Mission: Mission 31: The Ashes of Eden
Location: Various Locations - USS Roanoke
Timeline: 1000Hrs - April 7th, 2391

Lt Commander Siaxx Dvald regarded her destination as she stood outside the door, PADD in hand as she was determined to complete her friends task, in truth she had not thought the matter through, however the matter or the complexity of the goal eluded her as she tapped the doorchime to her destination.

"It's open," Zara called out as she sat on her couch, polishing her knife collection.

Siaxx tapped the 'open' button on the panel, the door slid open and she went in. "Captain... I need to get my hunt started..." as she presented her PADD to Tane. "I need to find Greywolf's people..."

"I approve of your goal, but not of the mission," Tane spoke instantly. "At least, for the moment. I need you to answer some questions about the search first."

Siaxx regarded the other woman warily. "I have several candidate locations on where they might be.... Commander Wintersnow has been quite helpful..." she paused. "What are your questions?"

"And it looks like these locations are spread all over," Zara spoke as she put her knife down and looked at the PADD. "It would take several years just to check up on these regions. And you've no guarantee they haven't migrated from these locations."

"I know... but I gave him my word.... I cannot just stand here and do nothing to further that goal." Siaxx answered. "It was his only request he ever made of me... I told him I'd see it done.."

"Give me a solid plan on how to narrow your very wide search grid, and you'll have my approval," Zara spoke sincerely. "But I can't just approve this, knowing you may die in the attempt, alone."

Siaxx regarded the other woman whom she was equal in height to. "Believe it or not... that is the narrowed down list." the small Bolian admitted. "The original list was thirty times the size... I was able to rule out most of them for various reasons.... like Federation colonies and the like." she paused. "the trouble I have... is time... and speed..."

"Then I'd suggest putting feelers out in these places and let other eyeballs help narrow it down even further," Zara suggested with sympathy. "Because you're looking at a fifteen-year mission alone. And I'm betting if we can get people on the ground to do most of this work for you, that Starfleet would approve of a First Contact and humanitarian aid mission for you."

Siaxx regarded the other woman, a careful look in her eyes. "Mmmm..." she then slowly smiled. "Okay.. I can look at Fleet deployments into the areas I'm interested in. Then I can request assistance from Federation Starships in the various sectors.. Have them turn over the rocks for me."

"And altogether, it'll mean you having to be patient," Tane pointed out with sympathy. "From what I can tell, Greywolf meant a lot to you. And let's say this search finds them and you do what you promised... What's next for you?"

Siaxx paused. "I have no idea..." she admitted honestly. "Greywolf was like a father to me, he saved me and he protected me... I feel so... lost without him at times.. He asked me to finish his life's work and I will see it done Captain.. One way or the other.... afterwards is something I'm not looking at at present because I can't think that far ahead.."

"I'm not saying to ignore this quest handed down to you from him," Zara began, "but you also need to ask if being miserable as you are now, is what he wants for you as well."

"I'm not getting anywhere in completing his last request from him." Siaxx answered. "That's why I'm miserable."

"You got a game plan. So now you need to live for him and yourself while you carry that plan out," Zara suggested very sagely.

"But I can't sit here and do nothing.... and that is exactly what I'm doing... nothing.... Oh I feel so helpless.... so lost.." she paused as she fought to get a grip on her raging emotions and one could see she was failing. "I'm failing him..."

"No. You're not." Zara tapped her PADD. "You already have a search grid. So you've done a good bulk of the work already."

Siaxx stopped talking as she took a moment to pull herself together. "I wish... you could have known him... He would have marveled at this ship..." she paused.

Zara stopped what she was doing and made her way over to Siaxx in that moment. Very motherly, she hugged Siaxx, for she looked like she needed one.

"He sounds like a nice guy, Kid... But I don't think he would want you to live in misery either. He'd want you to also find something you enjoy," Zara spoke caringly.

Siaxx gently hugged her back. "He saved me from what should have been a very ugly death... I was either going to serve as some creatures dinner or drown... I guess I was chance... he plucked me from the river and took me home.."

"The old tend to pass on their wisdom to the young... Sounds like he needed you as much as you needed him," Zara guessed. "Either way, he saved you. And that's a gift. And gift he would not want you wasting. You need to balance this gift with honoring his goal, and finding out how you fit in this new life."

For one moment, Siaxx looked well and truly lost. "I miss him.." she admitted. "I'm carrying around his body like its a piece of luggage... because he wanted to be reunited with his clan, in death... I said I'd do it..." a sigh escaped the Bolian's lips. "He made me a part of his clan... I take that very seriously.."

"Having a life on your own, on the side, is not giving up his request," Zara reminded Siaxx very gently. "Did he say you weren't allowed to have a life?"

"No... he never would have wanted me to give up on my own life.." the small Bolian commented. "You're right.."

"Then there you go.. While we get ships to peak on one some areas, you need to focus on yourself and what you want out of life," Zara prodded with a huge grin.

"I spent eight years on a rock with no name with the kitty clan, Rachael and Saki Kishimoto for company... Saki Yamaguchi came later as did everyone else." the small Bolian sighed. "and then there was Greywolf, one of the few good things about that black rock with no name.." she paused. "I sometimes still wonder where I fit in..."

"Doctor Crusher took Command classes on the side to fill some of her voids," Zara began to add. "Not too long ago I remember a young Bolian asking me to give her some command hours on the bridge."

Siaxx paused. "The young Bolian is still waiting..." she responded before smiling.
