Mission:
Mission 66: Double Helix
Location: Tuanko Colony - Planet surface - Tienn Homestead
Timeline: 1600Hrs Local Time - Feb 21st, 2392
The small Away team was heading to what was marked as the 'Pettar Farmstead'. Lieutenant junior grade Tienn Iteela narrowed her eyes as she thought of the name. A ship Captain during the Dominion War and he was known for brute force tactics that allowed him to overpower much stronger foes, usually at the cost of much of his ordinance stocks, the excuses cited was often. 'Ordinance is meant to be used.' That was often the end of the argument as far as Pettar was concerned.
"Wait, hold it... Isn't this guy supposed to be dead?" Tienn Iteela inquired of the other three members of the away team.
Commander Franklin Davis, responded with mild amusement. "He seems alive enough to me Miss Tienn. I wouldn't worry about it."
Tienn sighed as the other Medic, an Andorian Shen named Tejanis chuckled softly. "You really dislike this guy..."
"Not as much as you'd think... Just because he's Cardassian and I'm Bajoran doesn't mean I hate all Cardassians..." Tienn responded.
Lieutenant JG Michael Emerson simply shrugged his massive shoulders. "Why worry about it. Besides we have a bug to treat... What say we focus our efforts there and let the rest tend to itself."
Tienn found she had no good answer to that statement so she resolved to let the matter drop. Her siblings were back in town. Major Tienn Nerra was handing the infrastructure issues with her usual zeal and Ezas was in the hospital helping out with their caseload. Kerris was in town helping with the policing issues that were popping up while Iteela was out here doing checks on the various farmsteads.
This one would be her forth and the virus to her was coming across like a mild case of the Cardooine Chills, except it mutated much after then the average so it was something totally new to this world, it also had a much smaller population to focus its efforts on and thus it was mutating into something totally new. Tienn Ezas and the others were worried that it might undergo an escalation period where it mutated into something deadly but so far up to this point it hadn't done anything of the sort, it seemed to prefer to remain benign rather then turn malignant.
While the four of them walked slowly down the country road heading to the farm. Tienn took some time to remove her uniform jacket as she decided to simply give in to impulse and enjoy the heat, as she felt it warm her, she let out a soft sigh. "Ahh.... This weather is wonderful."
"Heh heh." Michael Emerson smiled as he regarded the smaller woman before him. "Speak for yourself.... I find this weather a touch too cold.."
The Andorian huffed at him, her lips curled downward in disgust. "What hell are you from?"
"I am from a desert... the Sahara on Earth to be more specific... I assume you're from the northern polar wastes of Andoria?"
Disgust gave way to astonishment. "How did you know?"
"Just a lucky guess."
Franklin smiled in amusement at the banter going back and forth, he was a firm believer in having fun while you worked and you could do and say whatever you liked within reason and so long as it didn't interfere with your work. "We're almost here guys." he said quietly.
Tienn noticed children playing as she lifted the sniper scope she held in her left hand as she looked at them before catching sight of an older Bajoran woman who's face she instantly recognized. "Oh.... Prophets.." she whispered as she skidded to a stop, causing Emerson to crash into her, he quickly grabbed her to steady her. "Sorry.."
"My fault." Iteela whispered.
"What is it... you look like you've seen a ghost.."
"I have... I have lost relatives.." Iteela responded.
Davis instantly knew he had a situation on his hands. "You gonna be okay with this?"
"Yes." Iteela responded. "I still my work to do sir... I will be fine... Besides.. I have long waited for this day ever since I was a little girl."
"Alright... If you're sure... if not then let me know and I'll call in another Doctor alright?" Davis responded with a smile.
"Yessir, thank you." Iteela responded, she wanted to give him a hug but starfleet discipline held her firmly rooted tot he spot where she was standing. Tienn let out a soft sigh before she nodded, before she slipped on her jacket again as she spotted a female coming out to greet them. Tienn watched her approach, quickly realizing that what she assumed was a teenager was in fact a very old woman, this was in fact her mother as the realization went through her mind, the two locked eyes with each other as the two Tienn's instantly recognized each other.
"We must talk." Tienn Iteela said quietly.
"Yes... It seems we must." Tienn Jaina agreed with a nod of her head.
Franklin was confused as was Emerson and Tejanis, the looks on their faces said as much. "So... you two do know each other?". Emerson asked.
"You could say that." Iteela responded. "This is indeed my mother." the shock was beginning to already wear off as the smaller Bajoran woman simply shunted it aside with ruthless force. "Anyway,... we are here to treat your chills cases." Davis smiled at the older woman. "We won't be here too long and we promise not to cause too much disruption."
"Oh... well... um.... this way." Jaina responded as she opened the gate to let them in and onto her property, she couldn't take her eyes off of the smaller Bajoran female who claimed to be her daughter. She had believed that her entire family had been slaughtered by the Cardassians. "How did you know where I was?"
"I didn't..." Iteela responded. "The farmstead is listed under your... husbands name I assume?"
"Yes... I thought you had been murdered by the Cardassians..." Jaina responded.
"No. You were lied to." Iteela responded. "Ezas, Kerris, Kol... We're all alive and well... many of us with families of our own..." she paused. "Where have you been?" Iteela almost demanded.
Jaina knew the harsh question would come sooner rather then later as a burly Cardassian male approached. "Whats going on?" the man demanded. Franklin assumed that this was her husband but Emerson answered in flawless Bajoran. "We're here to treat your chills cases, we intend no disruption sir."
"Why are you harassing my mother." the Cardassian growled at Tienn Iteela who was smaller then he himself was. "Answer me!" he almost snarled.
"I am fine... there has been no trouble." Jaina assured her son.
Iteela paused as she regarded her younger half brother. "It is a shame we must meet under such circumstances." she responded in the same bajoran dialect as his.
"Who are you?"
"Well... I am your older sister. From your mothers first marriage."
"You're lying!" Corat's gaze didn't waver in the least.
Iteela turned to Davis and Emerson. "You guys carry on, This is a family affair... No need to take up all of your time with me and mine." she turned back to the larger male Cardassian who had her mothers eyes. "No.. I am not lying to you... and I can prove it."
Corat regarded Iteela, he could see the resemblance. "How."
"I'm a Doctor... Lying is not in my nature...." she indicated Jaina. "I was raised better then that... as I suspect you and your siblings were too."
Corat regarded her with a measure of distrust. "You've come to take mother away from me... from my family."
"No.." Iteela responded. "I will do no such thing... But explanations will have to be made and actions accounted for... " as she turned to Jaina. "Dad and my siblings will need to be told.... Why...." she stopped. "You disappeared from Bajor back around Twenty three sixty seven.."
Jaina sighed softly. "I was told... you all had died at the hands of the Cardassian seventh order as they did their security crackdown."
Iteela regarded the Cardassian before her. "Lets go inside so we can talk..."
"Yes... Lets do that." the older Cardassian adult responded. "We got a lot to talk about... and I owe you an explanation if nothing else.."
