Mission:
Mission 53: Last March of the Enterprise-E
Location: Various Locations - USS Roanoke
Timeline: 0830Hrs - January 14th - 2392
Warrant Officer Rachael Yamaguchi sighed softly as she finished the paperwork she was working on for the last thirty minutes and she only had the one last piece before she figured she would go on leave because she had been relieved of her work, she still had responsibilities and she would see them completed before leaving.
She heard the door open but she ignored it as she continued typing.
Wukari looked at Rachael and sighed. "Rachael, you are supposed to be taking the week off, what are you doing here."
"I had paperwork to finish." Ripcord responded evenly. "I'm almost finished... another ten minutes and I'll be done and gone."
Wukari looked at the paper saying. "that report is not due until the end of the month, it can wait."
Rachael paused, she had not expected this comment from Wukari. "Oh... well I wanted to get it done... so I could not worry about."
Wukari shook her head, "I sent you on leave specifically so you wouldn't have to worry about anything going on here," She then tapped her combadge saying. "Wukari to Saki, can you come get your mother, she is trying to skip out on her leave time."
A soft sigh could be heard over the com system. "Alright... I'm on my way.." the child responded quietly before the com went quiet. A few minutes went by as someone from the security checkpoint called. "Hey Wukari... I got a kid here, says she's here because you called her... Could you come collect her please?"
"I was called here and you won't let me through.." Saki's voice came over the com system. "Great system here!"
Wukari addressed Security. "Go ahead and let her through, I did call for her."
"Okay." there was a pause. "Go on... Do you know the way?"
"I do." Saki responded politely. "I've been here before." she added.
"Alright. Go on then..."
Saki started off down the hallway before she came to the main hanger area, she smiled as he greeting an old friend as she inhaled the scent of a working flight deck, then she made sure to pay attention to all the warning signs as a Massive being wearing the uniform of a flight deck Chief regarded her. "Who're you?"
"I'm Saki Yamaguchi... Who are you?"
"I'm Tirion Fordring." the massive being came over to her. "You are a little young to be here by yourself... Where are you heading and I'll get you there."
"I'm looking for my mom, I'm told she was here when she shouldn't be here."
"Ahh... Right this way... She's in Forth Squadron's ready room... I will escort you there young lady..."
Saki walked beside the massive man who was easily ten times her size and several dozen times her mass. "What do you do here?"
"I ensure this place runs like clockwork. Its a pain in the ass at times but I enjoy my work... Besides the flight deck is easily the most dangerous place on ship.. You don't wanna be fooling around here... you can easily get killed here."
"I know... I saw one of the pilots get killed once... Fighter crushed him on landing.."
Fordring nodded. "Olin Garn was the man's name... He was a good man, wrong place at the wrong time... cost me a decent pilot too.." he sighed as they approached their destination. "Hey Wukari.. Ahh Rachael... I found this young lady as she entered the hanger bay.."
"Mom." Saki looked downright angry. "What...Are... You... Doing!!!" the nine year old took care to enunciate her words with care. "We're supposed to be going on vacation... You are here."
"I got work to do... It won't take me long.." Rachael responded evenly.
"Mom.... Do you know what 'Relieved of duty even means!" the small child inquired. "I mean... do you?"
"It means I'm grounded." Rachael responded. "It also means I'm in trouble."
"No... It means you have no responsibilities because you have been relieved of the burden of them." Saki explained with patience. "Even Hakaya is worried about you."
"Alright... just five-"
"No." Saki responded bluntly. "I mean it mom.. You are trying everyone's patience." as the nine year old took the PADD out of her mom's hands before she read it. "Mom... What is this.... I can't read it." as she handed it off to Wukari. "What does all that mean?"
Wukari took the padd saying, "its just a flight report and one that is not even due until the end of the month."
Saki sighed as she regarded her mother. "And thank you for proving my point." she responded. "Can we go home now?"
Wukari nodded. "Yes, please, go home now and go on your vacation, the report can wait a week."
Saki reached out with her hands, grasping her mothers hands, she tugged the much larger woman out of her chair. "Come on mom... Lets go.!" the nine year old complained.
Rachael went with her in silence.
