| Personal History | Solin was born aboard a Vulcan Research Vessel and raised mostly off planet during his youth. His abilities to sense emotions at range led to many years of failed treatments and being poked and prodded by Researchers and Physicians. It was also discovered he was unable to join or initiate a telepathic mind meld, bringing further shame and ostracizing for him. His father was very hard on him growing up, feeling the shame of a defective child, especially one that appeared to openly embrace his emotions(openly by Vulcan standards). This grew much worse after his mother died on an away mission to treat injured colonists near the Neutral Zone. He spent the rest of his abbreviated childhood mostly schooled by tutors and members of other species, as most Vulcans found him to disturbing to be around for any length of time. He finished his early education quickly and left his father's home for the last time when he enrolled in Star Fleet, feeling that he might find more of a place to belong there than with his people. His father bade him to Live Long and Prosper and has not contacted him since, despite sporadic efforts from Solin to maintain some sort of relationship with him. Solin suspected that his father never properly dealt with the anguish of losing Solin's mother so early and somehow transferred that negativity onto his disappointment in his son. He was a supremely introspective child. and while at Star Fleet as well, seldom socializing. After graduating Star fleet Academy with a degree in Biochemistry, he was accepted into Starfleet Medical and after obtaining his MD, he attended Advanced Training in Counseling with a specific focus on cross-cultural techniques. It was during this time that he felt he had found his purpose in life and pursued it with zeal. After doing two years of clinical experience, he opted to go another year for Trauma Counseling before accepting his first posting aboard the USS Tenebrious, a medical frigate assigned to render aid to societies and worlds ravaged by war or other types of devastation. |
