Mission: Mission 27: Into the Jungle
Location: Various Locations - USS Roanoke
Timeline: 1000Hrs - February 21st, 2391

Commander Torilla Yamaguchi was wearing her duty uniform pants and shoes, she was also wearing the duty tank top and bomber vest as it was festooned with pockets, into which she stuffed all manner of useful items.

She looked at her eldest daughter who was assigned here. "I'm here to see Phoenix... is she up?"

"Let me check.."

Torilla took as she waited on her eldest, when Elizabeth came back she nodded. "She's up...and she knows your here."

"Alright... hows married life treating you?"

"Kameron treats me like a Queen mom..." she paused. "He's considering dropping his name in favor of ours.."

"Really?" Torilla was surprised. "Why?"

"He and his father had a very serious falling out a few years ago..."
Beth commented. "Its a long story... we can discuss it over dinner... and Kam will be there.... I'll get him to tell that story..."

"Alright.." Torilla went over to the door as she poked her head in. "Hey... you decent?"

"Yeah," Phoenix called as she pet Shonax while she laid on her back on the bed.

Shonax complained as he nuzzled her hand with his face while Torilla approached, she gently petted the kitty. "You feeling up to lunch?" the taller and larger woman inquired. "I thought I'd share a couple of Halanan deserts with you... Including one which is named 'The Chocolate explosion.." Torilla went over to the replicator as she spoke, she began tapping keys on the replicator rather then request a cake.

The requested cake appeared.

"This isn't a lunch though," Phoenix smiled as she saw the cake with very hungry eyes.

"True... Its me pigging out with you... Besides.. when was the last time you ate a serious desert??" Torilla held up the cake. "Most can only handle one slice. It's very sweet and very heavy.."

"Fair enough," Phoenix agreed and sat up, placed Shonax on the bed beside of her and watched Torilla slice the cake. "I'm sorry it's me they chose ta save your babies."

"Its alright Phoenix." Torilla responded evenly, she plated up two slices of cake. "Here you go." as she handed the other woman a hefty slice of cake, she then had one for herself. "Mmm..." as Torilla closed her eyes and smiled as she ate her first bite. "Mmmm... trying this fir the first time is almost a religious experience."

"Oooh," Phoenix nearly fainted from the divine taste. It truly put a smile on her face, even with the richness.

Yamaguchi smiled. "See what I mean.." she chuckled softly. "My mother.... introduced me to it... and she ensured I could replicate it or take it with me wherever I went.."

"It's not easy, ta be away from your home," Phoenix agreed, but smiled when she took her next bite. "It's good your mom gave ya this bit of home ta take with ya."

"Well my parents are long dead and my homeworld exiled me... which is ironic... considering I'll have lots of children and grandchildren... where as most Halanan women only have one or two... I'll have five or six.."
she shrugged. "The government operates like a dictatorship even though they say they are an elected democracy."

"Most elected governments operate as dictatorships," Phoenix pointed out. "It's a good or bad thing depenin' on who you elect."

"The Halanan government wants a piece of my ass... they want to know why I have so many kids... considering they sent my cousin to bully and threaten me when I was on Starbase 400... its why I stuck in for reassignment and this place came up." Torilla ate another piece of cake. "this... is all I have left of that worthless planet and her people."

"At least it's a good thing ta have left," Phoenix admitted with a pleasured moan.

"True.." Yamaguchi responded as she smiled. "Well we can hope they won't start shit with me here...."

"Doubt it... You're fuckin' tha CO. An' she don' let folks harm her lovers," Phoenix explained rather candidly.

Yamaguchi raised an eyebrow. "From time to time... yes." the Halanan woman responded. "I don't have any faith in that government's ability to play within the rules.."

"Tane never plays by the rules either," Phoenix laughed almost harshly. "She tried ta knife a guy for usin' nude replicas of us, remember?"

Yamaguchi chuckled softly. "I remember... I also remember that Siaxx wanted to kill him... and I still never found out if there was a copy of Rachael in there..." she paused. "I didn't look either..."

"He didn' die from an accident," Phoenix swallowed harshly. It was the one secret that was probably the big one to drive her into this slippery slope. "...I got myself in that brig to give myself an alibi when he bit it."

Yamaguchi regarded Phoenix in silence. "You did only what you felt was right..." Torilla settled on. "Had you not done it... I would have.."

"I had ta do it," Phoenix spoke with an uneasy breath. "He used Siaxx's body, albeit hologram form, for his own pleasure... Given what happened ta her with her uncle, I didn' want her ta have that same sort of pain from being violated."

