Commander Siaxx Dvald-Vaxx sighed softly, she was wearing civilian clothing as she walked down the massive plaza that had dozens if not hundreds of shops, stores, and restaurants that catered to everything that a customer could possibly want, from entertainment for children to the same of a more decidedly adult nature.
Dvald-Vaxx looked up at the man who was walking beside her. Master Chief Chen Vaxx smiled as he looked down at his spouse. "Penny for your thoughts?"
Siaxx grinned up at him. "I've missed you and the boys," she responded. "I'm glad you and I will be working together again," she added in a soft tone as she gently took his hand in hers.
Dvald-Vaxx and Vaxx were a married couple and they had worked together before, also they had been separated due to assignments but they had remained in touch and the kids still talked to mom and dad on a regular basis so they knew each other very well. Dvald-Vaxx was presently having issues and Vaxx had noticed before he had stepped in to assist her with things, now she was happier then she had been in a long time, however, it had come too late to be of any real help to Siaxx at this point.
Dvald-Vaxx sighed as she mentally thought back to the physic evaluation that she had blown yesterday, it had removed her from command of the USS Manticore by Sildra Vaxx-Warfield who had told her not to worry about things and that her career was still salvageable.
"You're doing it again," Vaxx said as he smiled down at her, he was a foot taller then Dvald-Vaxx herself was, he smiled gently down at the shorter female.
"Your sister was the one who stripped me of my command," Dvald-Vaxx explained.
"Yeah, Sildra did tell me about that, she didn't enjoy it," Vaxx responded lightly. "That's an understatement," he added in a rather dry tone of voice.
Dvald-Vaxx simply shrugged in a non-committal tone. "It doesn't matter anyway. I'm wearing the teal uniform again rather than the red uniform." she sighed. "Chen, it doesn't really matter, had I been in her shoes and her in mine, I would still have done it. I can't afford to have a skipper with issues like that out in the field." Siaxx explained as to why she didn't hold a grudge.
Vaxx regarded her in silence for a moment. "So you aren't holding a grudge.?"
"What. Oh, Valen no." Dvald-Vaxx answered lightly. "It would be worse than stupid, it would only prove my critics that they were right all along." the small female spoke in a gentle tone of voice.
Vaxx smiled softly. "I've missed you."
"I know," Dvald-Vaxx responded with a gentle grin. "For now, however, I'll go work on whatever punishment assignment I am given and then I'll deal with things as best as I can. Having you and our children present will be a help to me." the small Bolian female explained.
"I will help in any way I can." Chen answered in a gentle tone, a smile on his lips. "We will manage."
Siaxx had a rather large smile on her face as she and her husband were walking back to their temporary quarters as they both wanted to spend some time alone celebrating and taking some time to talk about a few things that needed to be addressed.
"Alright, well I'm considering sticking in my retirement paperwork, just in case." Chen smiled down at her as the two entered their quarters. "I know you've been through a lot recently, I'm going to help you with things, whatever it takes."
"I know." Dvald-Vaxx smiled. "How will your sister take this?"
"I don't know and." he paused a moment as he frowned. "Nor do I care really."
Dvald-Vaxx looked up at her spouse. "Don't think like that, it's not good for either of us," she responded in a soft tone. "You should tell her. I'll be there with you when you do."
Vaxx nodded. "Your right Siaxx... Alright, I'll call her so we can tell her to her face."
Dvald-Vaxx chuckled softly before she shook her head. "This should be worth it at least. Then I can take you to bed and I can be reminded why I prefer you and only you." as she watched her husband go over to the display, he tapped it once before he began tapping away at it. He pulled up the messaging system and quickly in the broad strokes, he typed out a message to his sister that he had something to tell her when she was free but it had to be to her face.
Dvald-Vaxx chortled softly as she realized the true depth of her husband's planning. "You're serious.." she muttered quietly.
"Oh yes," Vaxx answered before he sent the message. "Sent. We can expect her presence soon."
Dvald-Vaxx settled onto the sofa after she kicked off her ankle-high boots at the door, she smiled as she regarded her husband. "I'm going to draft up my request for time off. For now, it'll be temporary rather than permanent as I know I'm going to need some serious time off for this."
"Alright. I'll drop my retirement paperwork at the same time, I've been in Starfleet since I was aged eighteen when I first enlisted, fuck that's well over twenty-five years ago now." he paused. "Twenty-seven years. I made Master Chief five years ago." he paused. "I recall when you and I first met, back on the F. Scott Fitzgerald."
Dvald smiled. "That was a different time and I was so much more idealistic." she sighed softly. "I was a different woman back then, without all this shit to handle."
"I read about what happened to you on the Andromeda," Vaxx answered with a sigh. "That explains a lot."
"Yeah and now this, being relieved for the second time, most don't survive the first," Dvald-Vaxx answered.
"You can still salvage your career," Vaxx commented with a nod.
"No. At this point, I have too much shit in Starfleet and too much to process. I want to do it when I can and not when I feel rushed by people who were assholes to me. No, I want out." Dvald-Vaxx answered. "I need time away to even consider if I want to remain a part of a homo sapiens only club."
"Wow, you have little respect for Starfleet these days." Vaxx reminded his wife.
"Yeah, considering its been humans who've caused me most of my misery," Dvald-Vaxx answered.
Vaxx went over to the replicator as he ordered two drinks, he picked them both up as they appeared when he made his way back over to his wife as she continued to vent, he handed her one of them. "I hear ya Siaxx but not everyone is against you."
