Mission:
Mission 96: Settling Accounts
Location: Various Locations - Starbase 12
Timeline: September 6th 2392
SIB Special Agent Cloudkit and his team of SIB agents and SDF swat walked onto the main concourse of Starbase 12, leaving their Steamrunner class patrol escort. Immediately he went to the starbase command center.
Minutes later he and his team were in the starbase command center.
Grand Admiral April Yamaguchi turned her head. "Ahh Special Agent Cloudkit. I was told to expect you," she commented. "I assume you've met Commodore Whiteshadow?"
Whiteshadow shook his head. "No, we've not met but it's good to meet you." he smiled down at the smaller being. "Welcome aboard, Do you want time for your guys to settle in or do you wish to go to work?"
Cloudkit shook his furry head. "No, we will get to work right away."
"Sounds good," Whiteshadow responded. "Let's go into the Admirals office and I can brief you on the details." as the group moved into April's office which was in a state of being packed away.
Whiteshadow handed Cloudkit a PADD. "On that pad is a list of names from an alternate reality, there were six hundred and forty-one names in all, we captured them awhile ago thanks to them doing something incredibly stupid, they flew through warp in zone number two while the Valhalla and Noble arrived, the Roanoke-A was arriving at the same time. We also captured several infiltrators who bear resemblance to some of our own personnel. One of those is on the planet below, I've been keeping track of her and the rest are in either guest quarters or under arrest." Whiteshadow explained while he gave Cloudkit the details of the events in question.
Cloudkit then asked, "So are there any infiltrators still loose then."
Whiteshadow nodded his head. "Several. Yes. We believe it's four to six personnel but we're not a hundred percent sure."
Cloudkit then directed Kithlam Frinick to come forward. "Alright then, this is Special Operative 1st Class Frinick, she will work with your security department to help you find any of the others." He then introduced Creza," And this is Creza Addash, the squad leader for our SWAT Team, they can help apprehend any of the remaining infiltrators."
Whiteshadow smiled. "Welcome aboard Starbase 12. I welcome your assistance in rooting out our issues," he responded while addressing Addash.
"Anyway," Cloudkit mentioned as he moved on, " First thing is first, Myself and P'Relle would like to interview the crew of the Farragut, and we do need a JAG officer present for the interviews as the crew's legal advisor."
"Sounds good. I can serve in that role if you prefer, I like to be hands-on with my work and I like to let others see me being out and about, anything I can do to help move this case along." Whiteshadow explained.
Cloudkit then handed Whiteshadow a PADD saying," Well, this is what we intend to offer them. Either they can take asylum with us, and we will let them go. If they choose to remain loyal to the other side, they will be held as prisoners of war until we can negotiate with the other reality regarding their status. Currently, we are in a de facto state of war with this alternate reality."
"Sounds good to me," he answered. "Those who don't want to work with us can be remanded to the stockade on Jaros Two. Failing that then we can send them to a black rock with no name orbiting a star that has no name."
Grand Admiral Yamaguchi spoke up. "I have had some experience." she paused a moment as the sheer absurdity of her statement hit her. "With that universe, they are brutal and oppress their own. We might get some bad apples in this group."
Cloudkit nodded, then replied. "alright then, let's go to the interview room, We will interview the ship's captain first."
"Sounds good. I'll have her brought to us before we get there." Whiteshadow explained before he tapped his combadge, he then gave detailed instructions to the brig guards about who to bring and where to bring her to.
"She'll be waiting for us. Shall we?"
Cloudkit nodded and he and P'Relle both went to the briefing room where Warhowl was being brought. Both SIB agents took a seat on the opposite side of the table.
Warhowl was sitting in the interview room, sitting in silence as she glanced around the room, looking at everything, she seemed uneasy and nervous. "Umm. Why am I here?" she asked once the various people were assembled.
"You do not have to say anything at this point," Whiteshadow commented. "I'm Commodore Andrew Whiteshadow and these fine beings wish to talk to you. I will serve as your legal counsel at this time."
"Legal council," Warhowl responded. "Whats going on gentlemen?" she inquired in a gentle tone of voice while trying to not let on the fact that she was honestly scared out of her mind at this point.
P'Relle could tell instantly that Warhowl was extremely nervous, so she tried to be comforting," Relax, we are not here to torture you, we just want to ask you a few questions."
Warhowl paused as she breathed out and then back in. Whiteshadow turned his head. "Take a deep breath in and then let it out slowly." he counseled her. "We do not harm our prisoners, it is illegal and it causes more issues than it resolves."
P'Relle waited patiently for a minute or two then asked. "Alright Marie, first thing is first, you have two options. Either you can apply for refugee status with our federation, or you can decide to go back to your reality. However, if you choose to go back to your reality, we will have to hold you as a POW until we can negotiate your release back to the other reality."
"They will never negotiate for me. You'd be wasting your time." Warhowl paused. "Whats the process for this application?" she added.
P'Relle put a PADD in front of Warhowl. "There is the application."
Warhowl gently picked up the PADD as she began filling it out, her eyes processing what she was seeing as she filled out answers to the various questions. She finished it a few minutes later before she went back and proofread it for mistakes. Once she was finished, she handed it back. "Here you go." she paused. "I hope this is a good idea..."
Cloudkit answered simply, "Well, the way I see it, its a better idea than wasting resources leaving you locked up in a prison cell for the rest of your life."
"We shall see," Warhowl answered quietly. "I guess. I'll find out soon enough." she paused. "So what now?"
Whiteshadow was the one who answered. "Well. One minor thing. You'll need to select a new name as the name Marie Yamaguchi is already in use by the native that wears your face." he sighed. "I am sorry Ms. Yamaguchi but you'll need a new name,"
Warhowl sighed softly. "Alright." the female paused. "I will need a moment to consider it." she sighed as she sat back, clearly not liking the idea whatsoever. "Courtney."
"Okay. I'll make the change to your file but unless my colleagues have anything, then I think that's all we need from you." Whiteshadow commented evenly.
"Wait. What happens to me now?" Yamaguchi inquired.
"You'll be taken to a set of guest quarters which will be your home while your paperwork is being processed. Since you wish to cooperate with us."
"Okay." and paused. "One thing though, if I am to serve in Starfleet going forward. I do not wish to remain with this rank, I want to go back to what I used to love. I was a scientist, a biologist. I used to love studying a worlds oceans. Now I'm stuck being something I hate." The middle-aged female responded as Whiteshadow nodded. Courtney Yamaguchi rose to her feet.
"I think we can look into that for you." Whiteshadow paused. "The guard outside will fix you up," Whiteshadow added. "Okay, bring me the next person."
