Mission:
Mission 89: An Irresistible Force
Location: USS Myrina - Starbase 12, New Holland System
Timeline: 0800Hrs - July 3rd, 2392
Division Admiral Dessaix met Commodore 'Siranna' as she materialized on the transporter pad.
"Commodore, how are you doing the woman greeted the Caitian.
"I'm doing well Admiral," Siranna responded with a smile. "What can I do for you?" the tall Caitian female inquired.
"I just wanted to have a short meeting with the division command," Dessaix told her. "I read your folder. I'm glad to have you as part of my command."
"Whatever I can do to help your command Admiral, you have but to ask of me," Siranna responded, with a smile on her face.
"How are your ship and crew doing?" Dessaix asked.
"The ship is in excellent shape but the crew is tired, looking forward to a break, they've been on duty for months and they served well during the Gorn war," Siranna explained. "As did all the other ships assigned to me."
"Is that a subtle hint that your crew needs leave, Commodore?" Dessaix asked. "Because if it is now would be the best time. The division is still getting assembled. Once we are done bringing the destroyers together I have a long training regime scheduled."
"It's my request," Siranna responded. "I will pass along the word to my crew that leave is granted," she added. "How long before things are finished?"
"Three weeks is all I can give your crew unless they have unusual circumstances that require more time," Dessaix told Siranna.
"Nope. three weeks is good. Thank you." Siranna responded with a smile, she tapped her combadge and contacted her ship, passing along the news. "Tell them they have twenty days and make it count. Siranna Out."
"Admiral, another person is getting beamed over." the tech working the transporter announced. After a moment, another commodore was on the pad.
"Commodore Dumford?" Dessaix asked.
"Yes, Admiral." he replied.
"Hello, I'm Division Admiral Dessaix and this is Commodore Siranna." She introduced herself.
"Glad to meet you both." He told them.
Siranna nodded her head. "Welcome aboard," she answered.
Dumford nodded back. Dessaix interrupted him. "I need to ask, where is your flag going to go, Commodore Dunford?"
"On the Leopard." He answered.
"The Leopard is still at the shipyards. How are you going to command ships when your flag ship is still under construction?" Dessaix asked.
"I'll command where I am at now. On the station." Dumford replied.
"Why don't you use the Comte De LaSalle? She has no commander assigned." Dessaix suggested.
"The Comte De LaSalle will be assigned a commander. He is an up and coming Lieutenant." Dumford replied. "Under section 7A42 of regulations, I can't use that ship unless we are at war. Under section 42C8W6V I need to use a station until the Leopard is ready."
"I see." Dessaix wasn't sure what to say.
Siranna blinked. "Would you mind trying that again, in English and not gibberish.?" she inquired. "Because my bullshit alarm is screaming at me."
Dumford laughed. "I know you line officers aren't big on regulations. Back at head quarters we try and do things by the book."
"In case you haven't noticed Commodore, you're in the line now." Dessaix reminded him.
"For now Admiral," Dumford replied.
Siranna sighed. "If you are trying to annoy me, you just succeeded. My children lie better than you do, they are also more intelligent too."
"Commodore," Dessaix frowned at Siranna. "I'm sure Commodore Dumford has good reasons for not taking command of his ship. He will explain them first thing tomorrow morning in my office." She gave Dumford a stern look.
"We aren't using semaphores anymore. What's the big deal? How hard could it be to command ships from the comfort of a desk and office?" He asked.
Siranna turned her head to regard Dessaix in silence before she shifted her attention back to the human man before her. She slowly blinked her large eyes. "I apologize for my temper," she commented. "I love being in the field. My mate and children are never far away and I make time for them too." she paused. "But I'm afraid I simply don't understand your logic.."
"I don't understand that logic either Commodore," Dessaix told Siranna. "I'm sure the good Commodore will enlighten me tomorrow."
"Very well. I will leave it alone and say no more." Siranna responded. "Do you require anything further of me?" the tall Caitian inquired.
"No, thank you Commodore. I do want to hold more formal command meeting once all the division is filled out. That won't be until about a month from now. Until then, enjoy some time off." Dessaix told Siranna.
Dessaix turned to Dumford. "I'll be waiting in my office tomorrow morning. Your dismissed Commodore."
Siranna smiled. "Thank you." and with that, the Caitian turned and departed in silence.