"I know but. It's just that I can't see the end of it, no matter what I do, something blows up somewhere and honestly Chen. I'm tired. I'm sick of it, I'm tired of having to prove to others that I'm not crazy and I'm just.." she stopped as she ran out of the air in her lungs. The fuel for her rant. "I'm tired, Chen. I wake up tired and I go to bed tired. I can't get a break anywhere and I hate therapists. The last one fucked me over, for good this time."
Vaxx had no idea of what to say to that long-winded statement which was just as well, the doorbell rang at the same time, saving him from answering his wife's tirade. Vaxx answered the door before he found himself facing his sibling. "Chen, I got your note, what's going on?"
"Come in Sildra. You should hear it from us both."
Sildra Vaxx-Warfield blinked. "Both?" she reacted with a measure of suspicion and surprise. "Chen, whats going on.?" as she noticed Dvald-Vaxx sitting nearby.
Vaxx turned and retreated into his quarters, leaving his sibling to follow in silence, she quickly spotted the second Bolian seated on the sofa, she recognized Siaxx Dvald quickly. "You two are working together again." she muttered softly. "Wait, do I wanna know?"
"We renewed our vows about ninety minutes ago," Vaxx answered bluntly.
"You didn't invite me." Vaxx-Warfield glared at her brother. "Seriously!"
"No, I didn't invite you or anyone else, I, that is we, decided to keep this quiet without the fanfare of friends, crewmates, and wellwishers," Vaxx growled at his sister.
Dvald-Vaxx kept her silence, as she watched brother and sister interact but she didn't say anything.
"You cannot possibly be fucking serious!" Vaxx-Warfield snapped back at her brother.
"Hey, you are the one who married a human and are raising Bolian and Human children with him and you lose your mind when I decide to marry. You're not just unbelievable, you're also a fucking hypocrite." Vaxx snarled at his sister.
"Enough," Dvald-Vaxx said quietly but it was enough to silence the two siblings feuding. "I see now, why he wanted to tell you to your face," Dvald-Vaxx commented in a gentle tone as she rose to her feet. "Let me see if I got this right. You're pissed off because he married me because you think that he married me to spite you in relieving me of my command." Siaxx suddenly grinned, it was the kind of grin when the fight was won and Siaxx could tell she was scoring hits. "How'm I doing so far?" she inquired of the larger female.
"I'd say you were right," Vaxx-Warfield admitted.
"You have so little faith in your brother that if I was serving under you, I don't think I could trust someone who had so little faith in the people around them," Dvald-Vaxx responded in a harsh tone. "See unlike you, this cannot register with me on an emotional level. Do you wish to know why?" Siaxx inquired in a dark tone.
Vaxx-Warfield blinked. "Why.?"
Dvald-Vaxx hauled off and smacked Vaxx-Warfield across the face. "That's why, how dare you come into my home with my husband and my youngest child who's sleeping in the next room and you start shit, on my second wedding day. No less" the smaller female snarled.
Vaxx gently separated his wife from his sister. "Okay, I think we've all let this get to us."
"I agree," Dvald-Vaxx answered. "Fortunately my mother will have a far better reaction, so will Lenaris, along with his wife Lakaris and my other sister Theris who are all nearby," she added. "My kin know how to behave themselves, at the very least."
Just then there was another knock at the door. Dvald-Vaxx smiled. "I'll get the door this time." as she went to do exactly that. At the other side was another female Bolian who looked almost identical to Siaxx, except her eyes were a different color and her face had more lines across it. "Hey, sweetie..." Sohnaxx Dvald smiled. "What am I interrupting?" as she noted the look on Siaxx's face.
"My husband is about to murder his sibling," Siaxx responded in a dark tone of voice.
Sohnaxx moved into her daughter's home with purpose as she found herself regarding two middle-aged Bolians who looked alike. "Stop it, you two," Sohnaxx growled. "There will be no violence in this place. I mean it, Admiral. Do not fuck with me." Sohnaxx growled at Vaxx-Warfield.
"I see where Siaxx-" was as far as she got before Chen sighed. "Sildra, get out." before he turned and walked over to the replicator. "Okay. This conversation is over, I'm going to check on my son." and with that, he moved into the nearby bedroom in silence.
"Sildra, time for you to leave, you'll resolve nothing by staying," Dvald commented to the younger woman but then she was Siaxx's mother and everyone in the room was younger then she was.
Vaxx-Warfield turned and left in a huff as Sohnaxx Dvald gently embraced her daughter. "I wanted to surprise, you. I heard you'd been stripped of your command. Why don't you come work for me on the Stalingrad, I could really use another skilled Doctor."
"Its really tempting mom, yes. I'll come work for you." Siaxx suddenly grinned at her mother. "It'll be nice to have you in my life mom," Dvald-Vaxx explained with a smile. "It really is good to see you though. I can introduce you to Daenerys."
Sohnaxx regarded her daughter. "I look forward to you telling me about who that is..." she paused "So, what's going on with your husband.?" Dvald inquired of her daughter as she indicated the other bedroom with her hand.
"Yes." Dvald-Vaxx turned. "Mom, you remember Chen." Siaxx did the reminder quickly. "Chen, you recall Sohnaxx Dvald. My mom" Siaxx explained.
Chen Vaxx had come back over as he nodded to the smaller female. "Yes, hey Sohnaxx." before he gave the smaller female a hug.
Sohnaxx grinned. "Hello, son. It's great to see you."
"You sure your skipper will have issues with this mom?" Siaxx inquired.
"No. Marie Yamaguchi lets me run my department as I see fit," Sohnaxx explained. "Marie will sign off on you both in a heartbeat," she commented. "I assume you want a week off before I submit the paperwork, requesting you both?" the older female.
"Please?" Siaxx responded. "It'll be nice to get back into the field again."
