." he then nodded his head.

"Sounds good. I won't keep you further." Hunt answered. "Dismissed Doctor." with that, the meeting was over.
