Fire and Ice - Part Four

Mission: Mission 98: Building Our New Home
Location: Various Locations - Starbase Vanguard
Timeline: 1130Hrs - June 14th, 2393

Captain Celeste Yamaguchi-Hobbs was sitting on the sofa in her office as she found herself relieved with the fact that she had a new Ambassador and a new Colonial Liasion officer to replace Siaxx Dvald-Vaxx who would be moving to the executive officer position but she still had no idea who to appoint to the second officer posting.

Yamaguchi-Hobbs frowned as she considered the issue before her. She rose to her feet before she crossed her office, the destination was her desk before the tall female took a seat behind it. "Who to consider." Celeste paused as the now unhappy human female tapped the small display before her. She began to call up the reassignment requests, while she settled in to read them.

Celeste dismissed the first one which was a Bolian who wanted to go home, he was young and inexperienced and Celeste realized that this was for his department head to deal with so she flagged it and forwarded it to his boss.

Yamaguchi-Hobbs narrowed her eyes as she quickly proceeded to dismiss almost ninety percent of the requests on the simple grounds that they were not of sufficient rank, she realized she was down to sixteen requests. Celeste took a moment to adjust herself in her chair which for her was something of a major show of emotion while doing paperwork.

Eventually she came down to a notice filed by Captain Tirothyn R'Shav regarding a medical issue that was brewing, apparently, there were not enough medical supplies to go around. Yamaguchi-Hobbs picked up a second PADD as she began drafting up a request for a shipment for medical supplies before she smiled. "James, could you come in here?"

The doors to her office opened and in walked a large human looking male, he came to a stop before her desk. "Yeah skipper, you called for me?"

Yamaguchi-Hobbs smiled as she handed him a PADD. "Could you draft this up and clean up my typos and the usual. It's for medical supplies."

"Willdo skipper. Thanks." and with that, he gently plucked the PADD out of her hands before he turned, before making his way back to his desk to take care of the paperwork request.

Yamaguchi-Hobbs noticed something odd as she came back to the Caitian female. Celeste brought up the other woman's service record before she spotted something, she suddenly grinned as her right hand snaked its way across her chest and tapped her combadge. "Yamaguchi-Hobbs to R'Shav.?"

"Yessir.?" came the response a moment later.

"Could you drop by my office when you get a minute, I need to talk to you about your request."

"Of course." the Caitian female responded. "I am on my way, I will see you shortly. R'Shav out." and with that, the comline went dead.

The human female smiled as she closed her eyes, waiting for her prey before she tapped the display before her. "James, I'm expecting a visitor, Its Doctor R'Shav, let her in when she gets here, would ya mind terribly?"

"Willdo skipper. I'll hold all your other calls until you finish."

"Thanks." as the tall female tapped the display a second time.

Meanwhile, the Caitian female who had been summoned went down the hallway towards her destination. R'Shav knew why she had been summoned and she wasn't about to waste time thinking about what this was about or why she was being called, she entered a turbolift. "Level four. Senior officers offices," she commented evenly while she cast her gaze downwards, towards her paws and claws which she kept retracted at the best of times.

The lift proceeded to the destination requested by its occupant who proceeded in silence, the doors opened with a soft hissing sound a moment later, permitting R'Shav to exit the left at her destination, she smiled as she turned left before making her way on the last leg of her journey, arriving at her destination a minute or so later.

The tall female Caitian went into the office where Captain Yamaguchi-Hobbs's yeoman was busy working on paperwork. he looked up as R'Shav came to a stop just in front of his desk. "The Captain is expecting you, she said to go on in."

"Thank you." and with that R'Shav entered Yamaguchi-Hobbs's domain, she found the human female sitting behind her desk. "Tirothyn, thanks for coming."

"You called me Captain, what's on your mind?" the female Caitian inquired as she took a seat before Yamaguchi-Hobbs's desk.

"I did," Yamaguchi-Hobs answered as she sat back. "I've taken care of your issues with the medical supplies, my aide is presently drafting out the final request because I have horrible handwriting skills and I hate using fancy and overly complicated words." she paused. "Now that only brings me to you, there was something about your reassignment request from your last posting that caught my attention. Mind if I ask what happened?"

R'Shav paused as she cast her recollection back to that time of insanity, where she never seemed to have enough time to go to the bathroom or even to eat a meal, for months on end it was non stop work, around the clock, backbreaking and heart-rendering, looking after billions of sentient beings, the vast majority were neglect or abuse cases. "You mean what happened on B Kayor last year."

"I read some of the reports that came out of that insanity," Yamaguchi-Hobbs responded. "For what its worth to you, I'd want out of medicine for the same reasons." she paused for just one moment. "Where would you go and what would you do.?"

"I want to transition into command. You and Siaxx both seem to make it work for you, I wonder what command can do for me." R'Shav explained evenly.

Yamaguchi-Hobbs raised an eyebrow. She had not been expecting this and the look on her face said as much. "So, what assignment would you request, assuming you wanted to leave?"

"I don't want to leave honestly," R'Shav answered. "But at present, there are not many command postings open.."

Yamaguchi-Hobbs paused before she decided to go all in with this conversation. "Well." she slowly smiled. "As of the first of the month, the second officer position will be open." Celeste tapped the PADD with her right index finger while she spoke. "You've had a distinguished record and maybe a change will be good for you. This also would resolve my issue that's brewing with medical."

The female Caitian looked confused all of a sudden. "Wait" she paused. "What issue?" she inquired in a gentle tone of voice.

"Well, the fact that you are deputy to someone with less experience and seniority in rank then you," Yamaguchi-Hobbs answered.

"Oh, I hadn't thought about it, like that," R'Shav answered with a quiet sigh before the Caitian shrugged her shoulders in resignation.

"If you want the job, the position of the second officer on the base, it's yours." Yamaguchi-Hobbs smiled.

"I accept. I start the first right?" R'Shav answered, suddenly she smiled.

"Yep, same as my new posting and everyone else it would seem." Yamaguchi-Hobbs smiled back. "Thank you Tirothyn, for resolving this issue of mine."

"Your welcome. I should get back to sickbay and see Doctor Dvald, let her know what's going on." she paused. "She will need time to move the work around and help me get ready for my departure."

"Fair enough. thanks for your time." Celeste watched as the other woman rose to her feet and departed moments later.
