The dinner was eaten and there was quiet which had reigned as everyone had eaten. Selendis smiled as she tried not to burp or belch as she honestly felt like she had put on twenty pounds, she gently wiped her mouth with a napkin as she finished the last mouthful. "Kolar, if you decide you want something else, I'll hire you as a personal chef. That meal was amazing."
"I think you have another lifelong fan dad," Atin commented, as a joke.
"Mmm. Oh yes." Selendis grinned. "Well.. what can I say. It was great." the younger female responded.
"Mmmm." Khatami smiled. "My compliments to the chief. Or should I say, our compliments to the Chef." Khatami smiled as she decided now was a good time for the reveal as she looked down at her own abdomen where her newest child as starting to develop inside of her.
"Wait. You're pregnant.?" Alyssa smiled.
"I am. This one, however, will be my last." Khatami answered with a smile. "Mogh and I haven't discussed names or which gender we prefer this baby to be."
Selendis opened her mouth and tossed in. "That's alright. I'm sure Atin and I will manage with ours." she paused. "Well. When we find out the gender."
Kolar regarded her as he smiled. "I don't think you meant to drop it like that, did you?"
Selendis was presently blushing a deep chocolate. "Well..ummm no."
"Do not worry about it. You are family and if we can assist you, let us know."
"Thank you, Kolar." Selendis smiled at him. "I was unsure of what you guys would think. Atin told me to not worry about things."
"Well, he was right," Alyssa answered with a gentle grin. "Well, most of the time anyway." as she gave her middle child a rather evil grin.
Atin shrugged as if it didn't bother him. "Well mom, what can I say?. You guys told me to go out and find myself what I considered the perfect female for me," he commented as he gently rubbed Selendis's shoulder with his hand. "Well. I found her," he added.
"Good," Kolar answered bluntly. "You found someone who makes you feel complete. Does Selendis here make you happy?" he inquired bluntly.
Selendis raised an eyebrow, she had not expected Kolar to be so blunt on the subject but she was finding out that she was appreciating his point of view as he tended to speak his mind and that was something she respected, while she might not have liked it, she did respect him for it.
Atin nodded. "She does. I could share stories..." he added.
"Tell them how we met," Selendis commented with a smile.
"No you tell them, you tell it better?" Atin commented with a smile.
"Oh No." Selendis gave him a rather evil grin. "You brought it up."
"Alright." Atin paused as he recalled the event. "I was having dinner when this young woman comes up to me, she doesn't like me, that I could tell easily." he smiled as he recalled the story. "She was curious as to why a Klingon was living in the Federation. I told her that I was not fully Klingon, that alone got her interest and we arranged to meet later, she wanted to get to know me a little better... We both showed up and one thing led to another." Atin commented. "Our relationship started there. This was while we were both on Deneva, for training."
"I assume things got interesting quickly?" Mogh inquired.
"It wasn't really planned," Selendis admitted. "I was curious about Atin, I mean in my-" she paused a moment before she settled on her choice of words "-original reality, the Federation and Klingons are blood enemies, the fight between us that started in seventy-two didn't end and escalated into a full-on bloodbath, with whole worlds being glassed, it only ended with the Federation conquering the Klingon Empire, then the Romulans attacked us and the Cardassians attacked from behind. So at present, they are dealing with a two-front war."
"Ouch, sounds... brutal," Alyssa commented as she listened carefully to her son's girlfriend explains herself.
"It was." Selendis agreed. "All I had ever known was the war against the Klingons, same with my mother and siblings who are all here in this reality too," Selendis commented evenly. "Living here has been a very educational experience for all concerned." the young woman explained.
"Selendis and I met by chance." Atin tossed in. "She assumed I was a stereotypical Klingon. I think what interested her was when I said I wasn't from that cesspit of stupidity."
Selendis chuckled softly. "Yeah, among other choice words. I'll admit the statement really broke my brain. That's when I got curious... Had he said he was from the Empire, I would have ignored him and carried on with my afternoon, lunch and then back to class and not given it a second thought." she paused. "It was his rather, shall we say, brutal opinion of the Klingon Empire in general that piqued my interest. One thing led to another and before I know it, we were in bed together."
"Wow, that escalated quickly," Khatami responded. "Mogh and I took months before we got there," she explained.
Selendis nodded, everyone was different in their approach to the matter. "At the time, I saw it as a harmless fling, we were both getting our assignments in the morning and if we were assigned together, then we'd develop a real relationship but if not then it would end then and there with no regrets from either of us," she explained with a nod.
"It sounds like how your mother and I met," Kolar explained with a smile. "Alyssa was-" he regarded his own mate and mother to his kids as he explained.
"-curious about how Klingons did things and how we fought. I decided to challenge her to a duel, we both lost as we disarmed each other." Kolar explained evenly. "Then she punched me on the face and broke her hand. I laughed at her."
"I remember," Alyssa answered, a smile on her lips. "Sounds like you are following in my footsteps, did you two duel?"
"No," Selendis commented. "But we did share a meal together," she commented. "I think it was Atin's critique of the Klingon Empire that made me realize he was more than just spit and polish," she explained.
Alyssa giggled softly. "You sound just like I did when Kolar and I first met." as she gave her husband a look. "It really sounds like you two are following our footsteps. I like you Selendis. Atin told us about you and I confess. I was wondering if this was a windup. But I'm glad to meet you at last."
"Atin spoke of me.?"
Khatami nodded her head. "He did." she explained as Mogh regarded her. "He spoke very highly of you and Atin over there, doesn't say much about anyone. So when he started talking about you, it got the attention of others." he commented evenly.
Selendis regarded Mogh with a soft smile. "Lies, I tell you. All lies."
Kolar sipped his drink. "Then, we will have to find out for ourselves." he commented with a rather evil grin.
