Daisy entered the suite that belonged to her and Orthos. Edward was asleep in his crib. Orthos was busy in the kitchen. She quietly entered as to not disturb their son. She went to the kitchen where Orthos was toiling.
"Watcha making?" She asked.
Othos regarded his wife. "A large mushroom, cheese and ham omelet.," he responded with a gentle smile.
"That sounds wonderful, you haven't cooked that in a long time," Daisy replied. "Anyways, I have an odd question. You seem to be knowledgeable about Klingons. Is it true that Klingons from the same house have similar crests?"
Orthos regarded his wife. "They do. House Duras is a classic example of this," he explained. "Why do you ask?"
Daisy wasn't ready to explain it to Orthos but since she asked she would try. "The commanding officer of the Klingon vessel claims that we are of the same house. She claims she is my aunt as a matter of fact."
"Mmm." Orthos regarded his young wife who was less than half his age in silence for a moment before he gently and with a flick of his wrist, he flipped the omelet. "Daisy, the question you need to ask yourself is this... is the truth worth knowing... or were you not told because your mother didn't feel you needed to know... I'd be willing to bet that neither Ajax, Ambrosia or Titus neither know or care either..." he paused a moment in silence. "But your mother needs to answer for this... and what does this mean for our children... and me?"
"To be honest, I don't know," Daisy replied.
"Alright.," Orthos responded before he gently squeezed her shoulder. "Talk to your mom and see what she says... We can proceed with things after that.." he paused. "Daisy... There are a couple of things you should know about membership in a Klingon house.." Orthos turned to the stove where he pulled the finished omelet off of the heat before he turned everything off before he gently guided his wife over to the sofa, where he sat down and then he pulled her gently onto his lap. "A couple of things.." he then cleared his throat as he started.
"Like what?" Daisy asked, a little amused. Daisy started to eat her food. "This is rather good. You certainly haven't lost your touch. What is the big deal about Klingon Houses anyways?"
"I anticipated this chat would come up someday so I decided to look into matters... It depends greatly on who's in charge of the house, their opinion towards outworlders and people of mixed ancestry... In short me and you in that order... Now Edward is your son, he'll get in easily. Me... I have to prove worthy... and you are tainted because of your mother leaving in disgrace I assume." Orthis regarded his wife as he spoke, her facial expression changed little while he spoke.
"The officer seemed friendly towards me," Daisy replied. "I got the impression she wanted me to get involved in her house."
"Your aunt was the one who mentioned it to you... either it was a surprise or she thinks highly of your mother... and I assume she is not house head. That is who you must convince of your worthiness to rejoin this house." Orthos sighed. "You also inherited another rather strange gift from your mother... That old blood feud.." he paused. "You and your mother have a lot to discuss..." Orthis then sighed. "That's assuming you wish to talk about it either her... Or skip the talking and go right to you yelling at her.."
"I think Kralasha is the head of House Tanj. They seem to be in a really weak position." Daisy told Orthos. "I don't really know if I can yell at her. I'm still not entirely sure what is going on."
"Well first things first, eat dinner and spend time with Edward.. While you consider exactly what you wish to say to her... I'll be there too for moral support... If... You wish.." While Orthos was married to Daisy, it was still her choice alone if she wanted to consider it, he felt it was more bother than it was worth but that was his opinion on the matter and his opinion could not become her opinion.
Orthos smiled warmly at his wife as he gently placed his hands on her shoulders. "Whatever you decide to do... I will support you?"
Daisy smiled at Orthos. "Thank you but I'm not really sure I have a choice. Edward has a younger sibling on the way and that is the priority."
"I understand... The House of McKnight is expanding and whether or not honor comes to it is up to us.." Orthos explained. "Never doubt that." as his smile widened at her. "So... How are you enjoying being assigned to Watchman?."
"It is a lot quieter. Not as much stress. I do miss all the activity of a ship." Daisy told Orthos.
Orthos gave his wife a soft smile. "I do prefer having you around... It's nice to be a family, all in one place," he responded. "May I recommend however that you ask your mom about what happened in regards to why she fled the empire?... Personally, wife of mine... I think it's time you found out the true story."
"I'll talk to her later tonight. Get the real story from her. I have a feeling my father doesn't know. He isn't the type to ask questions." Daisy told Orthos.
"I will be there when you have that chat with her... If... you wish." Orthos responded. "Considering that your status affects me and Edward too.." before he shifted his gaze down to her abdomen. "And the new little one..." he paused. "If.. you want me there ... that is."
"I'm not sure how she will handle it," Daisy replied. "She kept everything Klingon verboten."
"Don't worry about it. One way or another, we'll find out." Orthos gently kissed her on the lips.
"Thanks, I'll deal with my mother tomorrow. That's our normal day to talk." Daisy told Orthos.
"Alright. Do you want me present?" Orthos inquired.
"Do what you are doing now, continue to support me. Not going to plan anything until I have a talk to my mother." She replied.
"I can do that," Orthos responded with a gentle smile. "You and Edward are in good hands." he grinned at her. "As for this Klingon house issue... Let's let your mom speak for herself... I have a few questions I'd like to ask of her... If, you don't mind... I promise to behave myself." he gave her a rather impish grin as they spoke.
