Without Remorse

Posted on Thu Mar 19th, 2020 @ 4:19am by 2nd Lieutenant Jasmine Connor-Yamaguchi & Division Admiral Celeste Yamaguchi-Hobbs

Mission: Mission 100: I'm Going to Ruin Somebody's Day
Location: Various Locations - Starbase Vanguard
Timeline: 0900Hrs - July 12th, 2393

Commodore Celeste Yamaguchi placed the PADD she had been working on into the 'DONE' pile, but as she was just starting her shift, she was not getting very far with her workload on this particular day but then she had only been on watch for about an hour or so. Yamaguchi-Hobbs sighed as she ran her hands through her hair, which only went to the nape of her neck, what was better for Yamaguchi-Hobbs on this particular day was that her hair was behaving itself.

Yamaguchi-Hobbs sighed softly as she closed her eyes, she opened them to find herself standing outside of her bedroom, in her quarters on the starbase as she found herself regarding a younger woman before her. "So when was your last cycle?" Yamaguchi-Hobbs almost demanded as the older female recognized Jasmine Connor before her. "When was your last cycle?"

"Umm..." Connor paused. "I don't know..." she responded in a hesitant and halting tone of voice. "I think... last month..." she added.

Yamaguchi-Hobbs frowned as she glared at the younger woman. "Yeah. I'll bet it was," she commented with a soft growl.

"What do you want from me, mom?" Connor sighed softly. "Gimme a break already."

"What would you have me do?" Yamaguchi-Hobbs answered. "I have to clean up your mess.." she added.

"Who said you had to do anything..." the young woman snapped back at her mother. "You didn't do anything for Daniel or Marie when they had their children, why should I be different?" Connor explained, she tried using logic but Yamaguchi-Hobbs was not having it. "Because you live in my house, therefore I make the rules, not you and not your siblings," she answered.

Connor rolled her eyes. "Yeah, figures you'd say that old bullshit routine." she snapped back in a rather defiant tone of voice. "I'm fifteen and I can make my own choices, I've been making them for years... Considering you were never around."

"You watch your mouth, young lady, when you speak to me," Yamaguchi-Hobbs answered angrily.

"Yeah, sure. Whatever mom." Connor snapped back.

"Get out!" Yamaguchi-Hobbs pointed to the door. "Now," she added, her voice was little better than a loud, angry hiss.

Connor turned and withdrew from her mother, who was downright enraged. She was also angry in her own way but rather than snap back at her, she simply walked away to let her mother cool off.

Yamaguchi-Hobbs seethed in her own hatred, as she stood there, holding her silence when suddenly the office space seemed to change around her, she found herself sitting back in her own office, on Starbase Vanguard with a PADD in hand and a stylus in the other. Yamaguchi-Hobbs blinked as she found herself feeling lost and confused. "What the hell was that?" the middle-aged female asked softly.

"Unknown." came the unexpected answer from the base's computer, answering her question.

Yamaguchi-Hobbs raised an eyebrow as she got quickly irritated. "Where was I, just now?" she asked aloud, of the computer system.

"You have not let your office all morning Commodore." came the unexpected answer.

"That can't be right." she paused as she shook her head. "Check again."

"You have not departed from this office, all morning." came the answer.

"Then who the fuck was I talking to?" Yamaguchi-Hobbs demanded in a highly annoyed tone of voice. "I was not talking to myself."

"Unknown." came the answer.

Yamaguchi-Hobbs sighed in an angry huff. This was getting nowhere and was only making her angry quickly. She placed the PADD down on the desktop in front of her as she mentally recalled what had just happened, she had taken the place of her mother as she suddenly found herself recalling that she had once made the same angry argument against her mother. Almost word for word no less.

Yamaguchi-Hobbs sighed softly as she thought of her fifteen-year-old self, the younger and more innocent woman she used to be. "Wait, I wore my hair differently. That woman couldn't have been me..." she paused. "But if not me, then who?" she asked aloud.

"Unknown." the base computer answered her.

"I was not addressing you," Yamaguchi-Hobbs responded, a trifle hotly before the middle-aged female settled back into her chair to consider the matter. "Who are you, girl?" she asked softly while she faced the sneaking suspicion that she had seen the younger female somewhere before.

It suddenly dawned on her. "Jasmine." and with that. Yamaguchi-Hobbs rose to her feet and out the door, she went in silence.
