I'm not Dead

Posted on Thu Mar 12th, 2020 @ 12:24am by Commander Sokanon It'kla & Commander Moni Nasao PhD & Lieutenant Commander Kthaara 'Leadfoot' Taavoro

Mission: Mission 85: My Soul's in Arms, and Eager for the Fray
Location: USS Spirit of Winter - Sickbay
Timeline: May 12th 2392

Leadfoot stretched as he set foot on the Spirit of Winter. The Roanoke was out of action for good, so most of the crew ended up transferring to Spirit of Winter. However, his first order of business was finding Moni Nasao, which wasn't too hard, as she was hanging out in the lounge.

Lieutenant Moni Nasao was finishing her meal in the lounge, she peered out the forward viewport as she let out a soft sigh. She had heard nothing since Leadfoot had been shot down a couple of hours earlier. Lieutenant Gabriel Yamaguchi had even sent her to go and enjoy a late lunch and as soon as he heard anything, she'd know about it shortly. "Where are you Leadfoot.?" she asked quietly aloud.

"Right behind you," Leadfoot answered as he walked up behind her.

Nasao blinked as she turned to face him. "Oh." she paused. "So what happened to you?" she inquired. "Last I heard, someone rammed you and the last I see of you is you falling towards Goranar." she paused a second time. "Details please?" she indicated a table. "Let's sit down for this chat."

Leadfoot winced as he carefully took a seat, conscious of his injuries. But he elaborated his story the best he could, "Yeah, it seems that the Klingon fighter than rammed me, well, she was a child. And it seems that the jackasses that forced her into the cockpit, either didn't tell her how to work the disruptors or the disruptors on the fighter didn't work at all. But the craziest part is the girl actually survived. She isn't much of the warrior type, so I'll talk to Vrenn and see if he will be willing to take her and the others in."

Nasao listened in silence. "That story sounds almost too unbelievable.. but knowing the Klingons, that is something they would do." the heavily pregnant Caitian female paused, a soft growl coming from her throat. "Well at least, you are alright." she noticed something. "Oh, you're hurt... Are you heading to sickbay to get yourself checked over?" she inquired.

Leadfoot nodded. "Yeah I probably should do that, But I wanted to find you first."

Nasao softly smiled at him. "Well, I appreciate that," she responded. "But go get yourself checked. No need to suffer needlessly." before she gently kissed him on the lips. "But it's great to see you."

Leadfoot carefully picked himself up out of the chair, then nearly fell due to a sharp pain in his leg, "Ow."

Nasao quickly caught him in a hug to prevent his falling over. "Come on... I'll go with you," she reassured him.

Leadfoot nodded and the two Caitians went to sickbay, where the children Leadfoot had picked up where being checked by the nurses. Sokanon and Windspirit where the two doctors immediately available.

Sokanon regarded Moni Nasao and Leadfoot. "What happened to you?" she regarded Leadfoot with a look. "I don't think you two were wrestling."

Leadfoot shook his head as he carefully took a seat on one of the beds. "No, Moni Nasao wasn't wrestling." Leadfoot then indicated Galsen, "No, she tried to use her fighter to wrestle with mine."

Sokanon turned her attention to the small Klingon child. "Wait. Her?" she indicated the female. "Okay then.." she paused as the slim Caitian went to work. "Let's see..." she paused. "Right.. yes."

Windspirit stood by, keeping an eye on Sokanon while Leadfoot noticed that Ki'Skye was in the room, helping out the doctors. Windspirit then mentioned. "Yeah, your adopted daughter has actually made herself useful around here lately." She then motioned to the young caitian to come over, and she promptly came, her tail brushing up against Moni.

Nasao smiled. "Nice. That's what I like to hear..." she then sighed. "Considering security wanted to... Deport her, I more or less told the man that if he ever came near her, I would disembowel him," she commented. "You behaving yourself and learning what you can Ki'Skye?" she inquired in a jovial tone to the small child who lived at home with her and Leadfoot.

Ki'skye gave a purring nod and hugged Moni, while Leadfoot smiled saying. "Well, it's nice that you two are getting along good."

"Well, she-" Nasao indicated the small Caitian before she hugged her back. "Ki'Skye takes good care of me, she almost mothers me. Which I do not mind in the least," she responded with a smile. "Besides. the Security guard scared her. Which upset me. His reaction to that offended me."

Leadfoot sighed then he noticed Renhai coming in.

Renhai, meanwhile went over to Sokanon and Windspirit saying. "Hey, guys. I need you two to round up the medical officers who are in the best shape to go to other ships to act as replacements, as our ship, with its battle damage is going back to the rear. We will be transporting a lot of the wounded back to the rear as well to the field hospital on B Kayor."

Sokanon nodded her head. "Okay. I will. Ummm, look at the list and see who can remain here and who's going back to umm.. the rear." she paused. "Umm.. yes."

Renhai looked at Windspirit and the older Eeiaouan replied. "Alright, I'll take care of it."

Renhai nodded and turned her attention back to Sokanon. "Oh, and Sokanon, you're coming back to the rear with us too."

"I am?" she sighed softly before she glanced over at the small child presently making nice with Lieutenant Nasao before she groaned softly.

Renhai saw that look before, so she suggested, "You need a cuddle buddy right. Well, you could always opt to look after some of these orphaned ferasian children when we get back to B Kayor."

Renhai then noticed the other Ferasian child in the room, the one Leadfoot recovered from the planet. Renhai then continued," In fact, there is one in this room that could use a home right now."

