Return of the Nuch

Posted on Fri Mar 6th, 2020 @ 8:41pm by Lieutenant Commander Ajal Yamaguchi & Lieutenant Commander Monique Deepshadow

Mission: Mission 67: In The Service of Life and the Living
Location: IKS Hurgh maS/ Watchman Station
Timeline: 1300Hrs - March 3rd, 2392

The IKS Hurgh maS moved through the debris field to find a suitable target. The ship and crew are were on a routine training exercise. Some of the ship's systems had to be repaired after combat operations. The crew was out to make sure the vessel was running up to performance.

"Captain," Ktala alerted Kralasha, "There is the hull of an old freighter up ahead. It looks largely intact."

"That would be a suitable target." She replied to her chief navigator. "Weapons, lock onto that target."

"Yes, Captain." Rog'n replied.

"We are within range of weapons." Ktala announced.

"Weapons are ready." Rog'n replied.

"Fire at your discretion. " Kralasha told him.

"Yes, Captain. Firing Disruptors." Rog'n told the bridge crew. He worked the controls but nothing seemed to happen.

K'taro went over to the weapons station. "Is there an issue?" He calmly asked.

Frustration was evident on Rog'n's face. "I cannot get the weapons to fire."

"Did you do a functions check?" K'taro asked.

"Yes, I personally inspected the weapons a few hours ago." Rog'n explained.

"Let me examine your station." K'taro told Rog'n. The senior officer then went through the station's database. "The power distribution is unequal. That is an engine problem and not with the weapons."

"What is the issue?" Kralasha asked in a loud but calm voice.

"The engines are giving us enough power." K'taro replied.

"Engineering, this is the Captain." Kralasha stated over the comm. There was no reply. "The comm system lacks power." Kralasha said in frustration. It was just then that the lights on the bridge went out and then turned back on again.

"I have had enough. K'taro, you have the bridge." Kralasha told her first officer.

"Captain, please allow me. You should stay on the bridge." K'taro requested her.

Kralasha thought for a second and then finally gave K'taro a nod. He left the bridge followed by Korg.

The two arrived at the bridge to find the place in a state of bedlam. Engineering tech were all over the place running system checks. The chief engineer, B'kiya, was on the sitting on the deck looking over a PaDD. She was very dejected.

"Lagh!" K'taro announced his presence. "What is going on here?"

B'kiya stood up. "I am not sure. We have the right components, They are in the right locations, the y are all operational, and yet they aren't working properly."

K'taro was ready to reprimand his chief engineer when he remembered that she had only joined the ship a few weeks before it left the Empire and House H'ruS. B'kiya had only received her commission a week before that and the Hurgh maS was her first duty station.

"First off, calm your crew down." K'taro told her. "Second, if the comm is not working send a runner up to the bridge so we know what is happening down here."

B'kiya nodded her head. "Yes, La'."

"I will return to the bridge and confer with the Captain. We will use hand held communicator's to talk." K'taro told her before he and left. Korg stayed behind to help bring order to the engine room.

After K'taro returned to the bridge he told Kralasha what was going on. "You were right not to scold her." She told him. "The chief engineer before her was very talented. He is gone now."

"So what do we do?" K'taro asked.

"We ask Star Fleet if they have any engineers that understand Klingon power systems."

"I doubt they would admit to that." K'taro told her.

"We shall see." Kralasha replied. "Gedlr, are communications working?"

"I would need to reroute power from the sensors to get them to work." He responded.

"Do it and hail Star Fleet IFO." She told him. Gedlr then informed her that the channel was open. "This is Hurgh maS to Admiral Yamaguchi, are you there?"

Lieutenant Toby Greenfield was the general secretary for Admiral April Yamaguchi, she tapped the display before her as she forwarded the call to her boss who was presently sitting in her office that she was borrowing while she was living here on this old Nor class starbase.

Yamaguchi sat up as she gently rubbed her belly. "Mommy is needed kids.." she muttered to herself before she tapped the display. "Yamaguchi here. What is it Captain?" she inquired bluntly. Being subtle was a waste of time with a Klingon.

"Admiral, I have an odd favor to ask." Kralasha reluctantly told Yamaguchi. "We have the need of an engineer who knows about Klingon engines, preferably one that understands Birds of Prey. That is, if you have such an individual?"

April narrowed her eyes as she turned her attention to the wall display. "Stand by Captain." she commented. "Let me look for you." before she called up the master display. "Lets see... I have two Klingons .... Commander Noq't and Lieutenant Ajal. Both are here at B Kayor."

