Mission:
Mission 41: The Changing of the Guard
Location: Various Locations - USS Roanoke
Timeline: 0800Hrs - August 18th, 2391
The Shuttle had landed already and was disgorging the new arivals and of those one of them stood out because his was over seven foot tall and a true behemoth in every sense of the word.
He sniffed at the air as he picked up the massive pack that he had placed next to his armored boots on the deck, he spied an Andorian Shen nearby so he moved over towards her as she was simply the first person he had seen. "Greetings... I am Lieutenant Rtas 'Vadumee. I Greet you."
"Oh, hello there." Froststorm told the alien. "Are you new here?"
"I am." he responded. "I'm to be one of the new tactical officers aboard this vessel." the massive alien explained. "I'm two hours early... so I figured I would get to know the ship and her crew first."
"Good idea." Froststorm agreed. "The Roanoke is a big ship. It is easy to get lost."
Halfjaw regarded the smaller Andorian. "There are only a few Sangheli in the fleet. I am one of a few.."
"Oh really?" Froststorm replied. "Glad you decided to join us."
He bowed to her. "Most are... unaccustomed to my looks... so others tend to fear me.." he admitted. "You are made of sterner stuff then most. I am honored to know you."
"Well, I just don't really understand when I am in danger." Froststorm admitted. "More ignorance than bravery."
"You are in no danger." Rtas Vadum'ee responded quietly. "Not from me anyway." he added.
"No, I suppose not." The Andorian admitted. "So, is your race peaceful or do you have a warrior ethos?"
"No. We have a warrior ethos." Vadum'ee responded quietly. "The double E sound at the end of my name indicates my status as a warrior." he explained evenly.
"So your warriors? Why haven't more..." Ryi tried to pronounce the name. "...Singeely joined Star Fleet?"
"Sangheli" he responded. "Sang'hell'ee" he tried not to smile as he broke up the name for her to try again. "I like you young one..." he added. "The Sangheli are new to the Federation, we joined only recently... and more with sign up when the benefits of joining become known... my clanmate and brother.. Thel Vadum'ee is assigned to the USS Courageous.. You'd like him."
"Thank you!" Ryi replied. "I think I like you too. I'm Ryi Amlari. you can call me Froststorm or Taffy. I go by all three."
"I understand." he responded. "You can call me Rtas or Halfjaw, I answer to both." before he bowed to her. "I am sure I will see you around the ship but I must go check in..." and with that he made his farewells and departed, upon exiting the hanger he almost ran down a much smaller being. "Hello.." he introduced himself to the smaller being. "I am Rtas Vadum'ee... I am new aboard."
Karryn, whom was half asleep, was now fully awake, commenting," Damn, your as big as an Ankuri."
"I have no idea of who that species is." Vadum'ee responded. "Is everyone on this ship smaller then me?" as a human female slipped past the two of them and she herself was about 5'7 in height, the average for the species.
Varkon meanwhile walked up from behind them, with Aerin riding on his shoulders. Varkon commented, "Yeah, lots of small people on this ship, especially these little Kurokuri."
"Lovely." Vadum'ee responded. "I'm looking to report into the ships Chief of Tactical." he commented. "so I'm going to go and find him."
Aerin answered the question for him," Actually, the captain wants to talk to all the incoming officers in the tactical department. Also you don't have to look far for the chief of Tactical, since that is pretty much going to be me."
"Fantastic." Rtas responded. "Lieutenant Rtas Vadum'ee reporting for duty... more or less.." he said then he added on the little bit at the end.
Aerin nodded, "Well just follow us, we are going to the bridge." Varkon put his hand out and with the agility only a Kurokuri could have, Karryn climbed up his arm and onto his shoulder.
Rtas Vadum'ee followed in silence with his duffel in hand.
The group got up to the ready room where Teval and Zuko where already at. Zuko was leaning against the wall while Teval sat crosslegged in a chair. Teval looked up at the group, saying, "Well Aerin, I am actually kinda surprised your transferring out of R&D into this job."
Aerin shrugged as he got off Varkon, "Well I wanted to stay with you guys, plus I am one of the few familiar with the new weapons systems." Teval nodded then looked at Rtas," And who might you be."
"Lieutenant Rtas Vadum'ee." the massive Sangheli regarded the small person at the desk. "One of your new tactical officers." he added.
"Ah, you are big," Teval commented. Zuko looked over at Rtas, saying, "Yeah, I don't see too many out there that are close to my height."
"I will try not to step on the little ones.." Vadum'ee responded as he regarded the smaller beings present. " he paused. "May I go find the quartermaster and find out where my room is sir?" he inquired.
Both Aerin and Teval said at the same time, "Don't call us sir." Then aerin added, "Yeah you can go see the quartermaster now."
Rtas sighed as he turned and departed, his massive duffel had to weigh at least a hundred pounds due to its sheer side but he carried it like it weighed only five pounds.