Sokanon nodded her head. "Works for me." she paused as the door opened and in walked a security officer. "Hey mon." he looked at the personnel gathered before him. "We need to be dealin' with these child'ren by getting them outta here." and with that, he promptly grabbed the Caitian child nearby who hissed loudly at him. "Shut it little one, you're-" was as far as he got before Sokanon reacted, she had up to this point been rather scatterbrained but she reacted with violent force, she hissed loudly at the security guard, getting extremely angry to boot.

Both Renhai and Windspirit stared at the security guard with Windspirit commenting. "You might want to get out of here before you get your ass kicked."

"Too late!" Sokanon growled, in a flash she lunged at him, snatching a fistful of his uniform which she tore off in her anger to get closer to him before she hissed loudly at him. He was so frightened that he let the child go and he fell backward into the desk, looking up at vengeful cat-woman with a mouthful of extremely sharp teeth before she took a rather nasty swipe at him with her claws, missing only by millimeters.

"If you 'EVER' touch another child in this sickbay again. I'm going to tear your fucking head off of your shoulders and feast upon your bones!" she roared at him before she snatched another handful of his shirtfront, dragging him to his feet with flames in her eyes. "Do you understand me!" she snarled loudly.

"Y-Yes!" the clearly terrified Ensign got out as Sokanon growled ever so softly at him. Clearly, the female of the species was out in force and so was Sokanon the mother rather than Sokanon the officer.

Renhai then added. "Ensign, get out of here, now, and go patrol the latrines or something."

The ensign staggered to his feet before departing, ultimately he did a swan-dive onto his face upon getting outside of sickbay. Sokanon sighed. "I apologize for my temper," she growled, ever so softly.

Windspirit sighed but didn't comment on the matter. Then Nightstar hobbled out of one of the recovery rooms, his injuries had forced him to use a cane. "Whats going on?, I heard some commotion."

Windspirit shook her head. "Don't worry about it. how are you feeling?."

Nightstar shrugged. "Well, I'm alive and in one piece."

"Good," Windspirit nodded, "I need you to look after yours and Sokanon's children, they are in the room next to yours, as both I and Sokanon need to take care of some things."

Sokanon meanwhile began to calm down when R'Nessa came to a stop next to Sokanon. "You're not going to get into trouble... Because of me are you?"

"I don't know. But do not be troubled. He will not bother you again." Sokanon paused. "Are you okay?" she asked of R'Nessa

"Why did you come to my aid?" R'Nessa, the child inquired.

"Because you deserve better than to be mistreated. He assaulted you and in the Federation, that's a crime and he will be dealt with." the larger Caitian explained. "Do you have quarters assigned yet?"

"No," R'Nessa responded before she shrugged. "Not that it matters. My family is all dead and I am the last of my line."

Sokanon had to repress the urge to cry, she paused a moment. "Once I am free. I can give you a home if you wish it. My family is still a work in progress." she admitted before indicating the three incubators nearby. "My children are sleeping within," she explained. "I always have space at home for one more... If you wish it."

"We've only just met." the small child paused.

"Unimportant," Sokanon responded. "You deserve a home and a family. I can give you that..."

"Okay." R'Nessa smiled up at Sokanon before she gave the older female a hug. Sokanon wasn't expecting it before she hugged the child back a moment later.

Renhai smiled and said to Sokanon, "And there you go, now you have a cute little Ferasian child to cuddle with."

R'Nessa regarded Sokanon. "I hope I didn't cause too much trouble."

"Don't worry about it." Sokanon gently ran her fingers through the small child's fur. "Have a seat on the bed. Let me give you the once over, make sure that all is well and the like." as she lifted her medkit from where she had left it earlier. "It'll be okay. Nobody is going to harm you. Especially while in here." Sokanon smiled. "Anyone who wears medical teal." she indicated her uniform top. "This color is medical and we are the ones who heal others.

"Oh.. okay." and with that, the Caitian child hoisted herself up onto the biobed with ease. Sokanon opened her tricorder before she started her physical. "Mmm.." Sokanon sighed softly as she noticed the long laundry list of old wounds that the Caitian abuse case generally produced. "Okay. Well since you have no legal guardian. I'm going to stick my name in to formally adopt you so I can get you the medical care you need." Sokanon explained. "Windspirit. Can I confer with you a moment?" she inquired. "Nurse?"

"Yessir."

"See to my patient, get her something to eat and drink please, also take a blood sample and send it to tox. Call me overly paranoid if you wish. I want to check her blood against my gut feeling."

The nurse nodded, she knew what Sokanon was concerned about. "Yes, Doctor. Right away."

"Thank you." Sokanon went over to the nearby medical counter. "Windspirit. Refresh my recollection but isn't there something of an epidemic going through the camps?" she inquired.

"Some minor diseases the Ferasians brought with them. "Windspirit affirmed.

"I thought so," Sokanon responded before she indicated R'Nessa with her hand. "She is a child and I can't really legally treat her. I've... never been good with the legal bullshit."

Both Windspirit and Renhai gave Sokanon a perplexed look, with Renhai commenting. "No' you can treat her, there is no law preventing you from doing that."

"Good. I wanted to be sure." Sokanon responded. "Considering I just threatened to murder someone and nobody in here batted an eye at that." the Caitian explained before she turned and then went back over to the child who was sitting, waiting for her. "Okay. I'm going to sort our your issues... So go ahead and lie back for me. and I will operate." Sokanon smiled.

"You need any help with that," Windspirit asked.

Sokanon turned her head. "No.. I should be okay with this. I'll make sure the nurses document everything. Besides this shouldn't take too long. Why don't you get started on selecting who's leaving with the ship and whos remaining.?"