There was a moment of silence. "That would be excellent Admiral, my thanks."

April nodded. "Of course Captain before she sent a note to the two officers in question as well as their various skippers so there were no misunderstandings.

Ten minutes later, Ajal was seated in her office as she finished the last of her paperwork as the request came through to her. Ajal blinked as she read it slowly. She tapped her combadge before she went to work preparing for this task.

Meanwhile over on the Dreamcrusher. Lieutenant Deepshadow was busy checking her equipment on the master table in the heart of Main Engineering. It wasn't in use at the present time as she closed the kit while Noq't came around the corner. "Something up skipper?" the svelte woman asked her boss.

"Yes. Another engineer, you, and I are to go over and help repair a Klingon vessel." Noq't told her.

Deepshadow nodded. "Alright.." she responded as she secured her gear. "You ready for this?" she inquired softly.

"Yes, of course." Nq't replied. "If it was not for me the Hurgh maS would still be floating around that Klingon boneyard."

"I hope the Kingons behave with you.." Deepshadow whispered. "Otherwise they will answer to me."

Noq't laughed. "I am sure they are quaking in their boots. We are taking a shuttle and Ajal will pilot the craft. She needs the flying time. I would request that you assist her."

Deepshadow regarded Noq't. "You forget what I do in my spare time." the good looking female responded. "Since meeting you... I've decided to bulk up my combat training.." she then smiled. "Come on skipper. Lets go show these girly men how the magic works.." and with that she turned and out the door she went.

Several minutes later the three of them were standing before a shuttle.
Lieutenant Ajal was waiting patiently with her kit in hand and a pack on her back, she also wore a dak'tag on her belt and armored boots. Deepshadow regarded her. "So your coming with?"

"I am indeed.." she answered the human. "Hello Commander." she addressed Noq't politely.

"Hello Ajal. I trust all is well with you?" He asked.

Ajal nodded her head. "I'm doing well." she responded. "Are you two prepared to go over to the... ship?" she inquired, hesitating slightly when she came to say the ships name.

"Yes, we are. Depart when you are ready." Noq't told her.

"By your command, my master." Ajal responded before she moved into the shuttle, she then sat down in the pilot's chair while she smiled, she was busy undressing Monique Deepshadow with her eyes and it was clear she liked the body she was seeing before her. "Right... flight check is... good.." as she continued to admire the female from afar as the Klingon female sealed the aft hatch and began the takeoff sequence. It was slow and a little unsteady due to her lack of experience.

"Then take us to the Hurgh maS please." Noq't told her.

"We are on our way." and with that Ajal turned back to her display before her as she drove the shuttle out of the Hanger bay of the Dreamcrusher before she moved out towards where the Hurgh'maS was located. "So... Lieutenant... Have you ever been aboard a Klingon ship before?"

"No.." Deepshadow answered.

"The men will want you. They will poke, prod and paw you.. so expect that.." Ajal sighed softly. "Me.. they will look down on me.. because they saw me as weak and Noq't here. well they-"

"Will learn to behave... or I will cram my boot up someone's backside." Deepshadow growled softly.

Ajal was taken aback, the surprise on her face was priceless before she turned to Noq't. "Did I miss something?"

Noq't sighed "No, you did not."

Ajal held her silence as she flew the shuttle.

Meanwhile in the shuttle bay of the Hurgh maS Kralasha stood waiting. She was flanked by K'taro and B'kiya. "You mean to tell me that Nuch is coming aboard to work on our ship?" K'taro asked.

"You should know better than to underestimate him, K'taro." Kralasha replied. "He is also my guest, any slight aimed at him will all be a personal slight at me. Understand?"

"Yes Captain." K'taro replied.

The shuttle slowly entered the bay and landed.

Ajal secured the shuttle before she opened the aft hatch, she then rose to her feet as she smiled at the Lieutenant. "I almost hope you're not spoken for Lieutenant." as she walked past the lovely looking female who by her reckoning was almost thirty pounds heavier and half a foot taller then Autumn Yamaguchi. "I will have you... later.."

Deepshadow regarded the taller and larger Klingon female. "Is she serious?" she inquired of Noq't.

"She is Klingon. We are not known for our spurious behavior." Noq't told her.

Deepshadow swallowed as she paused. "Umm.. Okay." as she followed Noq't out the door.

Ajal was waiting outside as she licked her lips while she regarded Deepshadow before she turned her attention to the other Klingons present.

Deepshadow was suddenly very nervous all of a sudden before she suddenly realized that Ajal was a lesbian.

