The Battle of the Abel System

Posted on Fri Mar 6th, 2020 @ 4:18pm by Fleet Admiral Dominique Jes-Tereth

Mission: Mission 65: And Death Rained Down
Location: The Abel System
Timeline: 1600Hrs - February 20th, 2392

Captain Torlek was seated in the bridge of the Vorcha class ship that he commanded, he smiled as he regarded the display in front of him, it showcased the time he had before the battle would be joined and the distance from him and the system in question.

If there was one truism that had served Captain Torlek well during his two decades of service to the Empire from a young teenager, it was that paranoia sometimes paid for itself many times over, one could never count upon the support of anyone in times of trouble, especially if they were not aligned with your house. Also allegiances shifted, loyalties could be traded and bought and some people were just worthless to begin with.

You could trust an enemy to act against you but only a friend can betray you.. Torlek thought to himself. "Gunner ... report?" he turned his attention back to where it belonged, on the battle to come.

Tor'hak nodded his head. "I'm reading three birds of prey orbiting the seventh planet, along with a Negh'var."

"That... will be our target then." Torlek commented. "Com, hail our group. tell them to take the Negh'var and its group.. kill the birds of prey but capture the Negh'var intact..."

"Right away sir." came the response.

Torlek as he watched the ships assigned to him uncloak and begin their attacks, one of the Birds of prey simply shattered as it didn't even have its shields up, the second took three hits and exploded like a piece of overripe fruit being hurled at a bulkhead wall.

"Decloak, Beam over our assault troops and stifle their pleas for help." Torlek ordered with a dark grin on his face.

The assault troops beamed over to the Negh'var as then began gunning down everyone in sight, the screams of the dying echoed down the hallways of the warship that was being boarded, over the screeches of weapons fire.

Torlek waited patiently while his troops did their thing. "Status?" he inquired after a few minutes.

"Sir. our teams report they have the captured Negh'var under their full control."

"Order our escorts to form up and then cloak... Have the Negh'var proceed with the plan." Torlek smiled as the lights dimmed from white to a dark red, which he honestly prefered.

The ships began moving in on their ultimate target, the battlestation which protected several sets of drydock scaffoldings, making up a large shipyard, every single drdock scaffolding was occupied, a sign that L'gran was not ready for a battle.

The Negh'var was cleared access to dock, moments later she slipped into the battlestation but as the doors closed behind her, the Negh'var suddenly exploded like a massive firework, there was no warning as
Torlek cursed loudly. "Decloak and open fire on the battlestation. Order all escorts to break and attack." Torlek sighed. "Shit!" he added a moment later.

The four ships dropped their cloaks, before they began spamming their torpedoes, one of them took a hit from the rather uncoordinated fire from the battlestation but suffered little damage other then to their pride as the ordinance in flight began crashing into everything in their path, causing massive explosions, soon it was a melee with ships, parts of ships, parts of docking scaffolds and and the like began floating around the battle space.

Torlek was not smiling now, not was he impressed as he watched one of his escorts suicide-ram the base in the area where her fusion reactors were located, this finished off the starbase as its fusion reactors finally melted down and detonated.

L'gran's forces had reacted the best that they could and were now fighting to drive off the three damaged enemy warships. K'porak was the first to withdraw into cloak as she withdrew, followed by Jaj'hek and Torlek together, their mission was still a sucess, however all three ships had been badly damaged. Torlek was sure that all three were not worth saving considering the damage reports he had been getting and was still collecting. "Execute repair plan alpha."

"Right away sir." his first officer responded, like he was again reading from a script.
