Posted on Sun Mar 1st, 2020 @ 11:26pm by Commander Luhanna Wintersnow & Company Sergeant Major Jeffery "The Mountain" Duval

Mission: Mission 37: The Troubles and Tribbles
Location: Various Locations - USS Roanoke
Timeline: 1000Hrs - July 12th, 2391

Sergeant Major Jeffery Duval sat down at the large table as the large gathering all seemed to lift their glasses at once as one of them pulled a tribble from their glass. "Eww... what are these things?" Telios inquired.

"Those things... are tribbles.. they multiply at a geometric rate... and they are starting to vex me, most grievously."

Duval regarded the man who spoke, he was wearing leather and wool as if it was a cold winters day yet he looked as cool as cucumber soup. "Aren't you hot wearing that?"

"Not at all my good man." The Highlord responded with a smile as he gently picked up the tribble that Telios had tossed casually into the center of the table. "Tribbles are born pregnant.." he looked around at the mass of tribbles that seemed up be popping up everywhere.

"I am feeling my age..." The Highlord responded as he downed his drink.

Duval regarded him. "I'm Fifty seven years old."

Fordring shrugged. "I'm seventy eight"

Telios tossed in her two cents "Two hundred." as Luhanna Wintersnow sat down on Duval's lap as he curled a massive arm around her so she didn't slide off. Telios seemed comfortable with her mothers choice as
Maraad Skyshatter who drained his tankard of ale. "Two hundred years.."

Commander Jamil Newsom who was off of the Avalon simply smiled. "Two and a half centuries for me.." he finished his drink. "Barkeep, another round please?"

"Yeah Jamil." came the response.

Luhanna gently kissed the tip of Duval's nose. "Three and a half centuries..."

Duval regarded Luhanna with an evil grin. "Are you always this free?"

"Mmm... you should see me when I'm in the mood..."

The Highlord tried not to laugh as the door opened and in walked one more.

Karryn whom walked in with Aerin behind her, had heard the conversation, shaking her head saying, "Your all young compared to me, start talking when you reach 573."

The Highlord snorted his drink all over Duval and to a lesser degree Wintersnow. "Do I owe you money... where are your glasses boy!" he snarled as Luhanna wiped his face with her uniform sleeve.

Karryn just smiled innocently while Aerin shook his head.

The Highlord chuckled softly. "Well it could be worse... right?"

Luhanna raised an eyebrow. "Wait till you get to my age..."

"How long do you people live?" the Highlord inquired of Luhanna

"About fifteen thousand years as you reckon time."

"What!" Jamil Newsom responded. "Wow... and I thought the El'Aurians lived a long time at five centures.."

"My grandfather... he's about twelve hundred years old..."

Karryn shrugged, "Eh, one of my old friends, Ryuukei, he has a grandfather whom is over ten thousand years old. No one actually knows his exact birthdate, since he predates any current calendars in use."

"Wow..." Duval responded. "Thats... just impressive... are you guys immortal or just functionally ageless?"

Luhanna smiled as she sipped her drink while the bartender placed new glasses before the crowd, this time they were free of tribbles which was something that cheered the crowd considerably.

"Functionally ageless," Karry added," Though before modern medicine, Kurokuri usually didn't last more than a few centuries before succumbing to cancer, so Kurokuri more than two millenia in age are extremely rare. Unfortunately that agelessness came at the price of reduced resistant to the condition. Of course now Akurian confederation tech is advanced enough to keep just about anyone going on indefinitely, with periodic anti-aging treatments of course."

Duval raised an eyebrow. "Cool." he responded. "Do they actually give this tech to their friends and allies?"

Karryn nodded, "Yeah, but in general its common tech throughout the galaxy we come from. Its rather odd that so few powers here have the technology. And by all standard, the federation ought to have it, or at least be pretty close. But hey, this galaxy is strange to us."

"Oh..." Jamil Newsom responded. "I had no idea... tell us more of this... confederation?"

Duval sipped his drink. "Yeah.."
