Mission: Mission 72: T'Would Ring the Bells of Heaven
Location: Various Locations - USS Courageous
Timeline: 1100Hrs - March 25th, 2392

Lieutenant Junior Grade Garry Smithson sometimes liked this job and at other times he outright despised this job, today was shaping up to be the latter of these times when he hated his job. He was on his way to deliver a report to Captain Torilla Yamaguchi who he suspected would like it even less then he himself did.

Smithson reached his destination, he gently tapped the door chime and Torilla bade her guest to enter. "Yes Lieutenant. What is it?" she inquired, to the point and direct.

"Sir. I need to let the bastard of Bremer go."

Yamaguchi paused as all rational thought flew out of her head the way escapes pods fled a doomed ship. "Sit down. Can I get you anything?"

"No sir.. Thank you though... The reason I have to let... him... go is because Colonel Burgoyne had him arrested for uttering threats and conduct unbecoming." he sighed. "Colonel Burgoyne then assaulted him, here are a list of the... mans injuries." as he handed Yamaguchi a PADD.

"All this after the man threatened to rape Colonel Burgoyne's wife to his face. I can only imagine what Lieutenant Pravdin will feel when she finds out about 'that' little detail in this whole sordid affair."

"Yessir... I went to JAG to inquire about charges and they told me no. Colonel Burgoyne is facing an assault charge and the Bastard of Bremer might get off scot free.."

"No he won't." Yamaguchi responded. "Bremer is still facing an assault charge considering what happened to Arumi... I read that little after action report... All of Bremer's escape pods occupants are facing an assault charge from that little affair so.. Bremers still beats out the Colonel who was honestly defending his wife."

"Sir. do not misunderstand me. Had it been Jiao. I would have reacted the same way." Smithson responded. "I don't know if I should be angry about it or grateful that that vile bastard didn't threaten Jiao."

"Jiao." Yamaguchi responded, clearly confused. "Wait... As in Jiao Anderson?"

"Yessir.."

"MMM.." Yamaguchi was clearly surprised as she didn't know that Jiao Anderson was seeing anyone. "Wait a minute... You are the father of her baby..." it was not a question.

"I am, yes.."

"I didn't know." Yamaguchi responded quietly.

"No reason you should sir... I've been keeping that one between Jiao and myself." Smithson admitted quietly. "With respect.. It was nobody elses issue to consider."

"Very wise..." Yamaguchi smiled. "Very well... So.. back to the Bremer issue.." Yamaguchi agreed.

"Yes.. I can kick him out of the brig but his senior leadership will be hostile to him from this point. It might be worth it to remove Bremer from this ship and send him to another ship with Marines. Roanoke maybe or Avalon."

"Actually.. I don't think anyone will want him at this point." Yamaguchi responded evenly before she tapped her combadge. "Yamaguchi to Burgoyne?"

"Go ahead Captain." came the response almost instantly.

"Could you come up here... We're discussing your case and ... Well you should be present since we're talking about you."

"I'm on my way Captain." and with that the com system buzzed at them once, indicating it had been disconnected, a few minutes later the door beeped and Yamaguchi bade Burgoyne enter her office, she indicated a chair and as he sat down he raised his hand. "No, nothing for me thank you."

Smithson turned to Burgoyne as he brought the older man up to speed on recent events. "In short, I can't nail him for this because you smacked him."

"Thats absurd." Burgoyne responded. "The helped assault a member of an allied nation state before my incident... Which was provoked with him threatening my wife."

Smithson nodded. "Like I was saying to the skipper. If it were Jiao.. I'd have acted the same way.. However.. You wanted me to arrest him for uttering threats and conduct unbecoming.."

"I know." Burgoyne responded. "Fine... But I will be watching him and I'll be informing my guys to do likewise."

Yamaguchi nodded. "Garry... This guy Bremer sounds like he is more trouble then he is worth."

Before Smithson could say anything, Burgoyne beat him to it. "Oh he is... The paperwork to chapter him out I know has been started by Lt Colonel Jackson but for reasons that are not clear to me, He has been able to avoid any serious problems."

Smithson slid the PADD in his hands across to Burgoyne. "That.. might explain it.. Be's been serving on Starbase Four Hundred for the last several years... being protected by Commodore Michael Bremer."

"Ahh... figures." Burgoyne responded in disgust. "But we've had a lot of Bremers come into this battlegroup and have exited it as corpses... Why were they not protected.?"

Yamaguchi for her part, simply shrugged her shoulders. "Who knows. Could be a family feud."

"Who knows.. who cares." Burgoyne responded. "That man deserves to remain in the brig and serve a full sentence for what he did..."

"Yes Colonel. I agree." Smithson responded. "The problem is.. I can't get him... without getting you too."

"Because I smashed his nose flat.. for his threat." Burgoyne said in a flat tone.

"Yes Colonel. He only ended up here because Colonel Jackson didn['t want him and I highly suspect nobody else will either." Burgoyne responded. "But he remains in your brig to serve his sentence for his threat against my wife and conduct unbecoming."

Smithson didn't argue as he had no need. "I checked the length of sentences... Two weeks is the longest I can hold him." he commented.

"Good." Burgoyne responded. "I'm going to stick two reprimands into his file.. What about the Akurian assault charge?"

At this, Smithson finally smiled. "Oh.. That is unrelated to your case but I can nail him to the wall for that one, that also will be the one that ends his career in the Marine Corps... I will however need for you to sign off on the documentation." as he handed the Colonel a PADD.

Burgoyne accepted the PADD, he quickly skimmed through it before he took a moment to reread what he had just seen, the entire event took him a few minutes before he signed off on it. "Proceed with this case... I'll let mine go... But you should know that if he carries out his threat or tries to carry out his threat then... Well I'll leave the rest unsaid."

"Thats fine with me Colonel." Smithson responded as Yamaguchi added. "If he is actually stupid enough to carry out that threat ... Well.. I'll deal with him myself."

Burgoyne nodded. "Alright then... If there is nothing else?"

"Nope, thats it." Smithson responded. "Thanks for coming down Colonel." and with that the meeting ended.
