Mission:
Mission 33: Losing the Peace
Location: Various Locations - USS Roanoke
Timeline: 1200Hrs - May 8th, 2391
Rachael Yamaguchi was sitting in the Green Dragon, she was meeting Phoenix for lunch and she felt happy but she suspected that the events of yesterday had something to do with it, she had gotten laid which had helped her to release a great deal of stress.
Phoenix was glad to see her friend... Come to think of it, their relationship had always been difficult to define. For the moment, however, Phoenix felt right with seeing Rachael in that light.
Rachael sipped her drink as she regarded the older woman. "Hey Phoenix. Whats up?" she inquired.
"Just thought we'd have a meal and hang for once. We rarely get to do that, lately," Phoenix offered with a smile.
Rachael smiled cheerily at the older woman. "Sounds great...." she commented "Yesterday was... something different wasn't it.."
"Been sorta annoyed lately that my sim scores aint like they were a few years ago," Phoenix spoke dully. "Feels different, on tha stick this time."
Rachael raised an eyebrow. "Mind if I offer my perspective?" she inquired
"Sure," Phoenix prodded eagerly.
"Jill... you have a family to think about... You wonder when you'll see the twins next or hang ten with your lady or hang out with Beastie and Dora." as Rachael explained, she slowly smiled. "My test scores are not as high as I'd like... same thing, I'm too busy thinking of Saki.."
"I used ta think that havin' a family ruined ones career as a pilot... but now I aint so sure," Phoenix admitted bittersweetly as she thought about the twins.
Rachael raised an eyebrow. "I know exactly what you mean... I have something worth fighting for now, in addition to myself... I have Saki.. and maybe.... someone else.. with a little time.."
"Anyone I know?" Phoenix probed with an evil grin.
"No." Rachael answered. "We sorta collided yesterday with the...
polywater incident.." she turned turned a shade of deep brown. "We got to know each other after that....after recovering from what happened, that is.." Rachael explained. "The sex was great... don't get me wrong...but I prefer to know the guy I'm seeing, y'know?" with that, Rachael smiled. "I mean it was an accident... but, the sex was just amazing.."
"Then you should ask him out again," Phoenix posed with a huge grin.
Rachael nodded her head. "I'm going to." she responded. "I want to see what sort of a man he really is.."
"I sometimes think Siaxx plays with fire, knowin' I aint always stable... Cause who in their right mind stays with someone that almost beat 'em ta death?" Phoenix admitted quietly. "Maybe it would be good for you ta make sure he's not got the type of baggage me an' Saki have."
Rachael regarded the older woman. "Jill. That was a long time ago... and you gotta stop tormenting yourself like that. Siaxx stays with you because she loves you... If you don't believe me, then... you're in trouble." Rachael chuckled softly. "But all joking aside. You're not the same person you were... neither is she... and neither am I." Rachael sipped her drink. "You are a lot more stable now than you ever were then, because you got the twins..."
Phoenix wanted to corrected her on that fact, but stopped herself. In some ways, Rachael also had a point too.
"Family is a grounding experience," the pilot finally agreed aloud.
"Jill... You didn't have the twins or me or anyone else in your life when that incident occurred back on Starbase Four Hundred." Rachael smiled. "Hell... Elizabeth mentioned something about you two starting to get along.." Rachael paused. "Her time at the academy was...rough." a sigh escaped her lips.
"I was lucky never to attend that hell hole," Phoenix remarked with understanding.
Rachael looked around a moment. "Elizabeth was sexually assaulted, her boyfriend was seeing another woman and when she called him on it, he tried to kill her." she explained. "That stays between you and me, okay?" Rachael did not need to mention it but she had to say it for her own peace of mind.
"I figured out somethin' happened to her along those lines," Phoenix spoke quietly. "Aint my play ta speak about it either."
"Okay. I had to say it for my own peace of mind." Rachael explained as she sighed. "Anyway, shall we order??"
