Mission: Mission 28: Those who Remain
Location: Various Locations - USS Roanoke
Timeline: 1200Hrs - February 22nd, 2391

Rear Admiral Jacob Lee Yamaguchi regarded Captain Zara Tane on his wall monitor. "So.. let me get this right... you want me to authorize your plan to go around and sort out the colonies and clean up their act?" Jake inquired.

"Pretty much, yeah." Zara nodded in the affirmative in a very casual way.

"April did tell me.. I personally think my sister is insane.." Jake responded evenly. "I'm not sure if I can spare you for it..." he added. "I need to clean out IFO of all the gunk I have found here..."

"Don't you think Ro's done her part in trash clean-up?" Zara countered very quickly.

"I think Ro could be better used elsewhere yes." Jake responded. "So... before I sign off on this... walk me through your plan?"

"Too long has the colony worlds been ignored due to politics. So I figure with a small group of ships, we tend to their needs. Be it military fortifications, medical help, or dealing with the rogue warlord," Zara explained. "If we don't start lending aid to the colony worlds, we'll have another maquis. So by taking on the request gone ignored for over six months or so, we're giving Starfleet a better reputation as well by showing we actually care."

Jake slowly smiled. "Alright... Might I add one system to your list of systems?" he inquired. "I'd like you to add the Inverness System... Four planets... all colonized and all heavy populated. They've not seen any Starfleet forces for the last fifteen years other than smaller ships.... the area is located quite close to the Klingon border..."

"I don't see a problem with that," Zara answered honestly.

"Alright... Now.. what do you need in terms of ships assigned to you?" he inquired. "I assume you have a breakdown... Lay out all your cards on the table and tell me exactly what you want in terms of assets, ships, supplies and equipment from me in order to carry out your plan."

"Medical ship," Zara began to list off, "Maybe a gunnery ship. A huge EWACs. Maybe a ship with a fuck ton of torpedo tubes. An eclectic bunch able to complement each other and perform within the mission parameters most likely to be needed for these types of missions."

Jake plucked his drink from his plate as he took a sip. "Mmm... so you're looking for a Pathfinder class ship, a Tranquility Class ship." Jake paused. "Mmmm... Maybe an Akira Class ship and... as for EWACs... an Apollo Class ship.." he smiled. "I'll give you Captain Neban Hulur and the Avalon, she can handle your fright needs." Jake paused. "No extra ships... like Excelsior's?"

"That's all I'm looking for, Sir," Zara agreed.

"Very well..." Jake answered. "Consider your plan approved... but know that I'll be keeping an eye on you." he commented. "I'll assign you the Rolling, the Tranquility and the Dream Crusher. For EWACS, I'll assign you the Toronto." he paused. "Lastly.. I'll assign you the USS Avalon" he commented. "She has high levels of cargo carrying capacity and no... you can't rename any of these ships..."

"I wouldn't dream of it, Admiral." Zara smiled brightly. "Anything else you need Sir?"

"Jake.." Yamaguchi responded. "Zara... I'm going to ask you nicely.." he sighed softly. "stop calling me sir... makes me feel overly important... and I'm not. You are out there doing something that nobody else gives a fuck about... you earned the right to call me by name.... so... I don't ask you for what I need.... you tell me what you need..."

"Err..." Zara had to stop herself from using his title. "Thank you, Sir."

Jake facepalmed. "Oh boy.." he muttered. "and I hear that the other members of the overly bloated mass we laughingly call the Admiralty.." he paused. "Did I say that out loud?" he commented with a smile. "Anyway.. I hear they are always yelling at you for not calling them sir... and you call me sir.. even when I ask you not to... I can't win.."

"They actually yell at me mostly for stealing stuff they think I've stolen," Zara smiled brightly.

Jake raised an eyebrow. "Well starting now... you'll be at the top of my list for everything... new personnel, new ships and new equipment... Also Captain Lil'yanna Olmos will be assigned to you for this assignment... She doesn't know yet.... so I suspect that you'll want the honor of telling her about it..."

"Oh I'm bursting with excitement," Zara noted dryly. "But in all seriousness, thank you for giving my ship what it deserves."

Yamaguchi nodded. "You're the one that did the work... April told me about it. So I decided to go with it.."

"Lots of folks think I sit around in my office and hide," Zara laughed. "Far from it, really. I spent about four days reading reports and mapping them out."

Yamaguchi regarded the smaller woman. "How soon can you get your plan underway?" he inquired.

"Soon as Torilla can get her head together," Zara answered honestly. "I'm not in a major hurry. And she's not the only one with adjustment problems from the last mission. So I want to know my people are good to go before we set off again."

"Torilla has a lot to work through." Jake answered. "I know how my wife thinks... and she's..... dealing with a few things...." there was something in his voice.

"I know," Zara pressed. "She and I merged minds, to try and fix what your eldest did to me."

"Elizabeth.." Jake responded with a sigh. "What has she done now?" Jake almost moaned.

"Old news," Zara laughed. "She turned me into a monkey, mentally, when she saw me in bed with your wife like a month ago. Torilla had to repair the damage."

"Yes... I screamed at her for it." Yamaguchi responded. "I thought this was something new.... Tell me she's at least behaving herself..?" Jake almost sounded like he was pleading.

"Sometimes when I'm near her, I get an urge to run, but then I realize she's in control now," Zara admitted nervously. "She's a very old school woman when it comes to relationships of any sort, I think."

"Considering the size difference between you and her... I'd say thats fair.." Yamaguchi answered. "But she is behaving?"

"Yes, she is." Zara agreed.

"Good." Jake sighed softly. "Here I was assuming the worst.... " he shook his head.

"That would mean I acting like a monkey again," Zara corrected. "...Which I occasionally crave a banana like nothing before it."

Jake sighed as he facepalmed. "Merde!"

"Could have been worse," Zara shrugged. "She's a good kid though. Very protective of those she loves."

"Fair enough.." he commented. "Do you require anything else of me?" he inquired, wanting to finish his business.

"I think I'm good for now," Zara noted with a nod.

"Alright..." Jake answered. "Yamaguchi out." and with that, he ended the transmission on his end, the screen went black as he went off to his next job.
