Mission: Mission 98: Building Our New Home
Location: Science Labs - Starbase Vanguard (47)
Timeline: 0945Hrs - May 29th, 2393

Lt Commander Keyan Fardreamer sighed softly as he regarded the empty space where Lieutenant Kameron Yamaguchi-Solusar had just occupied until a few moments ago when their meeting, tense and uncomfortable as it was. 'Heck, calling that a meeting is being generous. He doesn't wanna be here and I'm back to square one.' Fardreamer then picked up the PADD before he made his way out of his own office and down the hall to see his boss.

Fardreamer reached his destination, before knocking on her door, he was permitted entry to the Orion woman's office before he sighed. "Hey, I just got done with Lieutenant Yamaguchi-Solusar." he then let out a sigh before he placed the PADD in his hands onto her desk. "Well, you better read for yourself," he added to Takabe.

Nuala carefully read the PADD. She then looked up at Keyan. "Your an officer in good standing Commander. I have no reason to deny your request. You don't owe me an explanation. That said, can you tell me your reasons why you desire a transfer?"

"I'm not the one making the request Commander." Fardreamer didn't know the Orion female before her, they had only started working together a week earlier. "Lieutenant Yamaguchi, the star officer I wanted, doesn't want to be here. He said that he felt slighted as he had been demoted hard for no reason."

"He told you this personally?" Nuala asked.

Fardreamer nodded his head. "Oh yes." he answered as he regarded the female before him.

"Okay, like I said to you, I cannot deny him a transfer if he wants it. I would like to have a word with him though. Maybe he can tell me something." Nuala explained to Keyan.

"I was hoping he would work out, he comes highly recommended and Captain McKnight stuck a notation in his file that says many good things about him." Fardreamer sighed softly. "This came from left field."

"This sounds very uncharacteristic of him. I'd like to talk to him. Once he is done with his physical, send him to my office, please." Nuala requested.

Fardreamer nodded. "Willdo." he tapped his combadge. "Fardreamer to Yamaguchi.?"

The response was quick. "Yamaguchi here, go.?"

"When you are finished doing whatever it is that you are doing, could you please report to Commander Takabe's office."

"Right away. Be there in five." came the clipped responses from the com system. Fardreamer recalled that the other man was a former starfighter pilot, much like he himself used to be. "We'll be waiting. Fardreamer out."

As Yamaguchi entered the office Nuala greeted him. "Hello Lieutenant, I'm going over your transfer request. As I have told Commander Fardreamer, you an officer in good standing so I have no right to deny your request. You also do not need to give us an explanation for your request. So, with that in mind, I am asking why you would like to be transferred?"

Yamaguchi regarded the Orion female before him. "I feel slighted in the assignment here sir. I went from a senior officer and department head to coffee maker and gopher."

Fardreamer managed to keep a straight face but he said nothing, Yamaguchi nodded to him as if to indicate the man. "The Commander and I discussed it already."

"What assignments are you working on now?" Nuala asked.

Yamaguchi shifted his attention back to the female before him. "I'm not. I have no assignments as Elizabeth and I only arrived on the ship about an hour or so ago," he explained evenly. "The trip here was long as I was reassigned from the USS Dreamcrusher with almost no warning. She was in for reprovisioning."

"So this is your first day aboard and you want a transfer?" Nuala was a little surprised. "That is a little soon. Is something else going on?"

"No, sir. Other than a demanding infant." Yamaguchi answered evenly. "No, there is nothing going on."

"Okay. The paperwork will take at least a month. Star Fleet may or may not have any questions for you due to this quick turn around." Nuala told him.

"Yessir. I understand." Yamaguchi answered in a quiet tone of voice.

"I'm not an admiral. You don't have to call me sir." Nuala smiled at Yamaguchi. "Unless you would like to add anything your free to go."

Yamaguchi regarded her in silence for a moment. "Yessir." and with that, he turned and departed in silence.

Fardreamer observed in silence before he turned to regard Takabe. "Well. I'm back to square one."

"Not yet, you said he is married to an officer in medical, right?" Nuala asked.