Kralasha tried to hold back a smile as she saw Noq't but failed. "Commander Noq't, it is good to see you. And Ajal, you have done well."

Ajal nodded. "Hello Captain. You honor us with your words." she responded with a gentle smile.

Deepshadow held her silence but she noted the looks that Noq't was getting, the Klingons regarded him as something beneath them, that much was clear to her.

"This is my First Officer, la' K'taro. He will assist you." Kralasha told them. "And this is our new Chief Engineer, lagh B'kiya. She is eager to learn from you." The look on B'kiya's face said she was ashamed to be present.

"My Thanks Captain. We will begin as soon as possible." Noq't told them.

Deepshadow followed the others out the door and into the ship proper, Ajal and Noq't were before her as she felt a hand gently run itself over her ass, she turned to find herself with a rather large looking Klingon. "You want something?" she growled.

"You." he answered with a smile.

Deepshadow rolled her eyes. "Beat it jackass... I got work to do." and with that she turned and went back to following the others.

The part of four Klingons and one Human made it to the engine room. Noq't looked at K'taro. "Are you our minder?"

"No, the Captain said I could learn something from your leadership." K'taro said dismissively.

Noq't just smiled. "We will begin." He turned to B'kiya. "So what is wrong with the engines?"

"We replaced several parts and the engine no longer functions properly." She replied.

"Very well, we will run a diagnostic." Noq't told her. He then pulled out a tricorder and started run tests.

Several of the Klingons were looking at Monique Deepshadow like she was a barrel of bloodwine and they were all thirsty. Ajal noticed. "Go away fools!." she growled. "Back to work!" Ajal paused. "NOW!" she barked loudly.

The various Klingons scattered as Deepshadow placed her kit on the table before her that was not in use at the present time. "Very well... Lets see.." she commented as she drew her tricorder.

A younger Klingon came over to her, he gave her the once over. "You are very impressive. Are all Starfleet Engineers so?"

"No." Deepshadow answered as her eyes began to slow a soft orange, her various unique abilities coming out as she called up a display of the ships database. "Commander. I'm going to give the navigational array the once over..." she called over to Noq't.

"The once over... Umm how?" One of the Klingons inquired

"Simple boy.." Deepshadow pulled over a chair as she began to read. "I'll need to program code, line by line.." and with that she seemed to go into a trance-like state as she read the code on the screen. "Who wrote this?" she muttered. "Whoever did didn't scrub the code for errors.."

"I am thinking it is something more simple." Noq't stated. "This vessel was built before the Khitomer Accords. The engine was built after the Dominion War. It runs on a lot more power. There is too much noise over the lines and the engines and ship's systems need to resonate."

Monique turned her head as she rattled something extremely technical off to one of the engineers.

"Wait.. What?!"

"Your ships computer program was not designed for the engines in question here." Deepshadow explained. "We have to determine the exact variance of the power signatures that the engines need to use.. however the ship itself is far too old to make this work." before she turned back. "It also doesn't help that the computer program wasn't designed with your new engines in mind.."

Ajal smiled as one of the Klingons muttered something to the other guy near him. "Guys... she's not yours.."

"What!" a Klingon demanded of Ajal. "She's yours.. isn't she.. I challenge you for her.!"

"No." Ajal responded. "Work first... sex later.... and I doubt you are Lieutenant Deepshadows type."

"No he is not." Deepshadow responded darkly. "Stop distracting me unless you want me to move an error into the ships reactor..." she growled. "stop pestering me, you are worse then my boss... and he'd demanding enough."

"Demanding in bed... I'll bet-Ooof." the young Klingon responded before Ajal simply hauled off and belted him one with the back of her fist. "Commander..." she shouted to K'taro. "Could you deal with this guy?" she inquired. "I do not wish to end his life for being a punk."

K'taro pinned the wayward Klingon to the wall of the engine room. "You fool, these people are here as our guests and you disrespect them. Are assigned to quarters until further notice and you will be dealt with."

Silence reigned as Monique Deepshadow was able to establish a mental link to the ships computer core. "Now I can rebuild the system.." she turned to a nearby engineer who wasn't going anything. "You, help me with this... double check what I do and make sure I don't break anything."

The man nodded his compliance and rather then argue, he came over and sat down next to her. "Alright. I'm going to do this subroutine by subroutine... Make sure you keep up okay.... if you need more time to check, tell me okay."

"Yes Lieutenant." the young man responded as she went to work, a moment later he began checking her work, she worked at a truly amazing speed but he had no idea of how she was able to do this.
"How do you do this?"

