The beast had called for her head early that morning and now she had to pay the man, or in this case woman so she had dressed and had gone up to the skippers ready room where she knew her mother would be holding court this fine day.

A sigh escaped her lips as she entered the ready room after having knocked. "You wished to see me, Captain?" Elizabeth had no doubts as to why she was here.

"Yes. have a seat," Zara spoke with ease. There was no anger on her face at all. "You know why you're here?"

Elizabeth sat down in the selected chair in silence. Torilla meanwhile was sitting on the sofa, likewise in silence. "I do sir." Elizabeth responded quietly.

"So just a simple set of questions then," Zara agreed. "Are you aware of the serious injuries you inflicted upon Major Sullivan, and the regulations broken from that altercation?"

Elizabeth wanted to say a great many things. "I do, sir." was all she said.

"Ah. Good," Zara spoke with a huge grin. "Then by order of the Roanoke CO, I hereby order you to mess duty. Pots and pans. After dinner tonight. You can help Aryssa."

Elizabeth nodded her head. "Yessir.." she paused. "Wait.. what?" she looked astonished. "I beat the crap out of Major Sullivan... and I'm just getting kitchen duty.." she paused. "I do not understand... I should be made to turn in my comission.."

"The book says the punishment is up to the captain," Zara pointed out with a grin, "and I determine that Direwolf had it coming. Pots and pans, for the evening. Case closed... Damn I should be a JAG. Get far more cases done and over with simple logic."

Elizabeth opened her mouth and she closed it a few times, clearly in a state of disbelief.

Torilla smiled as she sipped her drink. "You had good reasons for doing what you did... Besides... the security footage was impressive," she commented. "Jake and Kameron have both taught you well."

"That's not the point m-Commander." Elizabeth corrected herself right at the last second as she addressed her mother. "I was still wrong."

"There is the letter of the law and there is the spirit of it." Torilla explained. "You came to the aid of a fellow officer who you thought had been assaulted... you were following the spirit of the law... and you decked Major Sullivan, In my opinion, he deserved it..." she turned to Zara. "Did I say that out loud?" she inquired. "Mmm... I'm slipping.."

"Punishments fit the crime, in my book... He was nasty to his sister, you stuck up for her. And that's a rare thing Phoenix sees in her demented little corner of the universe," Zara admitted with a brush of the hand. "So pots and pans tonight is your punishment."

Elizabeth paused. "Yessir," she responded quietly.

Torilla regarded her eldest. "I heard that.."

"I know.," Elizabeth responded quietly. "Nobody harms people I consider kin.."

Torilla raised an eyebrow in surprise.

"When did you start to like Phoenix," Zara asked with a similar expression of Torilla's.

"She gave my siblings life.." Elizabeth's answer was simple and blunt. "Even after what I did to her.."

"So long as you two are square, I won't balk at it," Zara said with a relaxed sigh.

"Phoenix and I are getting along... We discussed what I did to her. The end result was good... but that doesn't justify what I did.. I violated her... and that's not something that I can forgive, even if she could.."