"Yes. Someone named Elizabeth Yamaguchi." Fardreamer answered, before giving the Orion female before him a rather confused look. "Why do you ask?"

"I would like to talk to her department head. See if we can get any more information." Nuala told him. "Are you on terms with his old skipper? Maybe you can ask him what is going on?"

"Captain Daniel McKnight.?" Fardreamer paused. "I could ask him and see how he feels on this. I'll take care of it," he answered.

"I'll make contact with Dr. Dvald," Nuala told Fardreamer. "Dr. Dvald, this is Commander Nuala. This is nothing urgent but when you get a chance could you contact me? Thanks."

The answer was prompt. "This is Dvald. I'm on my way down to you."
Fardreamer raised an eyebrow in silence. A few moments went by as the door chime beeped at both.

"Enter" Nuala responded. "Ah, Dr. Dvald, nice of you to drop by."

A Bolian female who was just shy of six foot entered Takabe's office, she carried a graceful figure but she had muscles, clearly, this was a woman who cranked iron in the gym. "What can I do for you, Commander. Is this a house call?" she inquired. "I am Heris Dvald. Siaxx spoke very highly of you."

"I would also return the compliment to Siaxx. Alas, this is business. Your new officer, a girl named Yamaguchi, is she having any personal issues? The reason I ask is that her husband has just asked for a transfer and he has only been on the ship a few hours."

"Yes," Dvald answered. "She came up to me and did the same thing, demanding reassignment back to the Dreamcrusher." the tall Bolian answered. "She said that she felt slighted with her demotion back to coffee-maker."

"My assistant informed me that our science officer said the exact same thing. Did something happen?" Nuala asked.

Dvald paused as she considered the statement. "I honestly have no idea. I can only assume that the two were reassigned here without explanation as Ms. Yamaguchi had explained to me before sticking in her request." the tall Bolian explained. "I doubt they considered it much before doing so."

"To be honest, I think their transfers will be denied. Getting transferred is just life in Star Fleet." Nuala told Heris.

Dvald nodded. "I don't need a malcontent in my department. Even if she is as skilled as her record says." the Bolian sighed softly. "I was going to approve it and then call it a day."

"I'm going to approve it to for the same reasons. The last thing I need is a bitter subordinate. The issue is going to be with task force personnel. They aren't going to transfer them because they don't like it here." Nuala explained.

Dvald nodded her head. "Well, it's going to take awhile anyway, for the requests to be processed and the like so they will be here for a little while anyway." the Bolian female then shrugged. "Hopefully these two behave better than my children," she added. "If not then I'll deal with Ms. Yamaguchi."

"Well, I hope they do not act out. It would be a stupid way to ruin a promising career." Nuala replied.

Dvald nodded in agreement. "I don't know of her husband's skills but Lieutenant Yamaguchi is a therapist, a vet, and a Doctor. She would be a high-value asset to anyone who has her."

"The boy has some really good qualities. We were glad to have him in the department. I hope the two can look past whatever issue they have or at least come to us and try to explain it." Nuala spoke.

Dvald nodded. "Well, we'll see soon enough, won't we?" she inquired, a gentle smile playing on her lips. "Maybe telling them their requests are being processed will be enough to calm them for now."

"Good idea. Thank you for taking the time to see to this matter." She told her.

"No worries." Dvald grinned at the other woman. "Besides, it was a chance to meet you. Siaxx spoke highly of you and she speaks highly of few."

Nuala smiled back. "Thank you. It was a pleasure to meet you too."

Dvald smiled. "Alright then. I'm going to head back down to the hospital and inform the Lieutenant that her request is being sorted out, maybe we can convince both to stay here. The base isn't a bad posting and we are not as insane as the commanders on their last assignments, well... I know I'm not and how Siaxx survived the assignment to the Roanoke is, at times, beyond me." the tall Bolian paused. "I'll see you guys later." and with that, the tall female departed.

Fardreamer turned to Takabe. "The plot thickens. Alright, well enough of me standing around. I'm going to go do some actual work and leave you in peace. Till next time Commander." and with that, he departed, after the tall Bolian.