Yamaguchi nodded as she smiled. "I consider what you did a mercy.... and no small favor."

"I don' think I can do this sort of thin' again," Phoenix spoke with tears streaming down her eyes. "I wanna take tha shot on Furban's mom... But I can' do it."

Yamaguchi regarded Phoenix. "She doesn't deserve a quick death... She needs to be dealt with... and we will deal with her.." as she took Phoenix's hand in her own. "we will... I promise you that..."

"I dunno how Siaxx will see me, if I tell her," Phoenix admitted shakily, then took another bite of cake.

"You were protecting her." Yamaguchi ate a slice of cake. "I can't fault that.... and you did me a favor... by doing what you did..." Torilla smiled.

"You're a good friend," Phoenix admitted with a very thankful tone.

Yamaguchi regarded the other woman. "So are you... You're a good person Phoenix.... don't ever let anyone tell you otherwise."

"I'm glad ta get that off my chest," Phoenix confessed. "It's been buggin' me a lot."

"Fair enough.." Yamaguchi responded. "But you still did all of us a favor by removing that piece of garbage..." she paused. "considering how many of us he used for his own amusement... I consider it no small favor."

"I used ta take kill shots all that time without feelin' anythin' from it," Phoenix spoke with confusion. "This one felt different, an' I dunno why."

Yamaguchi looked at Phoenix with kind eyes. "Because you were protecting the woman you love." Torilla smiled. "that tends to make it something you'll remember."

"I suppose I'll learn ta stomach this kill then, on that thought." It was not much, but it was the one good thing to come of the deed in question.

Yamaguchi found she couldn't say anything else so she helped herself to another slice of cake. "Mm... I'll make one of these to welcome home our wayward family."

"Not sure if Siaxx would like ya sayin' she's family or not now a days," Phoenix laughed as she took a bite of her cake.

"Siaxx and I do have issues yes..." Yamaguchi responded. "Hopefully we can resolve them without resorting to fighting... which reminds me.... after the babies are born.. can I ask you for a small request?"

"You can ask," Phoenix allowed with a skeptical eyebrow raise.

"I'm going to ask that you don't hit Elizabeth. What she asked of you was easily the hardest decision she's ever had to make... she was facing losing three members of her family.... "

"I will enact whatever punishment I deem fit for what she forced me ta do," Phoenix spoke rather angrily. "She might of done it for her family, but she didn' care about what this is doin' ta me... Nor do you, it seems."

"I will deal with Elizabeth in my own time...." Yamaguchi responded. "I read the reports of everyone involved and they all agree on one point... had they not operated, I would most certainly have died... and the babies too.." Yamaguchi responded. "Oh I'm not saying don't punish her, that would be hypocritical of me and I will not deny you, I will ask... that you don't hit her."

"Thank you for the cake," Phoenix spoke shortly. She fought herself greatly, in not yelling at her friend. True, Torilla had a right to be angry with Elizabeth too. But Phoenix had tried to tell the young intern she was never a good candidate in the first place.

Yamaguchi sighed softly. "Alright..." she didn't wish to fight as she ate the last chunk of cake on her plate. "Let's not fight about it."

"Sure," Phoenix agreed. "Just don' know what ta feel lately. Sometimes mad. Sometimes depressed. Other times afraid."

"We'll get through this... one way or another." Yamaguchi agreed. "Just take it one day at a time.... What you're feeling is normal.." she slowly looked down. "Its like that for Rachael too..." she sighed softly. "I've been through this several times... its never fun, or smooth or easy..." she explained. "but what gets you through is the people around you, the ones who care... and they let you know frequently that they care..."

"That helps a bit," Phoenix admitted with a small smile, and finished her slice of cake.

"You'll be alright.." Yamaguchi responded with a smile. "Just remember to take it all one day at a time.."

"I'm tryin' hard. but sometimes it's hard ta breath," the pilot confessed.

Yamaguchi regarded the pilot with a kind smile. "It does things to you..." she explained. "Don't try too hard though..." she admitted. "now unless you object... one of my clan, including myself will be in here spending time with you, making sure that you're going to stay okay... unless you object."

"All right," Phoenix agreed, albeit with a hint of skepticism. "Who's watchin' over Aryssa?"

"Elizabeth is spending time with her at the present time... on the holodeck... " Torilla responded. "Kameron is teaching them both flight training... class one oh one..."

"I should been tha one ta teach her," Phoenix sighed in frustration. "She thinks I favor your daughter more than her as it is."

"Elizabeth doesn't like Aryssa... Kameron is the one who's intrested."