"Its a long story... I'll tell you after okay?"

"Of course, apologies Lieutenant."

Monique nodded in response as she carried on with her work, doing it all quite litteraly in her head but then Monique never claimed to be ordinary especially after merging with an alien artificial intelligence, the word that species used for their name translated as 'Forerunner.'

Ajal meanwhile was assisting Nog't with his work. "The Lieutenant seems a little... off.." she commented to Nog't about Deepshadow.

"This is the Federation." Noq't smiled. "I would be concerned if she was not unusual. Besides, it is her skill as an engineer that counts. She, like you, is very good at her job despite not being a perfect fit for her surroundings." Noq't knew about Deepshadow's past but didn't think it was his place to tell anyone else, not even a fellow Klingon whom he trusted.

Ajal looked even more confused. "She's sitting there with her eyes half closed muttering incoherently... Also he eyes changed color from blue to orange." the larger female explained. "Now I know Autumn does not have those abilities and she is an augment."

"If you are that curious, why don't you just ask her?" Noq't queried. "Not here of course but maybe on the return trip?"

Ajal nodded her head. "I will do so." she responded.

Meanwhile the person of their conversation was busy rebuilding the computer core's systems at the speed of thought, the young lagh was looking somewhat overwhelmed as he checked the systems. "Lieutenant, a moment please?"

Deepshadow blinked as she finished the last system and then she stopped. "Mmm.." as she came back to herself. "Trouble.?"

"Just trying to keep up." the Lagh responded.

Deepshadow's eyes faded from their hostile orange back to blue while she also had caught the attention of most of the Klingons in the room.

Noq't looked at the other Klingons in the engine room. "Yes, she is odd even by Star Fleet standards." Noq't addressed them in Klingon. "Don't ask me what she is doing. I'm not sure I fully understand. For that matter neither do Star Fleet engineers. That is why Imperial Intelligence has such issues stealing their technology." There was some laughter from the Klingon crew. Noq't was watching Deepshadow with growing concern.

Ajal noted the laughter. "Ungrateful fools." she growled.

Deepshadow grunted in extreme annoyance when suddenly the fire alarm began to scream, its loud din affecting everyone in the engine room.

Three Klingons were doused with a large spray of fire retardant foam. "Gah!. What is this!"

"Its fire retardant foam you imbecile." Deepshadow commented.

The first Klingon who got doused snarled something as he drew his dagger, he went over to Deepshadow before he grabbed her by the shoulder, suddenly the intruder alert system activated and the Klingon warrior was transported away. "Do you want this computer to work... or not?" Deepshadow snarled. "Stop distracting me and let me work.."

"You're not even going anything!" came the response.

"Oh really?." Deepshadow responded before she pointed at him with her left hand when he too was teleported away. "They are both in your ships brig." she said to K'taro who was nearby. "I am trying to clean out your ships computer core of errors and bugs... of which there are a lot of them..." she explained. "Now... I will finish this work somewhere where I can be left alone to work... you will assist me."

"La'?" the Lagh inquired of K'taro.

K'taro cleared out the Klingon crew with the exception of B'kiya. Noq't looked at B'kiya, "Where are your veterans? Govl, Korokull, Mayveren know how to fix these engines and would have kept the rest inline. They should be controlling your new technicians and giving them instructions?"

"Govl was transferred to another vessel. Korokull got into a fight with members of a rival house and was found later with his throat slit. Mayveren was killed during the raid on the House Tevekit compound." B'kiya told Noq't.

"That explains a lot." Noq't replied. "Any good engine room runs on skilled NCOs. You have none of them."

Deepshadow nodded to the Lagh. "I finished with the Engineering computer. go ahead and check it for me.." and with that she rose to her feet, the orange look in her eyes gave her a truly evil look to her, but it slowly faded back to blue. "Commander. I finished checking the Engineering computer system... It was full of glitches, holes and other various issues.." she turned to the smaller female. "Sir.. Your computer should run a lot more smoothly now... assuming I did my job right."

Ajal closed her tricorder before she too made her way over. "Most of your issues are in the power distribution net." she explained. "I've already started repairing them."

"Assuming?" the Klingon Chief Engineer responded to Deepshadow's statement.

"Its Klingon... Qo' yIDaQo' Hol laH DaH pejatlh DaH." Deepshadow rattled off the Klingon words as easily as if she was speaking english. "Don't worry I can now speak your language well." the translator translated it back into english before she went back to work.
