Mission: Mission 49: The Stars Look Down
Location: Various Locations - Battlecruiser Ryazar's Shield
Timeline: 0900Hrs November 12th 2391

Division Admiral Talon Yamaguchi led four hundred starfleet personnel onto the Akurian battle cruiser, she had a large duffel over one shoulder as she had her three children with her. "Stay close kids." she said quietly.

Perea and Othello followed in silence as Marie looked around. "Mom, this is so cool!"

"I know baby... This will be our new home." Talon responded.

"Cool!" Marie followed her mother closely.

The personnel all formed up in lines as they approached the half dozen Akurians. Talon slipped off her duffel as she moved over to the Akurians, before handing Ryuukei a PADD. "I'm to be your new Federation Detachment commander."

Ryuukei took the padd, saying, "Nice, it's about time you guys all got here. We haven't been able to do much with that Iconian gateway lately."

"Well. Starfleet decommissioned my ship and sent me and about four hundred of my crew here, I got all of my medical, science and engineering guys, a lot of these guys are experts in their fields..."

"I wanna fire the guns!" called a voice in the back. Talon smiled in amusement after she lifted a hand to hide her grin.

"Sure. you'll be the first to know next time we do a target shoot." Ryuukei then looked at the group as a whole and gave his simple briefing, "Alright well I know most of you are here to examine the Iconian gateway, and quite frankly, I'm grateful you're here, ever since we got that thing on board its been nothing but trouble, and i only have a dozen people at most that are looking at it. So anyway, a few things about this assignment. This is an Akurian vessel, hardly any of us even wear clothing, so in all honesty, I don't care at all if you guys wear uniforms or not, as long as your on this ship, you all may wear whatever you like."

The various Federation personnel all shared odd looks with each other. "You heard the man, this is an Akurian vessel so we will do it their way and not ours. We start work tomorrow to make this ship better then brand new..." she paused for Ryuukei to carry on.

Ryuukei nodded. "Alright, well for the most part, food is in the ships galleys, We don't have that many working replicators on board, federation replicators don't agree with our power distribution systems all that well. Also I know most of you are used to sonic showers, but we do the communal bathing thing in large baths, there are a number of them throughout the ship. If you need directions to find something, aside form asking one of us, the computer can also give directions and the ships robot's can show you around."

"Communal Bathing?" Talon inquired. "How exactly... does this work?" she paused, suddenly uneasy.

"Basically our baths are large pools pretty much where quite a few of us may be bathing at the same time. I mean, there aren't really any akurian species that wear clothes, so its not like we are going to have a problem bathing together." Ryuukei answered. "Its pretty nice though our baths are designed to resemble natural springs, and the water is kept flowing pretty good and its well filtered."

Talon raised an eyebrow. "Okay... This is... different." she commented. "Well.. I have the feeling that this tour of duty will be educational. For all involved." she explained. "Alright... Shall we go get our quarters assignments and.. how large are they?"

Ryuukei pointed at Lirvinx, whom was near by. "He has the quarters assignment roster, they are decent sized, but they will be a little different than what you are used to on federation ships.

Talon raised an eyebrow. "How do you mean different?" she inquired.

Ryuukei didn't care much to explain at the moment. "You will see."

Talon raised an eyebrow. "Okay... Guys see the man and get your room assignments, then spend the rest of the day settling in. "Oooh yah Guv, This gonna be great!" Mev commented from the third row.

"Yeah Mev... Well we will see soon enough." Talon responded as she looked down at the floor material. "Is the Grass live or inert?" she inquired.

"Its fake, Ryuukei answered," Real grass is a little too maintenance heavy, but there are plenty of real plants on the ship though."

"Yes. April mentioned that she had some of her starbase personnel planting hundreds of trees aboard this ship." she paused. "was she exaggerating?" Talon inquired about her eldest sibling.

The Federation personnel were taking turns getting their room assignments before departing in ones and twos, clearly going looking for their new accommodations. A squid-like being floated over as he blinked his single large eye. "Guv?" he inquired of Lirvinx. "Got my room assignment?"

Talon smiled, she lifted her hand to cover her amusement as she wanted to see how these guys would deal with a flying squidlike being.

Lirvinx gave Guv an apprehensive look, then made the comment, "O.K. our ships rooms where definitely not made with your species in mind. I guess I'll have to assign you a room designed for Velkuri."

Mev simply blinked his one eye that was facing Lirvinx. "Sure Guv, sounds good.." the squidlike being responded in a cheery tone.

Hako Tazar, an arctic foxlike being known as a Yazo Rinax, walked over to Ryuukei asking. "So these federation guys, they have engineers that can help us with this replicator issue right."

Ryuukei looked at Talon," You did bring engineers on your team right?"

"About two hundred of my four hundred guys are Engineers." Talon explained. "Fifty more are medical officers and everyone else are Operations people." she explained at length.

Hako nodded. "Nice, we can really use them. Our own native replicator technology doesn't have the ability to replicate organics. We have had hell trying to integrate federation replicators with our own systems. We have maybe a half dozen that work only partially."

"My guys will handle things." Talon responded. "Somehow.." she paused. "I think... I should.... stuck in requests for my.... entire crew.." she slowly smiled. "I was successful as a commander of my own ship because I had a rather... odd collection of people supporting me."

Lirvinx looked down at his roster. "Well we are at full capacity of the amount of people we can really handle on board right now, I wouldn't try and get anyone else on board."

I'm sure I can find assignments for them among the battlegroup. My Exec got busted back to Counselor... Duran would love this ship." Talon sighed.

Ryuukei shrugged. "Yeah we are either loved or hated it seems, never in between."

"Alright... Well I'd best get my room assignment so we can go settle in." Talon explained. "Then I'll start being demanding tomorrow."
