Mission:
Mission 114: Be All My Sins Remember'd
Location: Various Locations - USS Pembo/Starbase Vanguard
Timeline: 0930Hrs, November 9th, 2393
The hatch opened as two people stood before the assembled welcoming committee, one was a massive looking white-skinned male and the other was an older female with dark skin, she smiled as she nodded to Yamaguchi. "Permission to come aboard Captain?"
"Of course Admiral, welcome. This is Commander Alexandra Harrison, my first officer, and Lieutenant Taselle Dragon, my Chief Engineer."
Duval nodded to both of the other officers. "Well, I know you've met Captain Tirion Fordring before Victoria. He is the Starbase Chief Engineer and he'll be looking after your assignment for the next few weeks while you enjoy your time off." Duval then grinned.
"Hello Tirion, It's good to see you again... How's Galiaan doing these days?" Yamaguchi asked.
"Lo Victoria. Galiaan is well, she sends her regards." Fordring answered before he greeted the other two officers standing with Yamaguchi.
"Now. Why don't we let our Engineers get to know each other, Captain, Commander... You two, come with me." and with that Duval turned and departed the Pembo as Yamaguchi and Harrison followed. Taselle Dragon looked up at the man who was twice her size. "Well, umm... Hi, welcome aboard. Can I show you around?" she inquired.
"Sure Lieutenant." Fordring smiled down at her. "Let's drop by Main Engineering and I can see how your issues are doing and arrange for Pembo's repairs... It looks like you got smacked around rather good out there..." he smiled down at her. "Don't worry. We will arrange for Pembo's proper tender loving care."
Dragon walked beside the massive man beside her. "You almost sound like a parent... What species are you... There is no way, that you're human..."
"Nope. I am a Vrykul. Physically we look alike to humans, we can have children with them as three of my children have families with humans." he explained with a gentle and happy smile. "Galiaan and I have much to be happy about and proud of with our children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren," he explained with a smile, enjoying the smaller female's reactions to his comments.
"Oh wow, you look good for your age," Dragon answered, for lack of anything better to say.
"Thanks." Fordring grinned at her. "You are quite the beauty yourself." as he regarded her.
"Umm... Thanks.." Dragon answered as she took a moment to look left and then right. "Err... This way... lets. Umm. Engineering is this way." the smaller female stammered, Fordring followed, with a soft grin as he laughed softly while he walked beside her. "El-Tee, I like you. Most don't have a sense of humour but I like you."
"I try..." Dragon answered as she turned a shade of deep grey.
Meanwhile. Fleet Admiral Heather Duval knew what was coming, she wanted to make this fast and not drag out the details presently before her. She faced the two arrivals as she nodded her head. "Captain, Commander... You two, come with me." and with that Duval turned and departed the Pembo as Yamaguchi and Harrison followed the older woman down the hallway.
Duval led the two people to their destination. Her office was on level five which the small group reached after a few minutes of silence. Duval entered her office as she took her seat behind her desk before she scowled while she indicated the chairs before her. "Take a seat you two, those aren't for decoration, I didn't haul you up here for a bollocking, if I was going to say it then I'd have done it at the airlock and skipped this silent march here," she explained as the other two moved to be seated.
Yamaguchi regarded the older woman before her while she made herself comfortable. "What can we do for you, Admiral.?" she inquired politely as Harrison sat down on the sofa. She regarded Duval with the ease of a seasoned police officer rather than one officer to another, but she held her tongue.
"I wanted to do a quick debrief... When Admiral Lasky arrives... He was the one that sent you on this assignment so it's only fitting that he should be present to find out how things went..." There was something off in Duval's tone of voice as she said it. "The fallout is already getting loud..."
The doorbell beeped. "It's open," Duval called. The doors parted and in walked Division Admiral Tom Lasky. He looked at the assembled gathering present. "Welcome home Captain. Commander," he commented as he took a seat next to Yamaguchi. "Admiral?" he said to Duval.
"Alright. Now that we are all here. The Halanan government is angry. I mean really angry about recent developments." Duval explained. "Did you find what we were suspecting and dreading?"
"We did. Admiral. They have their own cure but it's not as far along as ours is..." Harrison answered. "The medical personel assigned to the Pembo gave it the quick once over... But the resources they used are Federation in origin..."
"Lovely." Duval sighed softly. "The Halanan government has announced their succession from the Federation. They have also formally declared that a state of war now exists between us... and them."
Lasky paused, this was a major revelation. "What?" he asked softly. "They must be mad if they think they are taking us on..."
Duval shook her head. "I don't think they are going to. I think they will want a diplomatic response and then they will psionically manipulate the Federation team into giving them everything they want."
"Our response Admiral.?" Yamaguchi asked softly.
"At present. We don't have one but I am scheduled to speak with Starfleet Command within the hour. I will, of course, keep you all informed of developments." Fleet Admirals did not chew the fat with Commanders or Captains for any reason. Unless they had nothing better to do and Fleet Admiral Heather Duval had many better things to do. "Tom... I think this plan of yours kicked over a major hornet's nest... We might end up answering for this. I will try to provide whatever cover I can but... I suspect this is going to get very stupid and fast." she paused. "Whats said in here, goes no further than these walls. In the meantime, you two. Go home. Get some sleep, write your formal reports for this assignment. Leave nothing out and enjoy the time off. I'll call you if anything comes up." Duval paused a moment. "Dismissed." and with that, the meeting was ended.
